Why do we want to know who it is? I'd say keep copies of all the emails, PM's etc. Get the mods to have a look at them with a view to banning him. Tell him that you have his threatening emails and PM's, and are preparing to pass them to the police unless he backs off. It sounds like he's trying to pull a fast one, so stand your ground and don't refund anything. Tell him you are happy to meet him, at a time and place that suits you both, to discuss and sort it, but that if he continues to threaten you will pass the dossier to the police to deal with. Seriously, you don't need t

Agreed you need a "slug". Any good army surplus store should stock them. Built in waterproof "groundsheet" and feather filled, snuggliest sleeping bags out there, and not usually too expensive either. I left mine in a cupboard on an RAF base when I was training there, proper pi##ed me off that did!

I'm sure that's JUST what he needs! Seriously, who mentioned minorities? Anyway, what're the chances of a minority type(by this you mean Muslim, your type always do comes from reading the Sun and the Star) being buried in a CHRISTIAN graveyard? Petition signed by the way.

I like to pump before the bottle. Nothing worse than brewers droop! Ohhhhh, that's not the kind of pumping you meant right?

Of course, there's no reason why you HAVE to inform them, it's mainly to prevent them wasting their time (and it's never pleasant getting a close up view of the hole in the end of an MP5!) If you're in a building, how will anyone know you are there? I'm not saying don't do it, I find it's always helpful to keep on the good side of the police whenever possible, and this is a no lose situation, but for the sake of completeness I wouldn't want anyone to think it was a legal requirement, as there might be times when contacting them is NOT a good idea (I can't think of any right now but th

I wouldn't bother Simon, it'll just distract you from the important bit of the post!

The switches are like that to allow them to be easy to find when it's dark. It's the cheap way of making a "pressure pad" wiring two or three switches together in parallel. If it were just one switch you could easily miss it when you reach for it in the dark. As for where to mount it, that all depends what you want it for. If you're thinking of using it as an alternative aiming device then you'll want to mount it above the barrel, probably on top of the scope is the easiest place so it doesn't obscure the scope picture. You'll need to decide what distance you want to use it at, depending -
Ooh, now there's a thought! I can imagine the phone call now. "Hello, is that the police firearms licencing department? Hi, yes, I'd like to check a piece of land to see if it's cleared" "Yes sir, and what's the address?" "Snowdonia" "And where abouts in Snowdonia?" "No, the whole of Snowdonia!" big clunk as firearms licencing bod falls off chair. I might send them my CV actually!
-
I think you missed my point Matt, or more likely I was not clear (and I did not even mention cleared land). A 1 day course is, I think, a good idea for people applying for their first licence, a one-off. It would be an effective "hands on" extended interview attended by the FEO and makes sure that a new shooter has got the basics covered. A bit like the CBT (compulsary basic training) that motorcyclists have to do before being let loose on the roads. At the moment you fill in the right form, smile at the right people bolt a steel box to the wall and now have a gun (or several). Possibl

Nice shot! I've got to deal with one round here, but don't fancy re-zeroing the .243 for lighter rounds (it gets expensive at £1.20 a bang) so she'll be getting 105grains of persuasion. What calibre is that?
-
That says it all really. I have never questioned Si or Simon's knowledge or skills, and would love to sit down with them one day and have a chat, I get the feeling that it would be a learning experience (for me certainly, maybe for both sides) I come from the theoretical background, a degree in engineering and lots of that work was to do with aerodynamics, external ballistics and ballistic trajectories. That doesn't make me an expert, far from it, but I do know a little about the subject. The real experts are the blokes who go out and rely on the skills and knowledge to keep their hea

Not true Charlie. I have the "any other legal quarry" condition, so if I had a .22cf (which I don't) with that condition it would be perfectly legal to shoot them with it. I'd happily take them with my .243, even though it is "conditioned" for deer.
-
Dadio I agree that a good basic grounding in guns, gun handling and safety is desirable, but to make any course compulsory is not the way forward. The police and firearms licencing function have enough control over us as it is. If I am trustworthy to hold a high powered firearm, then why is that only the case for ground that they have looked at and deemed safe? Ok, come to my main permission at first issue, and check that I am knowledgable and capable of deciding what is a good shot and what isn't, but what is gained safety wise by then putting a condition that I have to get any new piece

