  1. hi all, after seeing some really stunning action shots of lurchers on this site ive decided to delve into the unknown world of the slr. im looking for a) an idiot proof camera. b)some advice on the best lenses to have c) best makes and models and prices. ive done a bit of sniffing round on ebay but thats all at the moment. price is also paramount this side of xmas plus im a tight git the rest of the year! any advice would be great from you higher beings cheers, matt
  2. well i have 1 of each! my beddy/whippx grey and my wheaten/grey x whipp/grey so both 3/4 crosses more or less. both retrieve fox and are good mooching bushing dogs but for shear prey drive id have to go with the wheaten. it all depend on what you want to do with the offspring really! both are also good lampers with plenty of stamina although chasing a hare for 10mins is a bit beyond them both . i would personaly go for a nice 1st cross wheaton or maybe 3/4 cross for that added bit of speed! but by no means underestimate the humble beddy cross. so to sum up there is no real answer so i'll shut
  3. seeing as rabbits are legal here's a few pix, soz about the quality. more to follow tomorrow of the pups. its not just rabbits that parants are interested in! top 2 pix are the sire.
  4. im in b/ham mate. the pups are near shrewbury! will have pics soon!

  9. hi mate, just wondering where you are from as im liking that that b&t dog. take it the parants do what thay were intended to do? (game bird preservation). just gonna be really nice to the mrs and see what comes of it lol cheers, matt
  10. here's mine! the black dog is beddy/whipp x grey and the sandy is wheten/grey x whippet/grey! both 23" to the shoulder!
  11. why put a small dog thats not upto the job 100% through the hassle and pain? i love beddy whippets but fox dogs they aint! rabbits and rats they are lethal on and yes they do have alot of fire! it just makers sense to get a dog with a bit more weight behind it and with a bit more height that will still pick up the bunnies! a 1stx beddy/grey would be just the job i think!
  12. ello fella, see yoe have sorted out how to do the pics then! i recognise those dogs! hahahahaha
  13. they good calls, ive got 1 and when me hand fails i get the call out!
  14. you can have my signed copy of running dog addiction for £500 if u want. hahahahahahahahaha. i'll ask matt.p. if he knows anyone aswell lol. or i'll just pop round when you aint in and see the mrs for payment....lol
  15. do you have a number, address or web address for them? i aint far from there but never heard of em cheers matt
  16. i have a wheten/greyxwhipp/grey, 22 1/2 tts and plenty racy enough for the bunnies but has one hell of a likeing for the sharp end. but i do agree that a straight whetenx isnt really for the rabbiting man and that the beddy/grey would be ideal for most things!
  17. the black dogs dam is beddy/whipp and sire straight greyhound. oh and gilster the wheatens retrieving is coming on very well! he not a massive dog (22") but dosnt mind getting stuck in on a badly shot fox that still has plenty left in the fuel tank
  18. all being well cymru they should be down you're way in the next few months if the invite still stand!
  19. the wheatenx has been lerning his lines all summer so this will be his 1st proper seson with him coming to 18 months and the black 1 has seen it all before with the terrier being in her 1st proper season!

  22. hi cymru, i have a wheaten/grey x wipp, 14 months old and he just started his foxing carreer by tracking shot foxes . he a joy to train and work with. hes a shade under 23" and 38 lbs. i will pm you a few pics just because i like to show off lol and he doing me proud at the mo. he great at working with the terrier on those all important daytime bushing walks and is just getting his head round the rabbits on the lamp. this year will be his 1st proper season and he is full of potential. i aqquired him off whippetlady from this site who has access to an exceptional 1st cross wheaten/g
