    Anyone who walks in the vets now with any dog thats obviously been damaged repeatedly is in trouble unless they can prove all injuries have been come by within the law and treated by a vet asap. All our local vets want you to register with them,so you wouldnt take much tracking down,bet your arse vets are told to report suspicious multiple injuries to a dog. All this really does is prevent a dog that needs expert treatement being treated imo. ps i know a lad who was prosecuted and had the dog temporearily confiscated,six months after he got the dog back the RSPCA came round with the c

    Speaking for myself it was a heart breaker and the main reason i gave up terrier work.Nobody seems to be taking into consideration the legal aspect of things,our old vet was used to treating working terriers never batted an eye,try walking in now with a terrier thats been heavily worked and see what the snotty nosed vet fresh from colledge does,visit from you know who comes to mind.

    100% with you mate Ive been in this situation,and agree with the above posts.I hand reared my old terrier as a pup,he worked hard for 10 seasons,i risked my life several times when digging him,he never let me down and i never let him down but the time came and i did the right thing,not easy the hardest thing ive ever done but i did it not some stranger,and beleive me done right its instant. When i buried this dog i couldnt throw earth on him,i placed it by hand until he was covered.

    Based on the running ability, so your saying the rough coat hinders there running performance and changes their speed.. You just havent seen the right dogs run.. ATB Russ Their coat does not hinder their running ability in the said litters its their conformation as the rough coated one i have has thrown more to the beddy were has the smooth ones have more pace.As for seeing the right ones run its a cross i have been around for over 30 odd years admitedly though crossed with other hybreds wich imho produces better allround lurchers than just a mix of grey/beddy and whippet.atb dell

    Surely you could find pet homes for just 2 pups? could be some kids best mate remembered for life,a lot of people on here from the older generation will have started with a mongrel give em a chance.

    If those "french arrows" are what we called throwing arrows[peice of string with knot,and a groove cut into the back]a mate threw one into my arse from 30yds once[not on purpose]another trip to casualty,thinking about it every summer holiday i spent a fair bit of time getting stiched,bandaged..ect,differance was you could understand what the doctor was saying in those days. And packs of mongrels borrowed off neighbours brings back happy memories,best thread ive seen on here.

    Blackthorn ussually swells and infects even if the thorn doesnt stay in,had a few in the hands arms myself,if its a puncture hole get some hydrogen peroxide [bleach blonde] from the chemist and water it down 3 parts water 1 part peroxide and inject it into the hole with a syringe just use the nozzle [not a needle]it should fizz a bit and fetch the infection out,it mildly cortorises the inside as well,dont use it neat.     I know this is probably a long shot but who knows? A mate split up with his wife,i think it was around 1985?,he had a very useful beddy/lakeland first x,named "Pagen". He asked a mate to kennel her for a while until he got settled again but then dissapeared for a good while leaving the dog.The lad who kenneled it eventually sold it to some lads in London,i dug to this bitch quite a few times and she was coming on a treat,the lads who bought her thought she might be stolen as they couldnt beleive anyone would sell this bitch,but thats not the case,after that i dont know what happened to

    Just a bit of terrier history,i finished a good while ago although if i could have those dogs back i would be very tempted,just for the record i didnt breed all the pups myself,i let a few lads use the black/tan dog over their bitches,i heard some of the pups were doing pretty well but didnt see a good percentage of them work myself,im told theres some that still go back to him about,but its well diluted by now,he died in 1993.

    Nice strong stamp, it is clear they do the biz. I always say as long as the dog is doing what you want it to do, does not matter what colour it is, after all I doubt very much any vermin is going to turn round and think `oh its all right its only a red Plummer` or `sh#t its a white lakie x` The colour doesnt make the slightest difference,thats not the point,the white dog was from S.Wilkinsosns line,the colour comes from the Russell types of Arthur Heinamann,put into this strain in the 1920's,no further Russell blood was added as far as i know.     The red dog looks very similar to some of mine produced from the white dog,but the white dogs arent very similar to him at all,as someone said mate whats the breeding?

    Mine was tri coloured,mostly white black patch on one side of arse and tail,black/tan on his head,he was the only dog pup in a litter of 9 and the only white one,both parents were dark coloured dogs,Wilkinsons strain,i only bred around 15 pups from him no whites,i bred something like 30 pups from his son [black/tan] and he only produced 1 white terrier,but the bitch contained a fair bit of russell blood so you couldnt call him a genuine white Lakey. I lost two terriers in the same accident once,gutted and felt like packing it in,luckily i had a pup from them and eventually came to terms with it and carried on,it still bothers me to this day but if you work dogs these things sometimes happen,hope you can come back from this. atb steve.

    I`m lead to belive they are Goldie lines. Some say they are in fact not white lakies as there is no such thing, but rough coated bull x jack russels. Maybe someone can enlighten us. They did exist mate ive had one. Would they be classed as a throwback then from the past when the russel or bull was mixed in. Not been funny, genuine intrest. Throwbacks mate,russell blood was introduced into some strains of Lakeland in the 1920's,they dont breed true so i doubt your mates dogs are genuine,mine never threw a white pup,although his son did,but only when i used him over a bitch
