try another ferret down mate find if he is layed up the other ferret disturbs him and makes him move or mightb move the bunny and free him up sounds like his in there place a small piece of feed at the hole and block back up if ot goes he still there then ya know
-
you aint got mite have ya mate just check nests where chicks were or could be cock forcing hen to go back to nest, and she ends up leaving them, use just the one nest pan check thoroughly for mite. When hen lays again keep a good eye on them if cock starts chasing or treading her whilst on chicks remove him mate
-
goldies looking well gnasher got first eight goldie chicks in the nest mate 2 pairs due to hatch Monday and other pair just started nest building so fingers crossed should have a few greys this year for ya mate
-
you could possible get around 20 canaries with out any hassle mate
-
basil my friend you want the rubbish collected first mate then a few conifers and a few fuscia should tidy the place up and look quite good
-
The prob with breeding canaries in an aviary is you can,t control which cock mates with what hen, many a cock will tred another cocks hen and then comes the problem when pairing the following season when you have so many young and a great majority will be related which then caused deformality, low immune system, disease and many other probs and if ya got 2 round out gnasher its better getting 2 rounds of what ya want and knowing the parents for the following season. Having an aviary on interbred birds causing problems in the following season,i have canaries in the aviary but only three hens
-
nice to see gnipper well done and good luck for the season
-
canaries breed far better in cages no matter what, thats a known fact gnasher, finches outside but bred many finch in a box,id replace canaries internal and let ya finches get on with what they know best, outside with no disturbance as many canary have destroyed many a good finch nest unless separated
-
ray id pair the canaries back up in the boxes mate that way you can control your breedinfg mate
-

Seen one at a friend of a friends last year it was about 4ft tall 6 ft long and about 4 ft wide was ideal for a pair of goodies or a tro of canaries

you should be fine gnasher,i had a mates birds in the breeding hull 4 years ago and they must have had them, struggled for 2 years to rid them but seem to be winning now,and fingers crossed no more
-
nice fireman that's how to do it, birds look fantastic mate, well at home and well looked after, your a credit to the hobby
-
believe me my sheds are spotless as you can see from the pics but ive had them for the last three seasons and a nightmate to shift but with the spot on last 2 seasons numbers are dropping as for the lads hull I went to it was spotless and he was overrun with them and a brand new block shed but did have a felt roof
-
the prob is they take some getting rid of once you have them like I said fireman I seen three on a bird whilst ringing all you can do is treat spray and try keep them under control haven't see any since but birds are treated as for the lad I went to treated his birds and cleaned them all out up to him now
-
well went to a hull today, freshly built in block sat in the lads hull noticed birds picking at feathers checked the nests for him a lot had young but believe me never seen as many mite in all my life, felt gutted for him spent all that money and still has mite, been very lucky this year seen three but that was it at moment any of you lads had mite
-
great Spartan hope you ring many more mate
-
nice mule very nice

Same here fireman none of this years young will leave till atleast sep or even oct after they moult and like I said never sold a bird in an auction in my life. Never would, have a lad in Ireland takes 5 pairs every year, and by the time I sort the good from the bad, theres plenty of lads they can be gifted to. Pete ive had bad years aswell 4 years ago had the birds in good condition then wife wanted a 3 week holiday first week in april,a mate come and looked after them 50 pairs I had then, and when I got back birds were in that bad a nick only bred 3 chicks all season of 50 pairs
-
ive had some 6 year old pete but I find after 3 they don't fill as many eggs also don't rear as good also had many a young mother not rear young, leave eggs ,leave chicks they are the ones you don't need,as you spend time and effort, and I have about 3 pairs layed hollow eggs alredy and 4 pairs left the young so they will be swopped about next round to see if its the cocks or the hens but as you all know in this game not all will rear not all will fill eggs.Ive also had hens rear one year and the next year leave the young at days old
-
a lot of mine will be gifted as not in it for the money also any bird that are past the sell by date will replaced with this years young but if the numbers keep rising ill be letting them have 2 rounds only then they will be split and early moulted also any bad rearers will be replaced
