Millet - i want both Seriously though, i find myself under dogged. My ideal daytime team would be a good lurcher, along side finn, and something to push stuff out. Also i'm out with johnny a lot, and others, and as we all have runners that will work cover, no one has a dedicated cover dog. Also, it would be handy for work on the shoot. RM - thats a nice hound mate, any side photos? RA - Will do now mate!
-
God bless your poor wife then Johnny, i only see Lil occasionally, and that is MORE than enough Don't pity that woman! She is like a cross between the dog whisperer and crocodile dundee, serioulsy, the stuff she can get dogs to do is UNREAL!
-
Good good. Aye i figured so. And cheers mate
-
It is mate, the holy one! Missus is away sunday morning, if you fancy a shine after that? One last sortee!
-
Fingers crossed mate, although i think i will need a bit of extra work, if im to keep myself in my accustomed standard of living I'm sure something will come up Need a gun? Funnily enough i have a range of shotguns (12 and .410) and a couple of air rifles (spring and pcp). . . . . it's just that shooting stuff isn't really anything to be proud of, and too boring to talk about! Thing with the ss collars, as good a they are, i think my dog looks silly enough as it is, without wearing a scarf

It hides the sins mate, and gives just that wee bit more protection from the minor rips and tears. Such a shame that the black dogs blood is gone, looks a fine beast, very strong, yet very fast. At least that's from looks. If you hear owt about the other blood, give me a shout. Keep me informed anyhow, and say hello to you know who, although im sure he will read this.
-
Cheers all! Bryson - you are right from what i have seen mate, just like us, the dogs weight, makes running through sand harder than running on grass etc, whereas the rabbits fly over it, also turning is more difficult. Joball - I do now take the collar off in the house and about the yard, but i always hunt/run him with it on, he gets so many cuts to his face and shoulders, it gives the neck a little protection. He is also the kind of dog you need to hang on to / pull off some things. Rob - the beach in winter is one of my favourites, more so when it borders some kind of rough lan

Aye . . . it's all very well keeping yourself to yourself and telling no one of your dogs prowess etc etc etc. But then when you breed, you cant really blame folk for not taking your arm off for the pups. If they have never seen the dogs work, and never heard owt about them , that's just how it will go. I'm not suggesting that we need to be all self publicising etc, but also sometimes folk act like wee kiddies who want to keep all the sweeties to themselves. If it's really good blood, then get some on the deck and working, you never know what might happen . . . . and you could lose the line. A

Credit to you mate, i bet they make good ferreting dogs
-
I deleted a lengthy post. But in short it said - some good posts, and yes i could start a line, but i'd like my ideal dog before i'm 60. And i'm not suggesting that you need to post on here or stick up lots of photos in order to have a decent mutt or line.. . . . . But other than me knowing / meeting them, how else am i meant to trawl for a line / pup etc? As it seems most dogs are shit, and if its a good breeding the pups are either secretly produced and given to close friends or culled.

Here is one for the class. Is this guy for real???? I can't work it out. This started because cmm made a snide comment at the original poster, which i pointed out, then it's me making 'wise cracks' at his posts? Which justifies taking the piss out of me and johnny? It doesn't bother me, but it's rare you come across someone who is so blind to their own poor social skills. For the last time - i don't dislike you in any way, i just get a bit irritated by the way you look down on people pretty much all the time.

Some interesting replies, and soe folk who obvioulsy get what i'm after, and some that don't. As good as Bryn is, and like i have said, he is a great (maybe the best) example of a 1st x collie / grey, but that's not what i am after, i'm looking for a pup, which comes from a long line of hunting dogs on both sides, that can be traced right back. There are some on here, that obviously know what dog/s i want a pup out of. But it's just nice to see if there is anything else out there that would be equivilant, and at the moment, that looks like a big fat no! As for hancocks - same as ab
-
Aye, you are pretty much right Rake. Vin - Bryn is probably the best 1x i have ever seen, but i wouldnt get my ideal pup from any 1x or 3/4 bred. I would rather have lurcher to lurcher with the traits i want in both parents.

Good to see the famous hound at last! He looks a nice type mate, and in good condition. A credit to you -
They are unless you know the right people OP good luck in finding 1 100%
-
Really? They seem to be fecking everywhere, well at least they are mentioned a lot on here. Which i have never got. . . . because working beddys really ARE like gold dust!
-
It's a combination of his loose collar rubbing up and down as he runs, and him pulling on the slip when i put the beam on To be honest it's annoying, cos like you, a lot think its some kind of skin condition, but his coat is excellent.
-
Aye mate, them bunnies are big and strong!
-
I love it when folk know that you are right and try to deflect attention from the fact that they are a bit of a prat, by trying to be witty. You never answer the question / point
-
Cheers mate! I guess that not one single person on here owns a collie lurcher that wasnt bred by hancock, that is any good. . . . .
-
at a guess.........i'd say merthyr mawr......ogmore,???? just a bit of advice jai, unless you already know, be careful down around there when the weather starts to warm up, supposed to be alot of adders there, and you would'nt want the dog getting involved with them while he's hunting about. all the best, jay. Cheers for the heads up jay! I been meaning to pm you for weeks to see if you still wanted that hob?Rae - aye mate, similar to yellowcraigs. And Yer, the missus is a hippy!
-
I'm not from west sussex but the missus is and so im down there hunting a bit over the season, nice land, plenty of game, and nice locals
-
Aye, for the record, there is no way in hell i'm getting a pup off hancock. . . . not to offend anyone that has. I will keep waiting and keep searching, and eventually come up with the ideal pup that ticks all of the boxes, it might be this summer, it might be in a couple of years time, but when it comes together it will be worth the wait! I'm sure it will all work out, but its just amazing that the 'original' lurcher, and one that is spoken of so much, and seems so popular, is such a b*****d to find. To be honest i blame hancock - if it wasnt so easy to go and buy a pup from him, ther
