  6. me & stewy have done well in the last couple of weeks close on 160 good fat rabbits we hard a good day yesterday 23 not a great number but considering they came off a small hedge & a bank we was happy , we did another hedge last week the little bitch is priceless marking & catching any that slipped the nets due to tangleing in the briars & roots then we had to clear a bank on a turf field that was better with the longnets & shottie not huge bags but they all add up the owd lads haveing a rest & a brew now
  7. i let my ferrets out in the run all day then lock them in the cages at night ,keeping the jills seperate when they start to come fertile , you will find the ferrets sleep most of the time anyhow ,i leave a cage open dureing the day & they are almost allways curled up together winter & summer ,but they have the option to run about if they choose
  8. put the right illuminater on it rob & its more than adequate for air rifle use ,i spent a lot on mine but its well worth it ,the n1000ap is a good bit of kit
  9. i have allways sunk the trap to ground level then made sure there was clearance for it to spring without hitting the ridge tile then i place a pointed stick in the middle of each entrance to deter birds /hedgehogs etc & something heavy enough on top to stop it being moved its worked like that for me for years ,i just thought with the rats being scarce some nuttella on the place would draw them in quicker ,cheers
  10. in wales as far as i know you have to have your name & a contact number on the buoys ,i dont know if thats countrywide ,also set in an area where no salmon/seatrout run i believe
  11. does anyone ever bait the plates on the above traps , i have been asked to move a few rats at some stables ,now theres only a small number no runs, holes etc just odd ones liveing under the sheds ,i catch lots elswhere setting them under ridge tiles but i think in such a large area they will be difficult to trap ,im thinking of a bit of peanut butter or nuttella spread on the trigger plate to draw them in may work ? any suggestions thanks ,cheers
  12. as its shallow digs ,we put a hob polecat in them maybe another later on ,these lads dont mess about if bunny lugs dont bolt its end of story the digs are not more than a foot deep usually as for the jills they cant take the beatings the rabbits give them , they may bolt several but over the day the little jills get too much hammer , if its deep buries we tend to use single ferrets , if it was me mark i would start from the bottom working the hedge up ,you can have too many ferrets in a warren ,get a hob as well ,like i say the jills can come off after several good kickings off the rabbits ,th
  13. another hard wet day yesterday ,we set 70 nets on 1 warren for 2 rabbits ,then got 10 from the next warren ,too wet for the long nets ended up with 31 makeing it 76 for the week ,all the rabbits was in good condition but very lean as moorland rabbits can be ,cheers

  17. i just engage my 58 yr old brain then point aim figure it out then shoot ( & miss ) seriously most prey dont hang about more than a few secs trust your inbuilt aim points which comes with practice & experience ,no bullshit i can spot aim shoot in a sec or 2 & usually allways hit the target
