    Well here is my two bits, If my dogs do not come find me when out and about after a run or any thing I send them on to greener pastures were they can be as retarded as they like. There are two many dogs to be wasteing hunting time looking for a dog that is not keen on being your hunting partner. All my dogs come back no matter how far away they ran. If I have to go find them It is there last hunting trip.

    Well, If I had one I would try one. I have seen them at coursing events here and they out performed the saluki by alot they were fast and finished the course with little effort. We have show bred dogs in the north part of north america and to find a pure bred to add into ones lines you have to pic the best of a bad bunch. Good luck with your dog

    I would get rid of the dog however you see fit. But do not waste time and money on something that is not right from the start. I would PTS and get another after all it is a dog not a kid. Funny how all the non-hunters post about rescue.

    I have one she is 23.5 and very keen, good feet,fast and Stamina galore just wish she was bigger as she does not have the power for the game I hunt. She has caught jack rabbits dureing the day and had no problem grabbing them as my stags tend to miss a few grabs before they strike right. she is very game almost thinks she is a bull dog not ill with other dogs just game. She is a little stubbern and I do not know why as I did not raise her, She does not pout like a greyhound she just has her way of doing things and if you have a problem with that she just wont do them.

    I agree mans best freind till they screw up, then worm food. If I kept ever dog that was no good I would be arrested I have dogs to hunt with, not have dogs then hunt to give them something to do.

    Do you think all those dogs I posted pictures of are better off dead sure they are just as happy with there life as your working dogs are! The pictures say it all. I understand not all pet homes are going to be right but I think you owe it to your dog to do the best for them when their working days are over!! pts is an easy option!! edited to add all the recued lurchers I know are neutered so they aren't going to be bred from. So maybe if ownere neutered their non workers before rehoming them that would gaurentee no useless pups from them??? I did not say anything about retireing but

    I think that some dogs work different for different people and a dog that has good qualities but you do not get on with could be rehomed, other than that I think PTS is the next option. I think if more dogs were PTS as soon as they were found wanting the better the general dog pop would be. I think that a dog that is not going to work should not be rehomed as it is the responsibilty of the owner or breeder for every pup sold If you have the emotional capacity to bring it into this world you should be prepared to take it out. playing god is a two way street.

    I hunt almost everyday in the fall, winter and spring. When the crops are in I walk only twice a week and not very long as to let them come out of condition and get a little fat and lazy. come September it is short road work to get there feet and legs right, when they get over sore feet and muscles it is five to ten miles a day untill hunting hard. Then it is walks only when not hunted for more than a day. I only road work to get the feet right then the walks are all on hunting ground off leash in a pack so to tune there noses and excersice all there muscles and if game jumps it is fun to watc

    I bought a dog from a guy who told me how good his parents were but there was excuse why they could not been shown. The guy was known and not disliked. I bought the dog raised it up tamed it down started to hunt it and it jacked all the time I complained and found out that the father was uknown and the mother was only tested a little but broke down. I culled the dog and have one less friend which is okay cause his dogs are untested shitt anyway. by the way he has pups for sale. So now I buy dogs from accomplished dog men that work there dogs I see the parents work and show them my dogs and th

    eight or nine for next season as I run them double or triple five or six days a week. Probable nine so I always have a fresh team at home. It is pretty icy and cold and snowy here and injuries are high at times, so I do not want to be without. Started with seven this year and ended up buying more as I was down to two at christmas. See what happens if I move then three. These are from last October.

    Pie was 'lost' in Arnside in the early 90's. Some of the line do start as pups with a leg defect, in which at around 6 to 8 weeks, if on their feet too much, get a really bad leg bend (the wrong way!!?) but if careful and monitored it (I crated mine up) would right its self in an hour or two. Left un-checked this could be the animals downfall. Good honest post that. good to see honesty when talking about a line of dogs

    I would like to see that other pic again the dog was on the guys walk in front of his house powerfull looking beast he was. That is why I remember the pic as well as the tail.
