absolutely right ferretlove, there are many amateurs coming into the game right now, some of them may own a hob and jill, and being summer it's breeding time so they may welcome the advice as they may be wondering why their ferrets are making strange noises etc;more to the point this is going to happen in a lot of ferret hutches right now,we can't ignore some basic animal rights now can we?Maybe some members out there can tell us if any of this information has been helpful, all the best, Higgins.

sorry Millet,i just couldn't get the 'old in out' shot of Orange clockwork fame, maybe next time pal, Higgins.
-
i'm in northwest mate, there's prob no chance of me seeing them up here, but all i can say is was any pikies, gypos and such like in the area offering to tarmac your drive or sharpen your knives, other than that do you know of any local lads that are into the game and don't have the best dogs,i sincerelely hope you get ypour dogs back mate, but don't leave any stone unturned,be ruthless in your search,in the past it has paid of for me,all the best, Higgins.

yes i can see all your points of view, but this is natural in the grand scheme of things, not something i endowed ferrets with, also there could be some amateurs wanting to know what mating rituals look like, not trying to upset people here, but the photos could be of help to amateurs who've never bred from their ferrets, all the best, Higgins.

have a look on my post ferrets mating,i wil sort you some out,all the best, Higgins.
-
well i suppose we would never have ferrets in real life if you did not allow them to do what's supposed to be natural,i let them mate if the urge is that strong, why deny them is what i ask ?As in the case of infections i keep a close eye on the jill, and will treat accordingly, but after the first encounter there was no sign of serious biting on her neck, but all the same i will monitor the situation, all the best, Higgins.

just thought i'd send these pics in of my ferrets mating, wasn't going to breed them this year but the hob actually got under the floor above to the jill, the photos are from tonight when i threw the jill in with him and took some photos,i figured since he already had her ,might as well chuck him in now and again, satisfies their urges and keeps them quiet later on i suppose, Higgins

yes CH is right, try a different cap as a last resort as this can make a difference,in short try as many things as you can before writing any collar off,all the best, Higgins.
-
try new batteries mate, some batterys are nearly exhausted when you buy them, also make sure all connections are clean and dry, especially inside the caps,as they can still be caked in mud etc; try a few set of batteries, before you write the collar off,you can't do much with the collars repairwise as they are sealed in resin, all the best, Higgins. forgot to mention, also check the recievers battery, and change it if in doubt, sometimes the box is not picking anything up,people automatically look for problems with the collar first,if there is a weak battery in the box it has the same effe

How do you reply to critics of of ferreting?
higgins replied to mooster's topic in Ferrets & Ferreting
i find that no one shares our passion, likewise we don't share theirs,it's best not to get in these converstions with work folk or other, you are inviting trouble simply because viewpoints are differrent,it's best to do just what you have to do,and let them do what they have to do,we'll never find an appreciative audience, times have changed so much, that we don't live in a free country anymore,so best to keep it quiet unless it's a shared experience,we live in a new age of hunting now,all the best, Higgins. -

gets probably the twat who made the decision in the first place,is an arse licker who has been told by one of the most prominent MP's,to do his job so he can get his arse licked by the younger ones after him, that's politics for you! I'd have a Ghurka hunting with me anyday,i would be privileged to have one on permanent standby in those situations where i'm hunting and someone is noseying about my business, hope this guy gets his treatment and the rest of his days are idyllic, personally i wouldn't mind the country being overun by them in place of the other eastern european immigrants,

while these shovels may be handy in the most undemanding situations,i can't believe the army has to cope with it,you army folk, should take a leaf or two out of our books, though you lads do a great job,you are not furnished with the right equipment to start with,if your shovels are that basic, your guns can't be much better, you should all question your superiors and the gov'mt for issuing you with inferior tools, how the hell do you do your jobs, all the best, Higgins.

it might be a bolt of lighting symbol,but haven't seen a canon 300d closeup before,maybe a 125/s shutter speed, Higgins. -
fell terrier mate, about 2 year old. Never knew where to start with him so he's never done much Dont even know if it's too late??? he's got the heart he's definitely not too old, better late than never or starting them too early,i reckon he should be more than ready, all the best, Higgins.
-
well we all have to start somewhere......................i'm sure he's reading all this now and wondering what amount of trouble and reaction has been caused, but the minute he realizes what he has done,he will be a better person... Higgins.
