    merles

I belive that it is the color on the ear. Aborder collie or bull dog with white ears is ussually deaf in the white ear and since merleing is on the white the dog would have it is similar. Breeding two merles together you get the lethal white gene were you have dead pups but any dog that has total white ear is propable deaf in that ear. As far as blind I have never seen it. Pick a puppy with solid color ears or mostly solid and you should have no problem.
  3. I think you should eat a little, Wait awhile, go to the Doc, Find out why you are sick, Then ya know what he died of. Then let us know, simple
  4. Tim what kind of bull is in the dog? How old is it? What do you run it on? I am thinking of getting a cat/bull bred to a stag for yotes. If it is not fast I will cross it to a stag again. Have you seen any like that?
  5. wow! smallmouth that is a great looking beast. did she work all quarry pre-ban?
  6. are you sure I always thought that was a "feck you retard"or "no you dumb b*****d" that is the impression my dogs leave when they look at me like that there not salukis tho.
  7. I had abitch done with deprovera worked great gave it a couple weeks before she was due in, no heat for four months bred after trail season had eight pups. she was a older bitch and she cycled regulaly before and after the injection. she was acollie. my stags and greys though I find it is a waiting game ya just never know when they will start or come back in.
  8. How can a fellla have huge litters of pups an lots of them if his dogs are in such a terribble state? I find it hard to believe that all these bashers have been there and that it is that bad
  9. I'm not saying that there are not good dogs from unproven parents. I am saying that you should breed to the best around. I did not say your dog was no good or untested not my intention. I am suprised that you would think of breeding your dog to an unproven dog. You are lucky to be in the [bANNED TEXT].K. The collies over there are the best in the world. Why not breed to a dog that has proven himself on the farm or an a trail feild with tough sheep. I hunt coyotes so have no use for a collie/grey but my son is getting into running rabbits so I was thinking of the cross for him. Att the end of t
  10. Why would you breed to an untried and untested collie. The collie has not proved that it has any desired traits wanted in a running dog only its color, no different than hancock I'm afraid. I have raised fairly decent collies, 2004 nursery champ(Bergen quin) in the us and several top dogs and cattle dogs and I would not put them over a unraced or unproven greyhound.
  11. was wondering if anybody knows G.A.Redpath from midlothian, scotland. Any info would be nice.
  12. I believe it to be a term used to describe a dog of unknown breeding or tight breeding that posesed unwanted traits. The pit fighters used to say that if they beet another dog they proved it was a cur
  13. my friend had a few purebreds wanted to use them to protect from bear at oil rigs and remote areas. They looked tough but were useless when there weren't lots of backup. He found that the show bred ones fight to much they are not a fighting breed(kennel club wankers) but a pack breed like a dogo. Alone he said they were pretty much all bark no bite. he went to the akbash/ maremma cross instead.
  14. I have to say that I enjoyed the thread and that were I live you do not let your animals roam. I do not know of anywere that the says it is alright for pets to be running wild. imagine if I raised pigs for a living and let them loose to run around every ones garden then complained when people were annoyed with them.
  15. alright for you guys that are a little slow and missed the point I am trying to spark a use full thread on the gear each uses for digging. Digging is not banned were I live and I was just tring to get some positive topics that are good to read. And honestly wich of you guys would take a stranger out. every body likes different things. You guys can sit and cry about who shows dogs and who does not or if someone is a poser or not but I do not see much productive stuff on here any more this site is for hunters too discuss hunting methods, gear and working dogs.
  16. don't be an smart ass you stupid feck. I am just trying to generate some none negative posting that could help people with there hunting. A while back there were good informative threads now there is just shite about every body elses dogs. Don't be a dink just post a picture of your shovel and tell why it is different and what you like about it. then we will move on to things like filling holes proper and then marking holes and entering dogs. stuff that is usefull.
  17. I read eamons post and agree. I am thinking of working a paterdale I am getting in march she is two years and has gone to ground. What kind of gear would I need and who has made there own ie; shovels picks stakes and tie outs. lets see some picks.
  18. I feed animals the way ditch described all winter when everything is frozen. Cuts my feed costs about 95% I still feed dog food but they do not eat it much. And for the dog that died eating meat sounds like a cull to me any dog that can not eat what god intended for it should die. Who says dog food is better the companys that make it or the vets that get a kick back for selling it. I do feed dogs meat in the summer as much because i do not like the smell of the digested meat or of rotting bones( dogs hide these in the bushes or bury them and retieve later)
  19. hello, I have one the deerhound is ways back, It is half grey/ half canadian stag hound( why give the yanks credit) the stag hounds that I have are very similar to deer hounds, any ways the dog is smart, fast and agile. Probable not a consistant hare dog but will kill fox like they are kittens. He will be a coyote hound one day after he matchers a little more. He is very physical and does not injure easy. he is almost a year. and the only one of that model that I have. I have straight stags and they are not so fast but gritty.
  20. Thank you for your replies. I think I am going to try just putting it back in a couple of times If it stays good If not I will go to the vets. Either way I think I will give her to e friend that will hunt cougar with her and not breed her. I am limited in dogs and cannot keep any with any problems.
  21. yuo can have mine it is a piece of shit I had it gave to me. I think it is a 1998 model
  22. never heaard of it either. thanks for the info. Hsa any one else ever seen this in working bred dogs?
  23. I have only ever had working dogs border collies and hounds the od terrier. I bought two puppies from a fellow I have bought dogs from before, any way they are ten weeks old. They looked a picture of health last Friday but yesterday one of them got a red bump in the corner of his eye. A freind looked at it and said right away cherry eye. She is very nolegible haveing worked in vet offices. She said it is common in kennel club breeds. It is supposed to be congenital? Any way how can I test if the other pup has it? I have to four year old dogs same way bred with no problems and I had a litter of
