  1. Got a new Diana 56 thumbhole in .177 today and I'm astounded how accurate it is, its the first time I have ever opted for a 177 but I couldn't be more pleased with it, I took it down to the range today and zero'd it on the 35yd range, I half expected it to move around a little with it being a new rifle but once I got it zero'd I couldn't miss, I was hitting pellet on pellet all the time, even my worse group didn't move out of the bull(5 pence size). I haven't heard much about these rifles before, only that my cousin used to have a model 52 a few years ago and he used to rave on about how good
  2. Ahhh I'm not going to publish it on here or there we be none left in the shop next time I go I will send you a pm.
  3. Hi, Mine didn't like the 20gr either but loves the 17gr hornady and shoots well with the winchesters also, but I mainly use the hornady's because they are accurate and the cheapest to buy near me at £9 a box, I can't believe the difference in prices from shop to shop!! in one place they were asking £16.50 for the same round so it pays to look around before you buy.
  4. I got a MkII in .22 and its in really good nick. The dog is my 3yr old springer Jake, he is the best bushing dog I have ever worked with, absolutely fearless with the heart of a Lion, I work him every day and couldn't of asked for a better dog.
  5. My previous WMR loved the CCI 40g Maxi Mag HP V, but my latest one is not so keen, groups gone out to 25-30mm, loves the Hornady 30g V-Max though, thats just the way it is sometimes So, yours will possibly like CCI, perhaps I can help you, I have a brand new 500 brick available for £100 collected! Nice one, just got a brick of Federal 30gr HP for £85,i'll give them a wirl and see if they fair any better,I don't think the crows will know the difference!!! well most of em anyway...lol
  6. Mmmmm perhaps CCI have changed the powder or something between batches!!!! I know there used to be a lot of complaints about squibs aswell not so long ago and this seems to have stopped or at least it is not as regular, I have also noticed with the hornady there aren't as many cracks in the HMR necks as there used to be, they must have tweeked the manufacture but I bet if they read this post they will re-do the fps on the boxes!!
  7. Took your advice and got myself a nice TX200,I was suprised how quiet it was even with no moderator, watch out rats here I come....lol.
  8. Don't believe everything it says on the tin, I have chronographed hundreds of the Hmr and the Wmr Vmax the Hmr are on average 2703fps and the Wmr are 2191fps in my maths thats 512fps difference, I'm not knocking either round they are both pretty good my .22 mustn't like the hornady's because I can't get tight groups at a hundred yards but can with the HMR.
  9. The Wmr doesn't shoot as flat as the Hmr, even with the 30grain rounds they are travelling 500ft/sec slower than a 17gr Hmr and in calm conditions is nowhere near as accurate, as far as the wind is concerned I havent tried both of them in strong winds.
  10. You have to specify .22WMR and the price varies drastically from place too place but about £13 a box on average but I just got Federal 30grain hollow points for £8.50 a box.
  11. Have you still got the Tx ? I,m only in St helens.
  12. Its a 30 inch multi choke, comes with 3 chokes, gun is in very good condition and has got really nice wood. £500 Northwest.
  13. Thanks Pianoman, I know what you are saying and I kind of suspected the answer myself when I seen the condition of the gun and the price they wanted, I really do want an old hw springer but they only had one in at £600, I don't mind sticking a couple of hundred quid with the tempest for a half decent one, but the farm I have started to shoot is lifting with rats so I need one pretty quick so I was toying with the gamo to put me on till one came available, they wouldn't drop too much money from £130 asking price would they?
  14. You will need to apply for a FAC to the police force of your county, you will need written permission for the land you intend to shoot and you will need to have a pretty crime free past. Also it is not recommended although not illegal to use rimfire for fox control so you would probably be advised to apply for centrefire but as this is your first application it would be difficult without a mentor to overlook your shooting. Best of luck.
  15. Hi chaps, I'm a bit out of touch with airguns lately but I shoot a farm near me and I have been clearing some rats on the yard, however I am limited as to where I can shoot on the yard because I'm using a rimfire and its too much gun for this. I called by an airgun shop today and they had quite a few on display to say the least, but I can't justify spending loads for a state of the art airgun, so I picked up a few second hand rifles and come accross this one, its a .22 Gamo and Stupidly I forgot to get the model number/name but it has an underleaver fixed to the bottom of the barrel and when
  16. Sorry, yes you do need a licence for expanding but not for solids, I think you can still buy the keyrings of the bullet with case in various calibers, this would cause an upset if you needed these on a ticket.
  17. Its a 30 inch multi choke, comes with 3 chokes, gun is in very good condition and has got really nice wood. £500 Northwest.
  18. No you don't need a firearms to store cases or wierdly bullet heads but you do need one for the primers.
  19. I hope your proposed business does not require too much letter writing!!!!! I would invest in a good spell checker or enroll on a decent grammar course.
  20. Try Eley subs also, I used winchester for years till I tried these, my gun loves em.
  21. Don't know about .243. but they shoot well through .223, been using them for a few months now and they have proved very consistant, the brass is good aswell if you want to start reloading your empty cases, if not i'm sure someone would buy them off you, keeps the cost of buying new factory down.,
  22. Hi, Like the title says, I've just got some Hornady Amax 168grn and I can't find any specific load data on them, I've loaded 168grn Sierra and I've found my guns sweetspot load of 46.2grn. Has Anyone else used the Hornady and what loads have you used? I am going to start off with 45grn and give them a go tomorrow and see how they get on.
