me & stuart hit the big big boundary field yesterday it was a glorious start .we loaded up the quad & set off down hedge sides checking out the burries , earlier on in the season this field must have held 100s .but i reckon most had been taken by now ,warren after warren only produced odd singles & pairs mostly to purse & stop nets these produced 16 rabbits ,every area of the boundaries had warrens but like i say they had been had either way a glorious day to be out in good company with good ferrets ,farmers showing us some new land friday so fingers crossed ,,getting late

Owl Predation?
bunny tickler replied to WannaBKeeper's topic in Gamekeeping, Conservation & Shoot Management
when i was keepering tawnys was present but i wouldnt say a problem at all , barn owls was a pleasure to see and watch ,in any case in my opinion there is no need to worry about either bird , any damage is very limited & each needs to survive -
every day is a learning curve ,ok if they get away dont worry you have learned to check & double check for bolt holes , then learn to trust your ferrets , a good worker wont go into a burry if theres nothing at home , but ,try them in different holes before you move on . ,each and every one here has made mistakes ,after 40 yrs i still miss the odd hole we all do , also dont think long nets are the be all and end all to rabbiting a well set stop net will catch just as many ..keep learning it will all come good .the greatest thing is silence ,setting nets entering ferrets ..quietly does

i dont know if this is classed as funny lol ,a farmer i did terrier work for sent me to some land he rented to clear some cubs , as the dog was on i noticed a tractor & muckspreader pull into the field ,as he got closer i tried to get him to stay clear of the area ,when he started the fecker up & showered me in shit ,after i put the graft through the side door the police came into sight with the farmers wife , it turned out he didnt know my man had sent me there & thought i was a badger digger ,i had to walk back to the farm who set me on (coppers woudnt have me in thier car lol )

stuart and myself hit some new perm today a quick 10 from a paddock ,then the dreaded blackthorn hedges we ended up with 21 plus the first kits of the year ,pity its late to get this perm but the jobs got to be done ,now the farmers tested us hes got a area busting with rabbits he says for us to clear ,fingers crossed , if we had hit this perm earlier i reckon big numbers would have been caught ,either way farmers happy & game dealers got another 21
