  1. What did the owner do, probably not the first time it's done it ... Hope your pup recovers physically and mentally poor little thing atb
  2. Mine get to run round my farm/fields In the morning they also follow me when I go out on the horses the two usually run round going mad chasing each other for about a hour on morning. Then on a night the they either go lamping or free run round the farm again. But we go out 3/4 times a week. If they don't get worked hard then they will go for a hours walk day after. But as hs been said each dogs different. Atb Nat
  3. It was a 20 acre field with a beck running throught it, the 1 tractor was the only thing in it. It was just unlucky that in all that open field the rabbit decided to make it for the tractor
  4. Well done had the same with my pup other night builds both mine and his confidence like u say puts any worries to a side many more to come hopefully atb Nat

  7. (Touch wood) iv been out 4 times a week for 2-3 weeks now fair enough he's a pup and only got 4 rabbits on lamp but he's still running on different ground he's fell twice and slipped into a tractor from which he got a tiny spot of blood on his leg but that's it so far ... Hope I haven't jynxed myself haha
  8. Got some new permission about 18 acres only 2 fields so didn't take long. Took the pup out been going out about 4 times a week so he's starting to look at beam etc. Spotted a sitter so was straight onto it dog nailed it his first sitter 3rd one on the lamp so far ;-) had a slip real good long run turned it 6 times but got to the hedge. On his way back to us he was onto another must of been a ok run considering it was in the dark(dad with lamp I swear he's going death he coludnt hear were dog was!!) he ended up behind us inches away from the rabbit nearly smacking into me legs! Moved onto next
  9. this will probs sound like a stupid question nut is this the ibprufen we take ? a vet who is a gh speshalist told me it was ok and this man nows his shit
  10. In the end I picked him up n carried him out of horses field I thought the horses would b scared of the lamp and stay away but my mares a bitch n hates dogs so decided to join the chase thought we'd leave them alone haha

  13. Went out tonight it was pups 3rd time on lamp past 2 times he's had hold of a rabbit and dropped both ... But tonight was different. Rocked up at my horses field raring to go first run was a decent 1 turned it twice but disapeared through the hedge. Same field he got his 2nd run long run turned it about 4 times(once out of the hedge) the bang pup got his first bunny even better after he got his hold he retrived live to hand! His next run wasn't to good but think he was put off by the horses. Gave dog a breather whilst we walked to next field only got two runs first one had the potential to be
  14. Cracking start obviously a sensible decision waiting I'm hoping fir a similar result tonight with my pup ... But it's his 3rd time out haha
  15. Mines not the best so far but it's the pups (about 18mths) first few times on the lamp. He's had some gd runs and had hold of two rabbits but dropped both all a learning curve he's getting there
  16. You can get a bright orange one too haha
  17. He looks a little stunner with good breeding what are plans for him?
  18. I'm going to take him ferreting Saturday hopefully That should build his confidence a bit. I'm not angry at him fr not getting any more concerned that soon he will be. This summer he's had 2 (not planned) young rabbits but fully grown he took them fine during day. Cheers Sam il see how he goes but like u say there's not that Many 'easy' rabbits for a dog at his stage. Hope ur whippet comes on for you Nat
  19. So I take it it does affect the way they run?
  20. Took the pup out last night just fr a hour. Not the best but not his worse night. First run was a ok start turned it twice on the last turn he grabbed the rabbit... But dropped it ignored it and carried on. Next run rabbit went straight into cover but my dad didn't get the red filter off when the rabbit started to run, maybe I'm just trying to make a excuse but the pup didn't seem to run properly with the filter on? The last 2 runs were good runs lots of turns and he wad really trying right up behind the rabbit but didn't strike. I'm worried he's going to get put off putting effort in and not
  21. Mines the same, been close to a couple of foxes too if she got close enough the fox wouldn't stand a chance if she had a good chase without it disapearing through a hedge she could easily take one. Been lamping with us a few times but she's not fast enough and just puts the pup off, great ferreting dog tho
  22. I'm out for a quick shine with the young dog hoping for a result
  23. Yeah we don't often get spooky with lush weather like this haha good luck
