  1. They will still reload ok, the flat spot will be pushed out when you resize the necks.
  2. There wasn't a choice he only had green in stock but its not a shocking green its quite dark simillar to swaro's.
  3. Done it, been out today and got the 8x43's I'm well pleased with em, even now at 8pm I can still see accross the field near our house
  4. The yanks can get away with it though, it's a bit more acceptable over there, I think there are too many do gooding tree huggers over here who want to keep all the fluffy creatures safe and sound and don't fully understand or appreciate life outside of towns.
  5. Yeh, I've always been a bit of a twitcher but I love my fieldsports so I tend to do both at the same time which is ok to mention on here but I thought I'd better keep it a bit privi on the bird forum about shooting Mr Fox and Rabbit hence the need for good light capturing bins.
  6. Hutchey, tried some of the hawke bins today, very impressed how good they are for the money, the 8x43 collect more light than the 10x43 but you loose that little bit extra magnification........decitions,decitions,decitions. I am defo getting a pair though.
  7. Our kid uses a WMR and has done for quite a while and the only critisism is the rounds bounce, they don't expand the same as the HMR and mainly when he is shooting crows or rabbits at range he has had the odd ricochet, luckily where our permission is there is nothing else around for miles.
  8. Great gun, I have one aswell, I wouldn't bother spending money on mine as I abuse it in the field, its put many a rabbit on the table and all I ever do to it is oil it and run a bronze brush down the barrels now and again, its never let me down. I used to have the number 4 before the yeoman and the stock split from the trigger to the buttplate so I part exed it for a 20 bore o/u while it was still in one piece, it was a good gun before that happened though.
  9. Same here, I don't mind paying a little extra to support local business and for the convenience of going to an actual shop should problems arrise.
  10. Eley subs everytime, they are very consistant.
  11. Have you had chance to use your frontier ED 10x43 yet? I dropped my old bino's at the weekend and there truly fubar'd, I am looking to replace them and have had a look at the Hawkes online but you can't beat first hand experience.
  12. All the best everyone, Has anyone any idea's where I can get a goose from over the holidays without paying the extortionate shop prices? North West area please. Thanks all.
  13. The thing is with over unders, they are Heavy, great for clay shooting or staying in your hide waiting for pidgeon but you walk round the fields with one all day and you will begin to hate it, personally I use a side by side because they are a lot lighter and a great field gun, if you want to go down the O/U route you might consider a 20 bore and I would definately leave the semi alone until you have experience, they require a bit more thought to make safe and when out in the field climbing fences and jumping ditches accidents can happen. Get down to your local RFD and try a few, I wouldn't s
  14. Eukanuba for working dogs, its all I feed my springer and he is very fit with energy to spare.
  15. I have shot thousands of the Hornady V-Max and never had a problem at all, sometimes there can be a small hairline crack on the neck but this has never had any adverse effect, my HMR loves the V-Max and I haven't found any other round to better it, and I have tried them all.
  16. Have a look at the weatherby Vanguard, they are guarantee'd sub MOA straight from the box and won't break the bank.
  17. AYA yeoman ejector, I love mine, its great for walking round the fields with, its not heavy and handles well, the ejectors are getting a bit harder to get old of lately though.
  18. Could the light be reflecting back off the wet mod?, you say when you removed the mod the problem had gone.
  19. I believe I am correct in saying that only the 455 is available now with thumbhole/laminate stock. Your right, but there are still a lot of gunsmiths with old stock who will be willing to give you a good deal just to get rid of their older rifles, like I said in an earlier post, I picked one up for £320 only three months ago.
  20. 210 1/2 most gunsmiths have them, I suggest you read a good springer training book this will help you no end to get your dog on the whistle.
  21. Try the CZ 452 its exactly the same as the 455 only its a fixed barrel, because everyone is going for the new 455 you should pick up a 452 a lot cheaper, I got one about 3 months ago for £320, it loves hornady 17 grain and shoots very tight groups at 100 yards, if you want a .22 get a dedicated one, its saves a lot of messing about changing barrels and re zeroing plus they are cheap enough, you would still need an extra slot on your FAC for the extra barrel anyway. Fair point, is the interchangable barrel the only difference? I have got the 452 thumbhole/laminate stock and my shooting b

  23. Not bad for a hour's shooting, it raises the spirit when the weather's crap and its lashing down and your still getting bunnies, I'm going to give the HMR an outing tonight.
  24. Need a replacement carb, preferably one that bolts on without to much trouble. thanks.
