    Benefits

I have been out with spaniel's with harris's and they can be a good team aslong as the dog can be held back and not hunt to far infront.

Spaniel's/pointers and other dog's work well with hawk's and ferret's if all are trained correctly..but a stuborn lurcher or stuborn terrier is a no no where hawk's are concerned.

They is no added benefit really..if you have dog's that will chase and kill they will compete with the hawk and probably piss the hawk of if they dont kill it..it's rather one or the other for me..bird's for daytime dog's for night time..
  4. It's too easy to catch mole's and i do it for free for a friendly farmer just for the enjoyment of being in the countryside and seeing a good result from the trap's at the end of the day..
  5. I made my own out of a golf club... all i done was cut the head of the club and stick a 15mm bolt into the shaft that had the edge's ground of with a grinder..

  7. well can you honestly say yours is??? 2 millioin per cent.. Edited for the new age slip and kill hunter's with no moral's or respect
  8. I can not be arsed to read the full post's but what i have read from the first post..full of shite spring's to mind..as i belive once the light is not on.. the dog should be beside or behind you instantly with no fooking about..
  9. Read a Hawk For The Bush by Jack Mavrogordato.. and read it well and keep reading it till it sink's in..the book i have here fell into my hand's when i was in junior school and only young..which will of been in the 80's ..back then i only liked picture's but as the year's progressed i started reading it more and more..i now have info in my head that wont go away and it is for the better hawk wise.. i did read other book's but not many matched the old one and any info that has sunk in is only furniture picture's.
  10. Im a free loader so to speak..i have a house which was given to me but pay no bill's... i have no permanent job.. but what do i make i save and by doing that it gives me load's of free time..and that is what a bird need's..as it need's to be flown atleast 6 times a week to get a good level of fitness and confidence.
  11. As said already..Awsome picture's
  12. Have a flick through the prtridge thread.. http://www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/215299-partridge/
  13. If they is any Grey matter for sale on ebay that will absorbe info..buy it now..
  14. Mattyski done the hardest bit mate so good on him with driving out of his way and giving me and Moll a good old chinwag.. ..Moll also done a good job of looking after them for you once i got them to that spot.. .. When they are settled in they will start laying pretty regular..and when the photoperiod changes like it is now you will benefit with the egg laying if you stick a 40watt bulb in there house on a timer..to come on half hour before dark and adjust accordingly so they get at least 18hr's a day of light.. Any question ask away or PM me.. Cheer's Millet
  15. Some hawk's need to be flown off the fist and other's like the harris can follow on like a dog..the ones that follow on will chase/catch whatever you put up in front of them rabbit wise and will also spot rabbit's and other quarry what you cannot see which can be a advantage in some place's..ferreting bunnies is also a good way but for the best result's the bird need's to be flown from the fist in open area's if possible.. All the above is only possible with a properly manned and trained hawk..
  16. The reason mesh is not liked is the bird can fly to the front and grab the mesh with his/her feet and in doing so the fanned out tail feather's will be poked trough the mesh which will cause untold damage while the bird is walking up and down the mesh..with bar's they is no grip for the bird to hang onto and they sharp get the message trough that it is pointless to try and hang onto the bar's..
  17. Thank's for that Buster..i think i have nailed the problem by doing the easiest of thing's and that was giving the barrel a good old clean..upto now and i touch wood as im saying this..the gun is now grouping ok within a 5p size grouping at 30yrd's..i am also only going to fill the rifle to 170bar and not let it go under 150bar if i can help it as that is where it is most accurate.. DANGER

I honestly thought that was a 12lb+ female goldie..
  19. I have cleaned the barrel and all seemed to be going smooth until i tried my tight 10 shot magazine in the rifle..i have 3 x 10 shot mag's two of them load the pellet's in smoothly but one of them has to have the pellet's pushed in with minimum of force..i don't know if it is coincidence or the skirt of the pellet's are getting slightly misshaped in that mag..i will fire a load more shot's later on today at 30yrd's inside of a barn out of and wind and get back to you lot.
  20. The house martin population left this area in the north east over a week ago..but when i went out in the garden this morning they have all came back.. ..this weather is playing serious games with the bird's mind's..i have even been watching rook's building nest from the start of last week..i just hope the martin's don't start rebuilding as the weather is meant to turn bad over the next couple of week's and i would hate to see any perish..
  21. Davy..i have checked the barrel..it was not loose but i undone the two grub screw's anyway to see if it sprang back into place but it did not move..i then used a level/set square and rule to measure it and it was bang on inline..so all i can really put it down to from the information i have received...is something internal is failing or need's a clean.. Cheer's
  22. Cheer's for that Mikey i might just have a play with it and see if any of the internal's need a clean with the dremel..
  23. I have cleaned the barrel about 3mth's ago..the gun was shooting fine but i cleaned it anyway..after i cleaned the barrel it was shooting just the same and has been upto now...i have not chronographed it yet but i am sure that is not he problem as it is throwing them left and right aswell as up and down.. Cheer's lad's..
  24. These pic's should of been in the middle of my original post but the photo upload on the site is the shi.t's.. Believe it or not this is my third attempt to upload two fecking picture's..
