red light-charge.......orange light-24hrs.........green light-36hrs, if it was fully charged when you brought it out it should take 12hrs before you get an orange light, it could be a faulty battery, they're supposed to be let go flat and charged once a month, that probably doesn't happen when they sitting on a shelf in the shop. Just reading back over your post you said it had an orange light when you put it in the charger, you should only have a red light when its charging and then you should have a double green flash every 4 seconds when its charged.

Are they a dying breed or are they still out there. I know a fella who's been looking for a pup for a while now, I've been keeping my eye out for him just watching classifieds here and elsewhere but they seem to be a rare thing even in the uk maybe they all get passed around between terrier men by word of mouth without an ad being posted anywhere. Anyway the topics there for discussion and I've a good home for a pup if anyone wants to drop me a pm.

I bought a Jill recently off a fella in south Co. Kilkenny(maybe someone here knows him) but I spotted 2 big hobs in another cage and I commented on they're size, "ya think they're big" he said "they're only 6 months old come out here and I'll show you big ferrets" he took me around a corner to where he had another hutch with 5 of the biggest hob ferrets I ever saw, size wise they were like cats, I was holding one of them across the shoulders and I was under pressure to hold him because of his girth I couldn't get a good grip.

Love to see some pictures and watch him (hopefully) getting nursed back to health, good luck with it anyway:)

I've owned both, for me I prefer a .223, its quieter and I find its a lot easier to see your hits with a .223 than a .22-250, power wise I've seen foxes drop like sacks of sh!te up to 300yards so I don't think its lacking in power, just ticks all the boxes for me.

Ase Utre Jet-Z Cqb In .223 Any Good?
gary.l replied to riflehunter583's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
I've a cqb on my .223 and I hunt with two other lads who have .223's one has a t8 the other has a predator 8 wildcat mod, hand on my heart there's no noticable difference between them, you'd think the odd time that one is better than the other but thats more to do with the area its shot in ie in an open area it will sound quieter, whereas shooting in a area where your surrounded by trees it'll sound louder, when all three are shot in the same place there's no noticable difference between them. -

Well done Hard Grafter hope I can get a dig like that next year. -
Made this to beat a craving a few weeks ago but only finished the painting and put the latches on it yesterday, would of put a curvy back on it but I've no jigsaw or clamps and tbh this functions fine

Happy Christmas to all, hopefully if I hang around this time next year I'll have my own list of enemies

I find they can still get ya when your thumbs under the front leg, think it works better if your thumbs over the front leg rather than under it with the other leg between your index and middle finger.

Thanks for the replies, if I get a jill and get this lad a vasectomy would that be the best combination of 2 ferrets to have, My line of thinking being a vasectomy won't effect his hormones so it won't effect his growth or working ability(his fathers a brute) and he'll be able to cover the jill when she's in season to avoid her dying from infections.

Just picked up a young hob off a friend of a friend yesterday and finished building the hutch, just a few latches needed and a ramp so he can get down to the bottom and I'll put a hammock, a few tubes and a little buddy for him soon aswell, been years since I did any ferreting can't wait to get out at it again, fond memories.

Thanks folks, I'm just getting back into it so I might leave that area for a while, also should have mentioned its a field of winter oats, the farmer wants the rabbits gone but I don't know if he realises I'd be digging holes in his crops.
-
Had a farmer showing me around a new permission today, one of the areas was along the sides of an 8ft deep culvert/drain runing down to the river, the burrow entrances along the side of the drain were around 2 to 3ft down from the level of the field/ground level, but the burrows could go down deeper I suppose and the ground is very sandy, would yee lads ferret it or would it be too dodgy?

thanks peeps, yeah I was thinking there's prob nothing wrong with them, still its a bit stomach turning when you think of the filthy b*****ds while your having your scrambled eggs, just needed to know for sure.

Hi all, I've a rat infestation out in the chicken run, which will be dealt with but its after putting me off eating any eggs which I've been giving to the dogs every day, are they ok for me to eat, I'm probably being a bit paranoid but could do with a bit of reasurance.

Thanks lads, that clears it up a bit

Hi lads, 1st off I'm as green as they come when it comes to terrier work, I did a lot of ferreting years ago went on a few digs with my mates border but all my hunting in recent has been with shotgun, rifle and lurcher but I've always viewed this forum with a lot of interest and wanted to have a go. Anyway I've seen a few threads in the working section where lads are digging foxes this time of year, I was always of the opinion that foxes only go to ground when raising cubs or are hunted to ground. So when yee go for a dig this time of year do yee first have to flush a fox and hunt it to gr

Hi all, just gave the pup his first rag of a fox tail this morning and thought I'd share, when he got that first feel of fur in his mouth and scent in his nose something clicked in him, there was a few little huffs and wuffs out of him that I haven't heard before, a lot more drive for it than the usual ragging a teatowel crack
