if my dog caught a ''rabbit'' this time of year it wouldn't mean anything to me, it would be pointless. i want to do it in january and february when you give them 100 yds start.thats sport, and dinner.had an accident a little while ago in this heat with a ''rabbit'' and it fukced her up for afew days i had to take her to the vets in the end.but normal rabbits are fair game 365 days a year.
go back to the basics, start retrieve training in a alley way so if she wants to get away from you she has to go past you and you can intercept it from her.give plenty of praise and soon she will want to bring everything back to you.good luck.my saluki x retrieves perfect and she's 6 months.
to be honest roe deer are easy pickings for a good deer dog! course may go on for a little while but if the dogs been slipped -90 % dead!!
if this was true there would be a lot less roe about, its not even true if you lamp them never mind day time.
i've been out lamping with no insurance and less than a 10er in the bank before.might have to think about insurance in the future or might get a credit card and only use it only for the dogs injuries.
went out couple of runs, had a couple of rabbits.conditions were fine with no injuries at the end of the night.you lot leave them in there kennels until its black, windy with drizzel which is about 15 nights a season.ruined my nike air max though .
been raining here, carefull you dont get your trainers muddy, take a mate and double up on the thumpers you,ll get a bigger tally for pics on facebook,
thanks for the advice.are you talking from experience
just be careful running a pup at this time of year, your run might start of on short grass but a rabbit will head for any long grass and whos to say whats lying in the rough convered by the long grass and thats just not pups thats goes for older experienced dogs aswell and you could end up with a pup out for the rest of the season
thanks, she's a deerhound cross and 15 months old, she's had abit of lamping the end of last season and done well.going out tonight for hopefully a few easy rabbits for a bit more experience.better than leaving the dogs in the kennels and playing on the computer
you dicks, nothing wrong with going out for abit of bunny bashing with a young dog.i can pick and choose the runs unlike when you lot go for a mooch and you don't know what will jump up in front of you.
a mate of mine has a white dog, good dog too but was out one night when there was abit of moon,he slipped the dog it missed the rabbit so he killed the lamp.the dog walked back across the middle of the field and you could see it as clear as day.i don't think white dogs are any worse at work than any other colour.i know you can see a lamp when its on but if you go out for a few hours the lamp will only be on for a few minutes.
