  1. Been spreading muck this week, its a bit fresh for my liking but it may do. I'll start sowing this day next week.
  2. I've only ever grown a few 1st/2nd earlies in the garden before, this year I have 1st earlies Colleen and Duke of York, 2nd earlies British Queens, and a main crop of Golden Wonders and Sarpo Mira. My question is should I sow them all at once or should I sow the 1st and 2nd earlies and wait another few weeks to sow the maincrop potatoes?

  5. The rotavator turned out to be €75 to hire for a day but got talking to one of my farmer neighbours who has a tiller took him about 15minutes to make pulp out of it and do what would have taken me a month with a spade and a few days with a rotavator, better job than I woulda done too, happy out
  6. line bred, worker to worker, few of the lads on here have pups out of the same litter they'd fill ya in better than I would
  7. Photo of my lad from today, he's 5 months and a bump for the thread.
  8. Was thinking that myself, not good news for the local rabbits if it is http://www.cfsph.iastate.edu/Factsheets/pdfs/rabbit_hemorrhagic_disease.pdf
  9. true I'd say its some scald cleaning chicken shit off the paving every day though. Nice pup Keeps
  10. my arse needs stitches just from reading that
  11. No tried all them lads no joy, I'm guessing there's only so many copies left and they're being sold for £50, even on ebay I see them going for between £45 to £50. I might get the Nick Steven's book instead.
  12. I'm after trying to buy this book(David Harcombe-Work them hard treat them like hero's) from terrierman.com but they emailed me back saying they're out of stock, Darcybooks are also out of stock and its £50 on anglebooks which I won't be paying, anyone know where I'd get a copy?
  13. Here's my spot, I cut the ash tree's as they were blocking all the light last summer and burnt all the small stuff, the next couple of dry days we get I''m going hire a rotavator, might get a cheap ph kit and see if I need to lime it also:)
  14. Thats true, they're alot braver in twos when they're confronted with something new.
  15. Will do, I'm not knockin him either just maybe I'm going wrong somewhere rather then him, next one I catch I'll let him see the lurcher makin short work of it.
  16. feck me was it bionic and wearing a suit of armour..... it should only take a few seconds he`ll get the hang of it He was terrified of getting bit, mainly what he did was bark, growl and paw at it, hope he put in a better effort the next time
  17. How long does it usually take a terrier pup to kill his 1st rat, I'm watching youtube video's titled pups 1st rat and in these videos its all over in seconds. Took my lad an hour and a half to kill his 1st one today.
  18. I like reading the David Harcombe stuff myself he's a good writer, you can read a few of his articles for free here http://www.earthdog-runningdog.com/category/august-2012/
  19. I know the feeling, my one got a deep cut on her side 2 weeks ago, the vet cost me €200, had to be done though if it got infected which I could tell by the deepness of the cut it would it'd be the end of her, need to get some pet insurance, you'd think you had a few pound saved for a night out and then something like that happens.
  20. Sorry for butting in on your thread 1888, I'm just wondering if I used drainage pipe what would be the ideal diameter 9inch or 12inch?
  21. Say your looking for a good ratting jrt, your not going to need dogs bred from line after line "earthdogs" and I'm sure the lads breeding these dogs mightn't want to part with a pup to someone who just wants to work rats either. Do yee think what yee'd refer to as "to many lads breeding shite" ie your typical donedeal ad that says "mother is a good ratter" would probably be alright for ratting.
  22. Sorry to hear that, I saw a picture here of a nice jrt I think it could of been yours(maybe in a thread about the IWTC not sure), definately one of the irish lads anyway.
  23. see the edit it my last post, it shouldn't be orange while on charge, (btw sorry if you already know this)
