anyone got any remedies for bringing bruising out?
matt_hooks replied to JPTfellterrier's topic in General Talk
Normally alternating hot and cold works, but that's when the bruise is new. If it still hurts after weeks, then I'd go see the doc, you might have done some hidden damage! -
Please don't get me wrong. There's a BIG difference between freedom of speech, and throwing eggs at soldiers. Anyone who assaults a member of our armed forces without good reason (I'm not talking about someone giving a squaddie a slap in a bar brawl, but anything that's done cold blooded and sober) should be made to spend five minutes in the company of said member, in a locked room. I wouldn't expect the soldier to touch him, but I'm sure he'd come out shaking like a leaf! Use the law to it's full extent to prosecute anyone who uses hatred to achieve their aims. If someone is assaulted, th

Have to say it's sad to see the feeling about people of different ethnic background. As Si says, that is the HUGE minority. Yes, it's wrong for them to come out and preach hatred and anti British sentiment, but to tar every muslim with that brush, or every Indian, or Asian, is just as wrong. Also, I reckon that most of the people who are "anti-war" (which I take as meaning against our brave lads and lasses) are "British" (i.e. white British) rather than Asian or any other racial extraction. The armed forces fight to protect the liberty of our nation, and part of that liberty is to say

The HMR is a very low recoiling round, so something that can cope with the recoil from a springer should have no trouble with the HMR. I use a Hawke scope on my .22LR, and have no problems with zero or anything like that. They are what they are, don't expect Zeiss or Swaro quality optics, but for the money they are pretty good!

PILLAR BEDDING THE WEATHERBY VANGUARD
matt_hooks replied to philip140's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Very nice job there. I'm getting up the courage to float the barrel on my old Parker Hale .243, it touches most of the way down the barrel at the moment, and it changes the POI with temperature and humidity. I guess I could bed it with the barrel floating, using the tape method, but I've never bedded a rifle before, knowing my luck I'd probably manage to stick the action in the stock! -
Watchman, I've never seen an electron, but I'm pretty sure they exist. Just because you've not seen them, doesn't mean they don't exist. I'll see if I can find anyone in my contacts up your way JPT, they might be able to come in and find out what's going on (that's if you want to, if you're happy enough for him to be there then that's fine)

I'm not surprised, bearing in mind the bloke is still alive!
-
No, the reason he was replaced, I have it on good authority from a source close to the production team, was his wandering hands and complete mysogeny! Apparently he used to enjoy fondling Kate "Not So" Humble at any opportunity. A bloke who spouts a load of old s##t about stuff he knows nothing about, and is driven by intolerance and fear. Now then, I reckon he'd fit right in here!

Ah can see it properly now. Yeah, it's a b####y big Munty, but definitely munty. It has the long tail with white underneath, and the colour says munty too.
-
Pretty sure that Munty and Roe can't crossbreed. The pic is too small to make out, can you put a bigger one up? Munty have a single spike antler, so if it's got more than one point it's probably Roe, but would need to see a bigger photo to be sure!

Scot, Christian, there's nothing like an open mind hey! And that's NOTHING like an open mind!
-
Hey, as long as he's not actually DOING anything, is he really a problem? Might be an idea to get someone in to see if they can help him though, I wouldn't want to be stuck in limbo (though he obviously enjoys watching you in the shower! ) Where abouts in the country are you?

Bargain! If it's in the north of the county and you need some help, give me a shout!

Shooting pigeons, rooks, magpies, etc.
matt_hooks replied to Teer's topic in General Airgun Discussion
There have been a few cases recently of people being prosecuted for shooting birds that are on the pest species list. Mainly it's someone who pots a noisy crow or a couple of pigeons in their back garden, and the neighbour takes offence. It's usually pretty easy to make the argument for controlling them, in terms of public health and, in the case of the corvids, protection of native song birds. As for the "authorised person" it doesn't have to be the land owner, that's a big red herring. The act refers to "the landowner, or someone acting as the landowners agent." Now that second bit is pr -
Moley, I didn't say it wouldn't hurt like buggery, but a 12 ft.lb air rifle is NOT going to stop a burglar, who's going to be at the minimum hyped up on an overdose of adrenaline, plus whatever their choice of class A's. People have been shot repeatedly with a 9mm/.375mag/44 mag/45 mag and still gone on to kill the shooter, before dropping down dead themselves. Very few people, when clobbered round the bonce with a large lump of wood will remain conscious for very long!

BASC firearms licencing fees and licence application forms The fees are at the bottom of the page. £50 for a new licence or £40 for a renewal. The bloke from Wales is talking c##p, it's the same cost for England, Scotland and Wales.

For the FAC, they're looking for people who actually know you, your best mate down the pub is actually a better referee than your doctor, unless they're the same bloke of course! For SGC, it has to be "a person of professional standing, such as a doctor, solicitor, teacher or person of similar standing." The only people who can't sign are serving police officers (retired officers are fine though), immediate family, and RFD's unless they are signing as an officer of a shooting club. Of course it's not a good idea to get your mate, who has umpteen convictions for dishonesty type offe

Haha brilliant. We have a little Bantam hen that likes to come in the house, and sit on my shoulder. She's literally a pocket hen, she'll happily sit in my jacket pocket, and I've been known to forget she's there and go out. It takes a while to realise why everyone's staring at me, as a little black head pops out of my pocket, takes in the surroundings and then tucks itself back in the warm. Unfortunately the dog thinks she's a play toy, and he is a bit big to play with her, so she has to stay outside most of the time.

Air rifle humane kill range
matt_hooks replied to North Wales Hunter's topic in Rifle Reviews, Technical Help and Tips
Sorry Simon and Si, I wasn't suggesting you didn't know what you were on about, far from it! I was just clarifying the point for the newbie. I read it at first as "never rest your rifle" so I guessed it could be confusing. -
And I answered it. Ric, I still didn't need a calculator to work out those fractions.

You can't use Paypal for sale of firearms. I'm fairly sure if you filed a claim, they would classify air guns as firearms. Paypal terms of use

So you've been illegally in possession of firearms for two months? I would have been hasselling them for a temp cert!

Shotgun Cartridge posession offence?
matt_hooks replied to matt_hooks's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Yes, but as possession of shotgun cartridges is not an offence, you can't be committing an offence by having them, firearm or otherwise. They'd have trouble arguing them as an offensive weapon, unless they are snugly housed in a shotgun, and they're not classed as an explosive, so they might TRY to make it into an offence, but they'll fail. The only time they could make it stick is if the person possessing them is a prohibited person due to having been convicted and sentenced to a spell in prison, then possession is an offence, unless the sentence was less than three years, and more than f -
you said somethink like, not that is the percentage but thanks any way Firstly, fraction/proportion, NOT percentage. Secondly, I thought 16ths was fairly accurate (actually the maths was totally accurate)

I answered your question in my first post.
