  1. I wouldn't do it on busy roads but where I live I've got a circuit I do that's a mix of relatively quiet village roads and much quieter country roads. Plus I like to be all done and dusted by 7.30am at the latest, so I get most of it done when there's not much traffic about. Just a tad curious as to what time you get up? And why anyone who's not a competetive courser, and even them, needs to 'bike' their dogs anyway! No animosity, just curious like early as f**k by the sounds of it lol Yep lol

  3. Yeah, still a beddy x I know. But not strictly beddy x whippet. Some nice types here though, really like that one of rake's
  4. Don't really want to nitpick, but it's not really a beddy x whippet, although still a nice dog
  5. What you've just said there fella makes complete and utter sense
  6. Not had a pure whippet for a fair few years now, and considering the fact that I aint getting any younger, when it's really cold and wet, even with lurchers, I'll be doing something more sensible
  7. Class dog and man. Never get fed up of these posts
  8. That black and white dog pup, have his feet improved or bothered him in any way? Nice looking dog
  9. what species of cat was it rascaland what was your mate doing out with it ? lampin Big cats roaming around this little Island of ours?! HEHEHE It was a long way off. Was real dark in colour. Not as big as a panther type cat but much MUCH larger than a moggy. Watched it jump a 5 bar gate from about 3 foot away and clean over the top and over the other side. Not disbelieving you, seen a few things that have had myself scratching my head over the years

  11. !! How dare you use such blasphemy sir?! Lol Beddy x's don't yap
  12. seen thousands of rabbits that weren't expecting it! Thousands?,i thought apart from me and Tomo nobody had seen that amount of scutts?. Think again
  13. As morton said, plenty of curs watch /wait/follow what's happening
  14. seen thousands of rabbits that weren't expecting it!
  15. So these saplings you bought that were shite were they actually from Hancock or some one else who had bought them as young pups? Here's the thing to me, if someone hasn't got much of a clue with dogs, it could be from the best blood and the best breeder in the world, they'd still not make much of the dog. PLENTY of these type of people about, and yes, I include myself to a certain point when first starting out, but, some people never learn
  16. I've kept lurchers for close to forty years, none of em directly from Hancock, and most of those were shite too!
  17. @ sailor30 and gibbo1973, why do you not still run deer/greys? These and deer/grey x collie/grey are my preferred types
  18. I really don't see the problem with getting a pup from Hancock, at least you're not being fleeced of £7-900 for a jackuhuahua or puglington or some other utterly ludicrous crossbred piece of uselessness, which there are plenty of people up and down the country breeding! Maybe not on the same scale as Hancock, but breeding enough litters to make themselves a very comfortable sum! I've not bought a dog from there myself, but had one years ago that Taffy was the sire to, I took PLENTY of hares and deer with him, he was very fast and powerful, fabulous dog. Two of my mates bought dogs directly o
  19. ffs God no horrible snipey nosed, whinnying fuuckers They look ok and more than a tad useful to me lol
  20. Not telling anyone how to keep their dogs, but would NEVER kennel dogs together, or even leave them in the same room in the house unsupervised.
  21. I agree with alot of what you say, and wouldn't advocate breeding off small, thin, weak or old stock etc, but physically and mentally sound animals, and while I agree that it's certainly easier to guage the parents, grandparents etc through their soundness in the field, I don't feel it's necessary that the dog you might take on 'needs' to come from working parents. Hope that makes sense
  22. Worker to worker means feck all, apart from the fact that both parents were worked. It doesn't follow that all the pups will, or even be suitable for work. Plenty of working/coursing/racing champions etc in both dogs and horses, bred from parents which have never worked, coursed or raced prove it If you just want a few rabbits and you just buy in all your dogs thats fine, but if you want the line to go on then you need to get the best rootstock from the beginning, not a quick fix from the lurcher supermarket (hancocks) Theres a dog on here owned by BIRD I think. Thats a proper collie/grey
