  1. thats the very trouble, there are far too many people with little or no knoledge of dogs\breeding that are trying to imitate M/B's breeding plan with little thought for the conciquences for the breed or the stock they are churning out selling the pups on the mythicle name "SOOTY SAM" recently ive seen inbred SS lines (NOT DIRECTLY FROM M/B ) of 23,24,even 25" at the shoulder, surely if a dog of that size is needed then a whippet/grey cross would be more suitable rather than breeding excessivly large whippets. Totally agree with both posts here. I am hearing some scary diseases st
  2. I had a breeding from nimrodell, worked them all, turned out crap for work, no drive! Most old coursing lines that have not been bred right, don't work well, im talking of work here, not, chasing the odd bunny or bird, with a jacket on them! If i was looking for a whippet pup, for WORK, foxes, rabbits, hares ect i would be straight over to MB and would not, be put off with all the silly fecking negative comments on here! Mike, if you by chance, reading this thread, all i will say is, keep up the good work man, if it was not for you, the working whippet would be extinct! So, to all th
  3. That is great going, a very well done to you all. Sounds like the track greyhound did well, for what it was, a good one is hard to beet id say, but easily injured. Which one is the track dog?
  4. Just tip folks, if you poor hot water onto the complete dog food to let it soak, you will take out most of the goodness from it. Only luke warm or just luke, not boiling! I feed red Mills Racer mainly, along with rabbits and butchers off cuts. Was feeding Gain, but gone back to red mills, as they have improved their formula and my dogs look well on it. I think Gain has gone down hill of late!
  5. Once a pup has had its full vaccinations, it does not, need any boosters for the rest of its life, sounds like the vet has conned you, as do thousands of other vets do, all a money making scheme... Read link below.. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/26940-booster-innoculation-jabs/
  6. Skin getting stuck in the intestine.......Nonsense! Does a fox skin a rabbit before it eats it????? The whole thng is perfect for them once defrosted Just going by personall experience sir.. It can, kill them, but go ahead and keep feeding skins to your dog... About foxes, i have watched, a few foxes eat rabbit and they take most of the skin off, preferring the meat, they do eat some skin, but most of it is taken off.. Some dogs are fine with the skin and don't seem to come to any harm, but, a lot are not and i don't really want to play russian rulet with my dogs! Dont
  7. I remember this blue pup, it was for sale for £500 to £600...
  8. Personally, i would skin them, after freezing them for 3 weeks. The skin can get stuck in the dogs gut and cause obstruction! I have heard of a few dogs coming to grief with rabbit skin getting stuck in the dog!! I freeze for 3 weeks, skin, then give whole, guts and all.. But, not all dogs eat the guts.
  9. Totally agree Neil. I hunt alone, most of the time, sometimes, i go with a very decent lad, every now and then. If i get a hare, im happy, as personally, i think their is a lot of eating in a fully grown hare. I have enough for my self and my 2 dogs. I also think, what Mossy said about lads netting them for money, is bringing the numbers down, its sad to hear this... As for the buzzard, spot on, they are taking a lot of leverets, witnessed by a few i know and they should not, be introduced at all! I hunted the hare in the 's and it was great to see them in high numbers, plenty for t
  10. Correct Tomo. But, in one of the pics, their was a fallow buck, in velvet, which only, happens in July/August.
  11. Id say that is all they could arrest them for. That was a good clip, but not that real life, as said, the man with the dog, chasing them, are the ones that know about them, not the book worms or internet hunters. Its great to see them like that in those numbers, like it use to be, before the greed of silage making took over the farming comunity!!
  12. That was a great read, she sounds a great ferreting companion..
  13. I had one of these lamps as well, years ago, back in the 90's, i had the 800'000 one and took a lot of game with it, small and large.. A tough lamp, that lasts and was reliable.
  14. Just had a fresh shower of snow here. Been snowing on and off the last 24hrs and its thick. Its fine when it first snows, dogs don't get cut up feet, but when it freezes, that's when the trouble begings.. ! Ill be lamping/mooching till late spring, that's for sure.!
  15. If your dog is not use to eating deer meat, introduce it slowly. Its some of the best meat you could feed them. As for rabbit bones after freezing, no problem, as long as they are defrosted first and are raw, i would not feed weight baring bones though of deer, or any other animal, as one of my dogs cracked their back molar teeth chewing them, ribs ect are grand.
  16. Thats a great ferreting trip out, well done to Parker, thanks for sharing.. Good luck with pup.
  17. http://www.mikeswhippets.com/ Give Mike a ring in the above link, he is meant to be a sound man and has some top working whippets.

  19. Well said. Not to mention the ground below it is like concrete!! Not worth the risk, for a few poxy rabbits ect, next week when it goes soft and mild and windy, if your dog gets injured, you will be kicking yourself and wont be able to go out when your meant to go out!
  20. Great food for pups.. Along with goats milk, mince rabbit and beef.
  21. Does this mean all running dogs as well? For rabbits?
