  1. Yesterday I was out with some friends in the fomouse wineyard region of Chianti, central Tuscany.THe first earth we tried we had a quick bolt with an outstanding Jagdterrier bitch in a small rock pile.We tried a few more without success untill we come to a two holer in a steep wood,we entered Arnold a good jagd terrier and after two minutes he was bailing and mixing.after half an hour with the dog hard at his quarry we heard the sound of rocks collapsing. We could no more ear the dog and we started feeling the worst.we tried to dig to the dog but more soil and rocks were falling. So we made a t
  2. Why you dont hunt them with huonds and guns like we do in Italy and France? You cnt beat the sound of a pack of hounds in full cry
  3. Try the 270 win,you can't go wrong. It's fast, flat and has much more stopping power than a 243 without being destructive. Her in Italy you can't shoot anithing smaller than 7mm(270) to boar and red/fallow deer.favourite calibres are 270 win,308 win and 7mm rem mag for deers, and 30-06 and 308 for hunting boars with dogs
  4. It can be good you have only to use the right bullet:if you shot roe use a hard jacketed bullet,if you are shooting bigger quarry use a softer bullett( e.g. nosler ballistic tip,the one with a plastic point) That said my favourite for roes is the 270 win
  5. My russell is a about 14 inch and 22/23 pounds and I rate him a bit to big but still usefull, but I dont see a 30 pound dog used undergrond if no as a drawing dog,how many times you have to dig to the dog trapped in the tubes?
  6. I've had terriers on Porcupines a lot of times,by accident as it's illegal.Really dangerous for dogs, porcupine thorns can badly damage or even kill the dog. My friends down the cost work their dogs on coypus, not an interesting quarry but somethimes they will give the dogs some nasty bites.
  7. You'll not have problems with rats if the recipients are hight from the floor
  8. I free feed my boars hounds with dry food, and they are never too fat,I use low energy dry food when the hunting season his closed and change it to hight energy when hunting starts. My terrier lives in the house and I feed him one time a day,he is fatter than the hounds
  9. I think a 14/14 dog will look starved, my dog is about 14 inch and 20 pounds and he 's no way fat but lean and well muscled
  10. Smoke has been banned in pubblic places(bar, pubs restourants, working places)about 2 years ago here in Italy,if you want to smoke you go out and then back in. The pubs and the clubs are full as they were before if they have lost some smoking costumer they've gained twice in non smokers. I'm smoker but I think it was a good law
  11. If you want to import one from Italy I think I can help you
  12. for me slim, long legs, beautifull ass bossibly blonde. The tipical russian beauty you know the like
  13. That dog was a Briquet griffon vandeen is way bigger than a basset and faster,I've owned six of them in the past, they are good for finding and have a good voice, but they will follow the boars for too much time and are an handfull to recover.

last week here in italy 2 rottwailers killed a 9 mounth old girl taking her away from his granma harms.another small boy is fighting for live after being bitten from his own Akita. I think in the last year to much people here bought Pit-bulls,Rottwailers and similar dogs with no idea of what they are.the problem is the owner
  16. field and woods castle and mediterranean woods a raimbow seen from my window
  17. my dog is a pure breed parson russell and grand son to Gruby's dog.he works quite well.sadly he was bitten by a viper august 2006 and he now have liver and kidneys problem, he still works well but need lot of time to recover. his father was imported from germany Rednock lines and was really an outstanding dog on par with every jagdterrier I've seen.he died to ground june 2006.
  18. good lines of jagdterriers (created out of black fells) can produce dogs capable of killing a big percentage of fox.
  19. It will say nothing to most of you but mine was Giancarlo Antonioni, Fiorentina captain and real icon in 70s and 80s,he spent all his life in a poor team giving away opportunity to play in big clubs.that given he still played 76 match in the national team and won the World cup in 1982
  20. Onother reason why I value a good bolter is tht we are not young forever. I'give you an exemple,my uncle is 76 and despite being in good shape for his age he can't no longer dig but he still know hundreds of earths and he still shots better than me .So with a good bolter he can still enjoy a day out and do some pest controll while with a stayer he only can wait for it to come out
  21. if you work terriers here where I live a good bolter is the best thing you can have as 90% of earths are undiggable(rock).with a stayer you will spent day and nights only waiting and probably have him killed in a short time.
  22. Nahh.........deffo gloves often see them dead on the roads hear it's not a marten, marten has dark yellow fur under his throat.the ones that are smaller and with white throat are called here in Italy "faina" but I dont know the english name. They are far more common and are not as elusive as Marten Find out the latin names Marten:martes martes Faina:martes foina
  23. I think is better to use a full bar,not a pipe, the pipe is lighter but weaker. If you want to make an impression in hard and rocky ground you need some weight.
