    R.I.P Tadh. sorry to hear about the dog, sounded promissing. To fenman, that could of happened in the season too. a fox under pressure, will head anywhere, to put a dog off, be it summer, or winter. just from my personal experience of hunting in the winter months.

Anyhow, mate has 1 albino hob kit left, he will be at ballinlough next sunday, if your interested, good stock, i bred the mother to them, she worked away on her first outing no bother.     i was using liquid life aid, but got told, its not meant for dogs and was bad for them. got a bottle of recharge, but fecking expensive over here! cold bowl of water, a touch of milk and glucose, does the job i reckon, the odd egg beaten in, goes down nicely at times..

    Agree with most of what you say , but, how would you explain, some coursing pups that come up for sale from time to time on here, that cost several hundred ££'s, sometimes more? Don't tell me their doing it for the interest of the dogs?? Some of these lads, are well known in the game and do have some top dogs, but i personally think, money, seems to be their, motivator?

    In my experience and rarely, some ferrets just turn strange and do, start to bite! Even after a few years of having them, no explanation what so ever.

    Breeding a litter is all about personal preference/standards and reasons. MY personal opinion is that there are far too many litters for sale, most of these are from sub-standard parents in my opinion and the reason so many dogs are passed around with no respect is because most are pot lickers. This isn't a dig at you personally, not at all and personally i would never breed a litter of lurchers because a bitch had good conformation and trainability. Im planning on having a litter from my dogs, the bitch is 5 this year and has proved herself working over many seasons and my dog is around 10

    although, the average whippet, weighs more than a fox, the fighting, or more correctly, defense tactics, of a fox, out smart, a whippet on its own, every time, after all, the fox, is fighting for its life and can deal out some punishment, if not dealt with by a stronger dog. whippets that do take foxes single handed, are rare, just my experience, on the matter.

    you have asked a question, in the lurcher section about when to mate your lurcher bitch. ask your self this, if you want to breed a good worker, what would you look for? personally, i would look for these below, after 4 to 6 hard crafted seasons: 1. good strike 2. high catch rate. 3. high prey drive that gets used well. 4. brains. 5. no nasty habits, like barking/yapping after all game. 6. no bad behavior problems, like being timid, barking constant, aggressiveness ect. 7. take most game without much fuss. 8. consistent 9. controlled speed their is more i am sure, but if you

    Yeah its grown a lot, I have lost a bunch of good coursing fields to that growth. Albuquerque still has its issues they dug up a bunch of murdered prostitutes in one my hunting fields a few years back which was kind of creepy. Blue one New Mexico is not a bad place to live particularly if you like to hunt the state is pretty good for running dogs on hare and coyote and there is some fair pig hunting along the Texas border plus all kinds of stuff you can point a gun at if thats your thing including people. lol i like it here and it is nice to have legal coursing and 100's of square miles
