  1. Full contact trials are banned in all european countries exeption for France and Slovakia. In france you need to be member of terrier club to attend the trial.
  2. the two bitches in the pics are pure breed Jagdterriers, small and well built, one 7 kilos the other less than 6.both of them come from "od sigetske sume" kennels in croatia
  3. you can see a very good jagdterrier bitch in my topic "yesterday pics",and a very good looking one too, small and well built for earth work. All the dog I've now are from croatian lines and one from hungarian/serbian lines. And Lambro you are wrong saing balkan linese are better than german lines, they are only cheaper and easier for us italians to get,all the best dogs in the balkans have studs from germany or austria: Khan von de zeiler klinge, otto vom herrenwald, nick von ringaau just to name a few.All the best dogs you can find in croatia now have a german dog in their pedigrees,I cant rememb
  4. few pics from yesterday removing stones drawing dog and fox ragging the death fox Fany, outstanding worker despite being totally blind
  5. We mainly hunt rock and undiggable place and the dogs we use are jagdterriers. As for bolting badgers is more easily said than done, but with some tricks it can happen(not often). You will need a very smart dog, stay far away from the sett entrance, relise him from the lead when you are 20 or 30 metres away,if you go near the entrance or walk over the sett it'll never bolt. Then charge your gun with buckshots and hope for the best.
  6. In Italy every dog have to be chipped, its a national law.It cost us about 15 euros for dog.
  7. If this man is an experienced terrierman and even able to sell good dogs, how it comes that he has never lost a dog to ground ?probably you are one of the most lucky man in the world, you need to try Italian lottery there are more than millions euros jackpot And please explain to a poor italian hunter how you do,as we have lost 4 in a year?is there a small possibility that you are not going hunting?
  8. this post could probley go on for ever but whats the point simple as this lads in the uk wont double dogs up for 2 simple reason non of us want unessary vet bills and another if your dog or bitch can,t do the job it,s self well whats the point of keeping it non as far as im concerned and that might sound a bit hard but thats just terriers is,nt it !!!!!!!!!!! I'm happy for you if you allway have top notch dog,but remember that the dog world is made of stairs now you are on top but a moment later you are bottom.I started 2008 seasons with 6 good onest working dogs for some misfortune
  9. a lot of hypocrisy here as ever while talking doubling up.I think 95% of us has done that for some reason but the real super internet terrierman are too good to admit.I've done it some times cos at the moment my dogs were not up for it,and I'm onest to admit it.I've used couples of dogs and bitchs that were kennelled togheter, never had too much trouble. That said is better to use one at the time, and test the dog really.
  10. One more thing if you are working rocks and you want a "bolt or kill" dog then a well breed jagdterrier is the dog for you My Duvadirto Arnold (Rip) died to ground in october doing his job a well built dog, small enough for every earthbut up on the legs for rocks.A proven fox killer.
  11. In france they are really common and used for for boars hunting and underground work, even in estern european countries there are a lot
  12. My family and friends are using jagdterriers for underground work from the late 70s. well breed jagdterriers are not too big for underground work, and really hard sometimes too much. They have a real good nose, very strong jaws but they can be dog aggressive.Good estern europeans lines produce an hight number of proven fox killers. At the moment the best jagdterriers for underground work are in Serbia and Croatia. Some blood lines from this countries are totally mad and need an expert and determined owner.
  13. I dont know what the things are in uk but here in southern tuscany there are very little foxes to ground during the winter, only in the coldest days of jenuary or febr or the rare days it snows,as the climate is too warm and the mediterranean vegetation is so thick it offers good cover all year round. So if you need to controll fox numbers in pheasants and hares reproduction areas you need to do it at cubbing time.Sad but true.
  14. One time I took 2 guys from the coast for an hunt with me,we had a good day and I think they were friends. But they kept coming to my earths, digging them without backfilling and killing quarry just for the hell of it.But then one day someone shot a 12g slug no more than 4 inches from their head.here the woods are really thick and you dont know who is near Never seen them anymore.
  15. 308 win is one of the most used ammunitions for wild boars here in Italy, the most used is still 30-06 springfield.I own a browning Bar2 cal. 30-06.
  16. You must be happy with the dogs you have in your country, cos in other countries like Italy the dogs level is not that good. That said I'll never pay that money for a pup if I can have an adult working dog for less. That said I'll not comment more on this topic, enough said. And good luck to Panna for finding the right dog.
  17. I think you have seen little or none working dogs.I've seen teckels working on par with good terriers but with a better nose and a better voice and a far better temperament. About fox terriers now, hungary is probably one of the last places where working foxterriers are still breed,I've seen outstanding smooth foxterriers owned by the late Ferenc Kulcksar and by another hungarian,a big man with a beard,I cant remember his name now,and belive me those dogs were as game as they come, the late Ferenc owned a white-tan dog that many times drawed fox from undigged earths, when I wanted to buy it he a
  18. The Parson russell I've at the moment,an honest worker despite being past his best and having lost most of his tooths, was sired by Rednock Leonard imported by a friend of mine.Leonard was an outstanding worker to fox, porcupine and badger, and was son and grandson to Rednock Rusty, that carried in his pedigree some of the best old-fashioned english working lines from some great terriermen as D.Jones(David Davies),K.Coker(New Forest),M.Guilt and famouse badger digger T.Adsett.So you can have good blood lines of working parsons even in continental europe.
  19. I cant see why someone from hungary needs to buy dogs out o their country. In hungary they have outstanding Jagdterriers, fox terriers and teckels. Its from 1978 that my friends go to hungary to buy working terriers.I've been there 3 times myself, last time I bought 5 adult and working jagdterrier for 1800 euros all of them. And they all worked well, two died to ground, two are blind cos of porcupine spikes.I bought one of best working terrier ever seen in this part of tuscany for 300 euros in 2004 in Pecs(hungary). In every gipsy village near the croatian and austrian border there are dozens of jagd
  20. I've never worked coons simply cos in Italy there are no coons, but I've worked my dogs on badger and I think that a dog that can handle badger underground can handle coons too.
  21. A coypu can badly damage a dog,his tooths are like scissors, but their earths are generally not too deep and quite large.Pound for pound rats are harder.
  22. I would do this even for someone've never known,if he lose his dogs to ground.I do this for the dogs not for stupid hunters. My first memory of working dogs to ground is my dad and uncle digging in rock for two days only to find a death dog.I was less then 10 yo and that dog was my best friend.
  23. This morning,we went back to the earth, with a power hammer I had taken from a builder friend,a generator capable of doing 380w electric energy and 200 metres electric cable.but luckily we didn't need it,as the old bitch was waiting for us at the ole.She is really mauled, has lost all his remainig tooths and is probably ready for retirament but she is alive and thats is the most important thing.Hope this will be a good lesson for the owner. Welcome back old Astra .
  24. Thats a good idea Liam,I'll phone to a friend of mine that works in constructions to see if he can help with some tool. The problem with the dog's owner is that he likes his wine to much and keeps doing stupid things.when he does not drink he is a good hunter and a generous guy,but when he drinks......... I'll come back tomorrow with more news.
  25. Saturday evening, after an hard day hunting wild boars I got a phone call from a friend, asking for help cos he lost a dog and a bitch to ground.I said that I'd go and help him the next morning.Sunday morning at -5 c°,with all the digging tols in my car, I drove the 70 km to this place and met with my friend. When we arrived to the earth,I became mad :a really step bank totally made of stone with two small hole disappearing in the stone.I was yet sure that my tools would be totally useless.I had an hard go to my friend, said to him that he is a total idiot,to put not one but two dogs to ground in