Is that Prince Edward doing the voiceover? -
There's no such thing as a "best rifle" in any calibre. Everyone has their own preferences, and everyone has their own budget. All I will say is that pretty much ANY rifle can be made to shoot more accurately than you are capable of, with the right attention. The most important thing is to spend the money where it counts. IMHO this is on the scope. If you go for a decent second hand rifle, pretty much any of the modern rifles will do, but Sako and Tikka are popular, and then spend AT LEAST as much on the scope! Money spent on a good scope and good mounts will repay you time and again. That

Actually, I'm pretty sure there is no LEGALLY DEFINED minimum calibre, bullet weight or ME for them. There are recommendations, but nothing enshrined in law. I'd say that you'd be legal shooting one with a .22 CF, and a .243 will definitely deck one quite happily.

He can say what he wants,he can do what he wants.......but maybe saying and doing stuff like that on an English street is a little bit much wouldnt you agree.....i wouldnt get away with going into a foreign country and totally disrespecting them in the most horrible way......the bit that bothers me most about this is the fact the prick had the confidence to know there would be no repurcussions, even allowing his full name to be known......i would get stoned to death in the streets or beheaded for doing the equivalent in his country. " should he not be able to say that "....NO he shouldnt he

You know what? By reacting to his behaviour, you are playing in to this guys hands. A quick pat on the head, a "well done, you've made your point, now crawl back under the rock you came from" would have dealt with this, rather than the manipulative media getting all outraged and shouty about it. It's a shame that more of the population can't stop for a minute, and think, and NOT be manipulated by the right wing media! As for the EDL using a Templar inscription, that's as much of an abuse of a sign as burning the poppy! The Templars (as they are today, a part of Freemasonry) welcome any mal

Graham, the "SWP3000" refers to the safe pressure capacity of the air cylinder (Standard/Safe Working Pressure 3000psi). A Stihl chainsaw AND a Daystate, sounds well worth a few days work that! The saw, in good nick, has gotta be around the £300 mark, the gun could be around the same. AND you got free firewood! I'm not surprised the guy refused to pay you! Seriously though, sounds like you did a good deal.

Strong, we're asking a little much there aren't we? This is an "all muslims are smelly niggers (let's not even go there with THAT particular irony) and Paki's (oops, there's another one) and they should all just f##k off back to where they came from (mothers womb maybe? Peckham?)" sort of thread. No critical though is required, nor will it be accepted. It will be stomped down as "nigger loving tree hugging bull shit!" Come on, do the right thing, believe what everyone else seems to! Yes, what he did was scummy, and it's sad that he only got a £50 fine. His way of expressing it is

dsc 1 booked sgc/fac applied for!!!!
matt_hooks replied to stav#69's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Good news! Remember though, that the FEO can only make recommendations, it's all down to the licencing manager to decide whether you actually get what is recommended! And yes, you'll get the FAC through the post, but did he give you a timescale? It took Thames Valley nearly three months to get mine out to me after the FEO visit! -
Now that depends. Do you have permission to fire the weapon over the highway? (The answer is no, the Highways Agency doesn't give permission to shoot on its land) The "fifty foot" condition is really meant to apply to the noise of the weapon causing, for example, horses to rear and become unpredictable. Common sense dictates you shouldn't be firing the weapon towards a major road, unless you have a significant backstop. As for the "no prone shooting" thing, they can only recommend something like that for the specific piece of land. The FEO that visited me said that shooting from h

I've got a lightning that I put a gas ram in, must have been about 2004, maybe 2005? That still shoots full power and is a beaut to shoot. Like I say, you were just unlucky. I bet the Delrin guide, top hat etc. cost as much to make and fit as a gas ram! And most people don't have the kit lying around to machine the necessary parts.
