  1. If the sheperd bitch is catching the odd hare a whippet over her should produce something useful, thats what i would do and keep the biggest pups, use the biggest[tallest] whippet you can. I dont know much about Borzoi's really, they are supposed to be a bit stupid, but if youre putting it over a herding dog it shouldnt matter the bitch will give it some sense i would think.
  2. Ive not really got anything personal against Gould, just stating facts that i know are true,i even know where some of the better dogs came from, but he wouldnt tell you the truth. Ive seen a few work, and kenneled one for a while to help a lad out, never seen one i would want to own, that said the owners have been messers really. One lad apparently worked a dog with hunts around the Lincolnshire area, the dog supposedly made quite a reputation for itself"they sing folk songs about it" he told me[lmfao]we took him for a dig,dog ran down the drain, bang yelp, dog came out the other end with a ga
  3. Ive been offered a Jagd by a friend [abroad]we were talking about breeding terriers and i said i thought some good terriers could be produced by crossing Jagds with other breeds to reduce size and hopefully give them a bit of sense,i dont know if its ever been tried and would be interested to hear anything,im not ever going to do it,gave up a good while ago,but would be interested in any info. Not meant to offend any Jagd enthusiasts,i know crossing them is frowned upon, but maybe somebodys done it? atb steve.
  4. Ill tell you something else about Gould,he he would buy full litters of black fell type pups and sell them on as his own. How do i know this? i know someone [wont call him a mate, hes a prick] who sold at least one full litter to him to sell on. Other members on here know this as well, fact. Gould= peddler of the highest order.
  5. Beter still get a beddy x whippet/grey or a beddy x grey, still not big dogs[guessing you want a small one]my lads bitch is just shy of 22" tts[beddy/grey x whippet] If i had to choose between a whippet or beddy x whip,i would go for the x,but would prefer some grey in the mix,not just for size, they tend to be a bit more obediant/tractable. No offence to the beddy x whippet intended, but they can be very stubborn imo.
  6. Sorry to hear about the dog mate, hope shes ok and make the bloke pay, that might make him realise. If you dont use one get a small catty Milbro ect and if anything comes at them give it a lead ball in the ribs, loads of idiots round here with aggressive dogs pissed off with it myself.
  7. Assuming this is genuine mate[im not sure] i think the best option would be the Autralian cattle dog x Saluki if you can find a stud dog? Reason being they were developed in a similar enviorement and could manage the heat better than a standard collie, probably better feet as well. Try and read anything by "Dutch Salmon" he runs dogs in the USA,the bloke talks a lot of sense and hunts similar ground/quarry as you will. Good luck.
  8. Rio forget it,didnt re join to argue with anyone, the lad and P3161 are both genuine dog lads this site would be better if you could get more like them. Just my opinion but i doubt anyone will come on and tell everybody about their dogs coursing post ban,it is likely some muppet who doesnt even know them will and drop them in it. atb steve.
  9. Thats a lot of foxes but on a huge land mass like Europe they can easily re populate, otherwise these lads wouldnt be getting so many year after year. Until i worked in Germany i never saw a Marten, couldnt beleive it over there, they were everywhere, even living in towns. As for fox/deer/birds of prey ive never seen as much,be jelouse of our European counterparts lads very jelouse. atb steve.
  10. The problem with bone infections is it wont heal, usssually the skin/muscle heals over the top and then the infection from the bone comes through again, its a vet job really, once had problems myself with a bitch, took months to shift it.
  11. quite right ,fortunatly ive no need to prove anything to anyone .quite comfortable with my lot If youre going to argue and insult people you dont know in this game one day you will have to prove something, trust me on that one. ps have you got one of those big cowboy hats to walk round the shows in??? no .no hat insults go both ways ,i dont take it to seriouslybit to long in the tooth for that ! Just looked back, seems you started the insults, calling my lad a wanker, that f***ing rocks gonna look like a good place to be if we ever meet up.

  13. Think you might have misunderstood that last post. A reference to time put in and respect earned in the field by genuine people, and some misfortunes while doing it,not sat at a key board feeling smug.
