  4. Bill, that's what sprung to my mind, (that ospreys only fish when they're breeding ) what a load of crap ! Screw them , great shot though
  5. Thanks for your kind words about the hounds, there not the prettiest bunch in Canada but the buggers can hunt as for flesh i dont really feed flesh as most of the country is arable, i feed the hounds primarily on tripe from a local saughterhouse and mink feed, which i get froM a place just north of here, its just ground down minced chicken wings and luncheon meats like roast beef and turkey, they chunk it up and freeze it in 50lbs blocks, it works good for the hounds as well and its like the budgie, it cheap works out about 14cents a pounds so in real money about 7 pence a pound
  6. the thing with that is my Mrs is me Whipper-in, i can just see that, " hey love just get ya kit off and slip in there and drag that coyote out would yer " im pretty sure i can tell you the reponce, and it ends in off
  7. What a good guy, fair play to you, id love to be in but i think the shipping to canada might be a bit pricey not to mention i doubt thered be much of a mirror left by the time it arrrived, it's funny how you can meet hunting folk that are the salt of the earth, makes a change from half of the loud mouthed twats floating around
  8. Seems as crazy a law as the bullshit going on back home in the UK , so...... If I've got this right you can run a deer with harriers, the harriers can then pull down the deer and that's ok, but if you do the same with a foxhound then it's illegal. I would just breed heavy marked small foxhounds and say they were harriers, who's gonna know
  9. Not if its a coyote, unless we cant get it out, we give foxes best, theres just not enough of them around to warrant killing them for no reason, the coyotes tend to either kill or run the foxes out good territory, so its nice to hunt them, if hounds catch one, well then thats just the way it is but i wouldnt bolt or dig one out just for my own self gratification, the coyotes are a different kettle of fish, i will catch and kill them by any legal means, they are a dangerous preditors that will take small dogs to medium sized dogs as well as sheep young catttle etc
  10. Chez, look at my last post you'll see one of last coyotes we caught, but range from a young coyote during clubbing season being the size of a good fox to a full grown coyote being 45lbs and up
  11. Had a good day put a coyote in a culvert after a very quick 35 min hunt
  12. bad luck mate, read on a other Oz site where they loose dogs to snakes. I know if you dont see the snake(bite ) the dog , the dog got no chance as you only got amount of time to save the dog . But if you saw the snake hit the dog, and you had a (Anti- Venom) on you , you might save the dog! , do you lads carry any (anti-venom) on you .? as seen on the telly+ vids where countrys with large amount do this to save lives+ animals from snake bites .!! I think the anti-venom has a limited shelf life and I believe it has to be kept cold, so I don't think it's that practical, Sorry for your l
  13. Thanks mate , had a good day yesterday too, hounds did a brilliant job, the best hunt we had yesterday was an hr and 20mins but he ran in to the village so we had to give him best, the good thing about coyotes if you like hound work and hunting is they very rarely go to ground, sometimes they'll get in to a culvert or a stick pile but not that often, so if sniff if half decent and you have enough country and horse power you can have very good sustained runs of an hour or more fairly easily
  14. yeah Al he was a canny size, around the 50lbs mark, not the biggest we've caught but quite heavy if the coyotes are pushed hard they'll go into culverts and like this one did an old barn, or even big stick piles thanks Cheers Matie
  15. The Hounds are on fire at the moment, we met at the kennels this past Sunday and had a very good day, hounds caught one coyote after a quick 10 minute hunt and then went on to have a very nice hour and and ten minutes on another catching him in good style, as the hounds were worrying that coyote hounds took off on a third, i very quickly had to get my arse back in the saddle before i got left behind hounds did a very good job on this coyote and to say he was a very lucky coyote would be an understatment, hounds checked after about 30 mins of running him, i was well out of horse at his point
  16. from the new york times http://www.nytimes.com/video/2010/04/26/sports/1247467638442/coyote-vs-greyhound-one-man-s-sport.html?src=tp

  18. Its getting close to the end of our season here in Canada, although i hope we might keep going a little bit longer, Wednesday we met at one of our best fixtures where we've been finding coyotes all season but they have been running in bad directions, yesterday that didnt happen. We met at 11 and headed out across a ploughed field to the first cover, my wife ( who whips-in to me) slips on ahead to get to the other side of the cover, then she says over the radio that theres a coyote in the middle of the field, i look to the west and sure enough theres a yote sitting in the middle of the field
  19. I just found out the chemical name for Viagra , it's real name is Mycocsafloppin
