  1. not deleated, just moved to the correct section, ie "the wanted section"
  2. whats to stop them digging out I once layed a sheet of mesh down, with 2ft of dirt on top, they dug down, around the wire and started tunnelling towards next door, took me a good hour to dig the buggers out concrete every time now
  3. well after the hot weather and downpour of rain, the jill has kept the kitts in a cooler area of the cage, now at four and a half weeks old, they have started giving her the run around, constantly trying to drag them back into the corner, a nice mixture, we have 2 polecat, 2 albino and 2 silvers(very lightly marked) could almost be BEW's
  4. excuse the state of the garden, mid way through building a pagoda
  5. he's got twelve inches, but don't use it as a rule
  6. so what was the point of the first post :wallbash: :wallbash:
  7. best thing about that rolfe, just imagine the amount of people the customer will tell that story too
  8. ferreting or pets, another good reason not to breed just for the sake of it
  9. I use 2x2 mesh to make pidgeon traps, I'll get a picture up later for you
  10. rolfe beat me to it, was going to say that is a nice handful you have
  11. Bloody hell stubbs, one time then thrown, i get about 4-5 outings with mine, and i find that they usually start to play up abit before they pack up, giving me enough warning to change them, but everyone to their own mate, fair play. as I said, it works out to around 16p per battery, 32p per collar x 4 collars = £1.32 per outing, if I was ferreting a sat/sun, then yup Id probably use the same ones, but mostly ferret every other weekend, in which case, I bin them
  12. I get mine from e bay, normally pay around a tenner (£10) for 60 or so, then simply use them once and throw away, I used to save them and get use's from them, but at that price its not worth risking them dying on a trip out
  13. tell me bout it pat, and a re homing centre, took five of richies ones in, although Ive told him he can have them back, when he realises he wants to get back into ferreting only one litter this year, and that was one too many
  14. I had thought that too, and told the owner, of course they dont want areas cut through although the actually thickness at bottom of hedge is probably only 200mm and very dense, a zig zagged longnet on the field side, may stop the running the length, and I doubt many will bolt roadside, but you'd still need to gaurd that side, more for emerging ferts than rabbits, normally I would have told them Id come back in the latter part of year, but Ive ferreted this land for around 2yrs, its managed by "strutt & parker" a very big land management company, and through ferreting this, I was then give
  15. so, we discorved that one of the snipped hobs I have, is still infact firing "live rounds" after he was put with an albino jill ferret belonging to richie, Ive had the jill for a little over 5 weeks, as richie has decieded to take a break from it all for a while, she gave birth 4 weeks ago, and was very possesive on us looking at them, but today she decieded to move them from the sleeping area, out into the open, probably due to the heat, so got a couple of quick pictures of them, six in total,
  16. one of my permissions has been on at me for a couple of months, asking me to ferret their field, even thogh they have rabbit proof fencing around their garden area, which Is in their field, the buggers still get in an eat their planted veg anyway, I asked them to cut a 3ft strip alongside the boundary hedge for the longnet to be positioned, which they did last week, myself and daughter "alix" turned up around 9am, the first warren got us the only two rabbits of the day, a 3/4 grown and a pregnant doe, one area we ferreted, was filled with nothing but baby rabbits, which the ferts failed to ca
  17. ah, see now your adding more infomation, in that case, can only say, give it a try, if your being given it, no worries
  18. yes mate, I have a mk3 terrier collar that I use on my large hobs there is no difference apart from the collar, 200mm for ferret, 400mm for terrier, just cut mine down to 300mm
  19. and I'll add, careful when hitting the post reply button, you posted the same message three times, Ive merged them alltogether this time, next time I'll just deleate
  20. looks like Im too soft then, Id already rung around a few places, and had settled of most jobs being around £90, so 3 to 4 visits for rats/mice £90 all in, of course my first job was via word of mouth from the ladies guild talk I gave, little old lady plagued with mice, felt sorry for her, and gave her a 30% discount so £63 all in, but its only 2 minutes up the road, and may do me well in recomendations christ foxy, your making yourself sound holly'er than thou have I wronged you in a past life or something, cheers matt,
  21. nope, dont use the firms van, use my 4x4, as for stock, most of what Ive aquired has been destined for the skip treatments last 3 or 4 visits, and at the end, the baits and BAIT STATIONS are lifted, all go in the bin, except mine, which are taken home and washed, and re used, just the boxes, not baits of course,
  22. our employer actually knows most pesties do "privates" and advised us bout public liability insurances, So your employer is giving its staff insurance advice on becoming a competitor??? no mate, not giving, advising, and as for competitor, totally different, our firm sub contracts to london underground, us night workers dont do any domestic property, so me doing households in my area, 40 plus miles from my work, is not what Id call being in competition with them and if anything, a disaplinary would come before dismissal, where I would argue my case, without blowing my own trumpe
  23. our employer actually knows most pesties do "privates" and advised us bout public liability insurances,
  24. dont normally read news papers, but was waiting for me missus while she had a haircut, daily mirror had a story bout a guy who had mice in his loft, called a firm called dial-a-pest, from norfolt, middx they quoted £65 per half hour, plus materials which he agreed too, they stayed 28 minutes, and charged his account for £881 he eventually got back just over £600 so they ended up charging around £150 and didnt get rid of the problem, as they baited for mice (bait stations), yet it was rats just shows you, how many cowboys out there, calling themselves pesties
