  1. I can not believe the state of these poor dogs for sale on the add below! Its obvious that the person is a dog dealer, with all the lurchers he has for sale. If it is anyone on this site, then you should be ashamed of your self, for dealing in such misery! http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/dogs/1665247
  2. Thanks. She is doing a cracking job. Good luck for the season ahead..
  3. She seems to be doing very well, keep up the good work..
  4. Great result that for a young dog, well done to you both. How is she bred, is she full whippet, or cross? Good luck with her, sounds like you will have some fun..
  5. Nice tidy result their lads. Was their much missed?
  6. Its a sad to see alright!! That site, is full of dog dealers, with dogs that look just as sad and unfed as the one that is for sale, its a disgrace to Ireland.!
  7. Spot on. I use Liquid life aid after a nights lamping ect, it stops the muscles getting eaten away by build up of lactic acid... 7 euro where i am, from my local farm co-op.
  8. John, she did very well indeed.... It wont be long for sure before she connects... maybe tonight? I would not worry about her not diving into the hedge after it, she will soon cop on... martin.
  9. That is what you call a first class ferreting bitch, excellent clip..
  10. If you are lamping her that much, then i would give her a week off, just light excersise every day, then go back and lamp her just 2 to 3 times a week max. If you are lamping a lot of rabbits, like anything from 15 to 30 a night, and need another dog, then prehaps investing in another good pup, might take the pressure off your bitch in the future..
  11. Some great pics and expeirences, cheers.
  12. Fireman, great pics, thanks for putting them on. Sorry to hear that you lost her, at such a young age!
  13. Great info and , thanks every one. Back in the 's, i seen on tv, Phil Lloyd, working a 1st cross acd Speckle, ferreting and i liked her, she was fairly fast i thought. It was a documentry, on pest control i seen, but can not remember what it was called? I have never thought about it after that, untill browsing You-tube and came across acd.
  14. Nice pics of your dogs WR. Thanks for posting them. How do you find them as workers? Is their a true working strain in the uk, of Australian cattle dogs? Or, does it look like the only workers are in Oz?
  15. Cheers. Its good to know their is still some working how they are ment to over their in Austrailia. I have been doing some research since and as Bird says above, the working ones are very rare or none, in the uk and Ireland! Shame, i think it would be a good cross.!
  16. Thanks for that. is their still strong proper working ACD in Australia? Like on big cattle and sheep stations ect, that you know of?
  17. Ill have him John............. :D ... martin.
  18. I just found these below, amazing dogs, tough too by the looks of it, would make a good lurcher, prehaps, if crossed with a greyhound, just a thought. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWe9jJN7X1U&feature=related
  19. for me I would say 3/4 grey/1/4 collie bitch who is doing her job well, then you put a good saluki/ grey, dog on top, and you should have pups that could make all rounders single handed dogs for Edible game, some thing that has the speed to get up to there quarry, and can change gears, when there up there and finish the job as quick as possible, but still have all the stamina that is required for more running, and quick recovery, breeding is and always will be, PUT THE BEST TO THE BEST, AND YOU HOPE FOR THE BEST, but sadly there is No guarantees on that, Thanks for that.
  20. Some interesting replys and thanks for that. As for saluki, how much is just right, in a collie greyhound mix? Would it be ok to cross a first cross collie greyhound say, to a well bred saluki lurcher? Thanks.
  21. Hi, This question, is aimed at people, who have bred a litter of first cross collie greyhounds, out of well selected parents. How, in your experience, does the whole litter turn out? You only usually hear of one or 2 making the grade ect, but not how the rest turn out? Thanks.
  22. That was a great read, she did well for a bright night and her being so young, good work.
  23. Personally, i would get a pup, unless you can see the dog that is for sale run a few nights and i mean a few nights, not just the one, as some problems in dogs, dont all ways show them self straight away. A pup, off a well known strain that has been worked for generations, is the best option in my opinion, good luck.