  14. dont be so soft. ill be out tommorow. they arent looked at the same at all and id rather get found coursing than digging pigs i know! Didnt you watch cuntfile the other week you fool. How many millions of viewers seen it? Hare coursing was portraid in the same light as Dog Fighting and Badger Baiting. Spouting off on here about Hare Killing dogs and naming names is about the last thing anybody involed in the sport needs right now. Those that know.... know.atb TWILIGHT1 i agree, made the sport look terrible, from reading this thread i have realised how stupid MOST of the people on th
  15. If youve got a "Wickes" store near you they do similar ones to the silver line jobs, think i paid 14 quid for mine, narrow bladed digging shovel, they do the rounded one but its to big, blade needs cutting down a bit imo, personally for terrier work i would round off the small one ive got, unfortunatly i only dig footings with it these days, but its a good strong tool for the money, bit heavier than a bulldog no need to put a steel shaft in it.
  16. This is a long shot mate but the first thing i would do is feed the dog the skins from roasted whole potatoes [not the potato itself] A mate has bowel problems with similar symptoms to your friends dog and a nurse told him to try this, its helped him no end, cant hurt anything to try?
  17. Ive said it earlier on this thread ill say it again, who do you blame for foreign workers taking your jobs? Its the governments fault, not the immigrant workers or the Muslims flooding into this country or the agencies, they are exploiting the situation to the maximum, but they couldnt do it without Labour [the party of the working man] letting them come here. The Tories are no fecking better, the real winners when labour is cheap are companies,ie Tory company shareholders/owners. Just buy a big jar of vaseline grease your arse up and bend over who ever wins the next election, nothing e
  18. The bulldogs are fair quality but can snap on the joint between the blade/shaft,the best thing to do is cut it purposly on the joint and weld a solid steel bar inside it,it makes it heavier to carry but the weight makes them a much better tool to dig with. I broke one and my uncle welded it back up like this,i used it for the best part of 20 years. In the end the blade was so thin it split, probably a good bet to cut the blade down a bit as well.
  19. Sounds like a your dog could be allergic to the antibiotics youre using, when the dogs fit and well and not been worked give him a small dose at least you would know then. The dog might not look dehydrated because antibiotic reactions tend to make the dogs skin swell or puff up a bit in those ive seen. And this is only my opinion mate but if the dog needs anti's everytime you work it the dog shouldnt be worked again,if you keep using antibiotics regularly they just wont work anyway.

  21. Its probably the owners fault if the dog has behaviuor problems,Wolfhounds [what we call wolfhounds] ussually have very good tempraments and are pretty trutworthy with people, animals as a rule. When you think about it would a dog genuinly bred from wolf killers have such a steady temprament? i doubt it very much,a novelty dog nothing more. Now we have DNA testing the enthusiasts could perhaps use it and prove there was some "unknown" ingrediant in them but i doubt they will.
  22. The estate lakes near me have been pretty frozen up for a few weeks, ive kept at a reasonable distance from them myself,a lad with a Lab cross walked past me one day over xmas and 5 minuits later i heard him screaming at the dog,it had run around 50 yds out onto the ice chasing some ducks, luckily the ice held and the dog came back but not a nice experiance for any of us. Glad you and your dog were ok Mally, people die nearly every year trying to save dogs, makes you think.
  23. Theres no such thing as an "Irish Wolfhound" the Irish wolfhound died out many years ago,the real one that is,unless you beleive the theory that the Deerhound and irish wolfhound are more or less the same dog[i think its probably a fair bet myself] The monstrosity your neighbours have is a mongrel created by breeding deerhound,Great Dane and various other dogs together, done by 2 Belgian blokes [i think belgian]around 140 years ago,no genuine blood involved. Big dogs generally dont have long lives, and some of the ingrediants used to create this imposter are full of faults simple. Go
  24. A mate had a bull/grey collie/grey [roughly] and i saw him kill fox like a demon and 10 minuits later retreive rabbit after rabbit without a sratch on them, not the prettiest of dogs but did his job very well. The thing that might be a problem imo is you wouldnt expect a dog with enough bulk to be an efficient fox killer to be really sharp on bolted rabbits,i know plenty of lads will say they have dogs that do both, but most will be much better at one disipline than the other i would think? Maybe a Beddy x whippet/grey type could be one of the best bets for both? Pre ban of course.
  25. This is a common scenario, and when i was on sites it was very common for the builders to have young Brickys and use them as cheap labour, its being going on for years and makes my blood boil to be honest. One time a few years ago me and my mate were building a few bungalows for a "builder"[arsehole] the training agency let him have 3 lads from colledge supposedly he was giving them site experiance, the only experiance they got was mixing gobbo and carrying bricks, blatent slave labour and nothing in return,i tried a bit with them on friday afternoons when the wages were earned, good lads as well,
