  1. Farmer: A bloody fox has had a load of my chickens, lambs, ducks etc - please shoot the b*****d. You: Sorry mate, there's a possibility it may be a vixen with dependant cubs and its not fair on them. If you don't mind i'll wait a couple of months until the cubs are dependant and then hopefully, I can sort them before they wipe the rest of your flock out. Farmer: What about my stock in the meantime? You: Errrr Farmer: Sling your hook - i'll find someone else.
  2. I was in the highseat for 5am on Saturday at my small patch of ground down in Dorset. The priority of the weekend was rabbit netting & snaring but having said that it would be a shame not to get in the woods for a little of stalking and a dose the good stuff - crisp morning air, dawn woodland bird song and the sweet aroma of douglas fir. The gloom of dawn gradually gave way to daylight and as usual with any highseat shooting whilst scanning vigilantly stopped me getting board I got restless to get up and move about. Ignoring my numbing posteria I was eventually rewarded buy the sight o
  3. Down to Wiltshire yesterday evening to meet up with Foxdropper and RabbitController for a stroll about to try for some rabbits and try and tag some troublesome chicken nabbing fox's. As seems to be the case at the moment the rabbits are either out in force or not at all and this looked to be one of those evenings where they were elsewhere. The hares didn't seem to be too bothered with the conditions and were all over the place although these were left in peace. No sooner out of the truck than a bright pair of eyes of an offending fox were caught in the beam. This came charging to a light squee
  4. Very nice mate - the vid makes it look smaller than it really is. A few roe hanging up would give it soime perspective Sorry that leg is still giving you grief, catch up soon bud.
  5. If anyone is in the market for a an AA S2000 please consider the following: http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/241489-air-arms-s200-scope-slip-not-even-been-re-charged-yet/ I've got no experience with airguns other that my oldschool HW77k but this is pretty much brand new and I was impressed. Cheers all Matt
  6. A mate has asked me to put this up for him. Basically he bought it without permission of his other half and has now been busted - its pretty much brand new and hasn't even been re-charged yet. Spec is below and he's looking for £400 - no offers. Air Arms S200 in .22 Nikko Sterling 'Mountmaster' 3-9x50 AO (mil-dot ret) Klever Canvas & Leather padded gun slip There's two tins of pellets which can't have had more that 50 total out the pair of them - thats how many shots this has had through it. I had a go on it today and its mint condition, accurate and punchy. I've not no experienc
  7. Trouble is even in the unlikely event one did properly try to nick your garlic bread (which is just bang out of order... especially when theres a surplus of bin bags, kebab wrappers and vomit on the floor most evenings). My instinct would be to try and grab the f****r, swing it round by the back legs a few turns and smash it against a lamp post (or a BMW if ones parked handy ). A who'd believe you when you got your collar felt by the plod 5 minutes later once the helicoptor was summoned or CO19 shot you for carrying an offensive water pistol.
  8. Oh ok then... Anything for a Bacardi Breezer - check out the muff on this: Just to reiterate this is a FERAL CAT NOT A DOMESTIC CAT it came charging to the call in the middle of a large farm estate miles from anywhere Hi mate - its a Remi 700 Varmin & P8 Mod in .223. Its had a bit of tinkering with a AI mag kit added, hogue stock and 4" chopped off the end; weighs a bit but I love it - sadly it means I longer have an excuse to miss
  9. Thanks all - weight wise the second one down was 22lb and the fat boy at the bottom was 27lb.
  10. Yeah - the HMR For feck's sake lets not broach the pro's/cons of the two though... again
  11. Oh mate - thats a cracker. What a pussy - what an imagination
  12. Nice shot on your first deer - When did you shoot it last year?
  13. Any chance you fellas could all swap numbers and conferance call each other to sort this out? You've all got good stuff to contribute individually but its not half boring when you go at each other on here all the time.
  14. Last night was near full moon with not a lot of breeze down this neck of the woods but it didn't seem to stop last night turning into another busy night on the vermin on Foxdroppers' ground. Started off with a small patch on the way to the main area of focus where we hoped to allay the farmers fears that his new lambs were being pestered - no fatalities yet but prevention is better than cure. We we just coming to the end of the round when a fox was seen in a field we had already covered - totally disinterested in the call he moved about is business in the next field and finally stopped in the
  15. I saw one clean a few weeks ago but it was a twiggy, pathetic little thing - I actually thought it might still be un-cast from the previous year
  16. I think it'll look great on that truck of yours mate. Thanks mate - its a beast got a hamster in each wheel if thats what you mean and a hair-dryer turbo... when that kicks in its like being punched in the back and the lights streak like in Star Ship Enterprise. I catch admiring glances in it wherever I go
  17. The planned meet up with Martin and FDtime last night was 7.30 but the engine warning light flashed on the car dash so I was an hour late... thankfully I had the Mother-in-laws Utility Pest Control Vehicle on hand. It might even have passed for realtree-camo... in telly-tubby land: Needless to say with any shred of credibility well and truely gone the pressure was on to actually try and hit a fox on Martins ground which has, traditionally, been a bit of an issue for me. In a total 180 to the weather the week before it was mild and overecast and we were hoping to catch some rabbits out
  18. Amen JG - Reality check at last. Quoting chapter and verse is one thing after the event but in the heat of the moment I wouldn't think twice either. As for the bloke who said he'd burn a mans house down a couple of pages back I think the c**t should be banned from the site for even implying it.
  19. I've got one mate and really rate them. It's had a few adjustments to it with either 4 or 6" cut off the end, Hogue Stock & AI mag conversion. Its a fair old lump to carry around but pretty accurate although I've had tinker with the trigger to get it as light as possible as there's a fair-hard break on them out the box. I use Norma 40g ballistic tips and with decent glass on top even I can shoot clover leaves all day at 100 meters prone.
  20. What you seem to be asking mate is what 'centerfire' can you get away with... wrong angle... don't ask you feo what he will 'allow' you to have - tell him what you want. "I am applying for a variation for a .223 for fox and vermin control". Justifiable 'reason why' is what its all about. The land block isn't that important when a high seat is added to the equation.
  21. Well done mate - didn't fancy the carry back then hey, funny those gates always seem to be locked when i've got the roe sack An eventful morning out mate with some nice shooting and a good post as always. Liking the close up of the T8 - half moderator, half muzzel break now ain't it Just get some maul grips and make that new one fit
  22. Hi mate, I have a P8 that I interchange between my .223 and 6.5x55 and it seems to work fine. I did get another bush done for the mod as the .223 is a varmint barrel and the 6.5 a sporter but don't bother swapping the bush's over anymore and I can't see they make that much difference. Maybe a calibre specific mod fir centerfires would reduce the noise a fraction but i reccon it would be splitting hairs. Between WMR and RF you'll be sweet. Matt
