If you are shooting, with an air rifle, just get one of those led lenser style torches, will light up to as far as your gonna shoot and obviously pick up rabbits much further, you'll get one for under 50 second hand.

Those first 2 lines and last line are spot on DNA testing? tells you their relatives(parents and siblings)full stop, it cant tell you its a domestic polecat or a wild eu polecat as a parent. Y.I.S Leeview Correct, DNA test don't work as they are so genetically similar (hybrids and pures that is). And as all ferrets are effectively polecat-hybrids. . . . .

It's not gonna be consistent either way is it, plenty of folk who work who spend more time with muts than their unemployed counter parts, and there are plenty of folk who couldnt train / keep a dog no matter how much time they had. Having said that, two folk, both with good dogs, both with the right attitude and knowledge etc, stands to reason the unemployed one will end up with a 'better' dog, even if only in the work that it has done, stands to reason don't it?

Most likely the novelty will wear off mate. But as long as your happy, thats what counts. Get yourself a locator tho if you are getting a lot of kills down there, that would be doing my head in.

O yes Elmer Fudd, just read your description of a ferret vs an 'e.u polecat' (can we stop calling them that, they are all fecking e.u we live in bloody europe) working wise . . . . All i can say is you have seen/had/worked some fecking useless ferrets by the sounds of it.

You'll regret it when you wipe them out mate, and i hate nothing more (personally) than leaving dead rabbits underground and f*****g up the sets. Although farmers go on about wanting the rabbits gone, in reality, few expect total eradication, just a take down to manageable numbers. If all you are seeing is little uns i'd leave it and spend your time trying to get some more permission for proper ferreting.

I have a short barreled Aya, very handy for rough shooting, and being around cover, trees etc, and i have used it on driven shoots. Unless your shooting some REAL high birds then a 26" will do, imo.

Aye mate, got to be careful with that one, try to bag up the dead straight away, and give the dogs a wash / brush if they have been near plenty. Thing is mate it can come in on any animal or plant matter etc.

watch a rabbit that youve just killed as soon as it starts to cool all the fleas jump off so it has to be a live infected rabbits Yes mate i am aware that fleas leave dead rabbits pretty sharpish. My point was, it aint exactly hard to aquire a live rabbit with mixi is it? I'm pretty sure some folk still sell em to the farmers etc.

Where is that from mate? It's not surprising, i bet its seen an AK used plenty of times and so just copied what folk usually do when holding one. Looked a more capable weapons handler than most of them dick heads.
