  1. I reckon you might well have lucked in there mate! Don't know a lot about Scorpions but an AA S400 will give anything a run for it's money.
  2. If you have the room in the car or you can store things on site, just use garden canes with strong garden tape joining them instead of lofting poles. Place them about 10ft in front of the tree so they can be clearly seen and wait. I use 5, 6' garden canes, one split in two, which give me 2 15' lofted decoys, placed 8' ish in front of the tree cover, I then place 8 shells out on the ground, spread in a horseshoe pattern, down wind from the setee tree, spaced between 15 meters and 30 meters from my lay up spot and wait. The little winged cherubs will either land in the tree or your pattern a
  3. You might have opened a bit of a worm tin here, Rushty! It's certainly an option to ask, but My Father in Law had a similar situation with two local guys who were shooting pigeons on the farm. After three weeks and claiming to have shot 150 birds in a day, he was asked to consider contributing towards the cost cartridges. He declined swiftly and advised them that if their sport was proving cost prohibitive, perhaps they should refrain from continuing on his farm. The exact expression he used contained about 6 words! Now it's just me with the trusty Air Gun allowed. If you are prep
  4. You're going to love it mate!
  5. Great article in this months air gun world on the subject, well worth a read!
  6. Hold on to your money and get a decent springer! I had a Rat Catcher, great for plinking but not a lot else at range.
  7. As some might know from the Technical section, my AA S410 busted about a week ago and since noticing, I reverted back to 'Old Faithful', my Venomed HW77 K .177. I headed out on Monday afternoon, full of retro joys and with a freshly bought tin of AA Field to check the zero and go retro blasting long eared crop scoffers, with some 23 year old German engineering, improved on by an original British upgrade, brilliant! ... OR NOT, as the case was! As I set about zeroing I suddenly discovered how inaccurate, cumbersome and down right heavy the jumped up hun had become. First I blamed the sc
  8. Hi there I was having a discussion about them with a couple of guys shooting this morning. Don't know to much about them but found these three reviews that might help. http://gunmart.net/gun_review/hatsan_at44-10/ www.airarmsownersclub.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=20612 www.reviewcentre.com/reviews244945.html Bit of a Marmite gun by the looks of it. My ten pence worth is if you are used to shooting a Daystate then these most probably won't appeal, but if you are looking at trading up to one from a mid range springer, then you will probably really love it!
  9. After missing a few REALLY easy shots yesterday, I decided to double check my zero. Although still perfectly in line on the Y axis, the group of forty shots were landing a good 5 inches below where they had landed the previous day, plus I can now clearly see the pellet through it's flight. I've noticed a decrease in power over the last few outings and although I don't have a chrono, it's pretty obvious but grouping still remains very tight. Should I send the gun to AA directly to get it serviced and if so how much would I be looking at and on average how long would it take? Does anyon
  10. HW77K all the way mate. They're awesome. Mine's over 22 years old and with the venom upgrade, is still unbelievably accurate. I love it!
  11. I wouldn't worry to much about recoil mate, it's all about getting used to the behaviour of the gun! Once you're used to your gun, you'll automatically compensate for recoil. If you were to then buy an all singing rifle in a while after, you'll be an awesome shot! I think that .177's a good option though, as the steadier, more accurate pellet trajectory will again help with recoil compensation. I have a .22 XL that I take bunny bashing every now and again, it's a great little springer!
  12. If yopu can't beat em.... Slut em! Congrats to you both, awesome bag!
  13. I wrote a couple of threads a while back about my attempts at pigeons and Phantom recommended the UV pen idea, cracking! If you get yourself 12 shell decoys and a UV pen (less than £30.00 the lot) and follow phantom's advise on where to apply it to the decoy, the pigeons will come in their droves. I love popping pigeons with an air rifle, more than rabbits in fact. They are more predictable in their daily pattern and all you need to do is work out where they'll be and when. Then simply set up near a sitty tree with decoys on the ground and wait.... Great fun! At this time of year,
  14. The times I have zeroed with rabbits are far to numerous to count, what is a great spot one trip is pants the next. Nothing you can do, that's all just part of it. Just remember, in those lean times that you are in no way alone! It happens to us all, no matter what we are after. Just an idea, last year I got fed up with the erratic rabbit shooting on my permission, so I got some pigeon decoys and put them around and in sitty trees near the rabbit warren I was sniping. It really improved my options. Just a thought!
  15. Just found AA Fields for £7.50 per 500 in a shop near Romsey Hants
  16. Thanks guys for all of that and Tony for the SP. Garfield, I think the TDR get's 40 - 50 full power shots, but I've never let it drop that far as tend to top it up after each trip or if plinking, before I head in to the fields. I've just moved to AA Fields from AA Hunter, which I didn't get on with, and before that FX and Accupels. I've got to say that you can't fault AA Fields in the gun, they're pellet on pellet accurate and the shop I got them from which is usually extraordinarily over priced for everything, sells them at £7.99. you can't go wrong!
  17. I haven't posted much on here for a while, partly because of the lack of pigeons at the mo (I love Pigeoning with an air rifle)on the farm, partly lack of time and finally due to the fact that I'm lazy! Anyway, thought I should write something having enjoyed everyone else's write ups for so long... Having had a bad morning at work with fee's dropping like sycamore leaves and having cheered myself up a tad with the football, I set off for a wonder on the farm with both the Venom tuned HW77K .177 and the S410 .22 TDR. After an hour or so merrily plinking on a make shift target range, I deci
  18. Wow, if the contact address wasn't a PO Box in Cyprus, I might well be interested in a HK100 T for £121.00. I imagine it would be well packed as well. If they can fit that much Bullsh1t on the website just think how much they can fit in a box! Might hold on to my cash for a sec but if anyone else wants to risk it or knows different, I'll be right behind you at the cash machine!
  19. Hi mate I've got a night searcher 400 gun lamp http://www.nightsearcher.co.uk/PRODUCTS/tabid/55/agentType/View/PropertyID/47/language/en-GB/Default.aspx that my wife bought me. Utter overkill and the battery pack can be a bit hefty, but with a beam out to 500 meters and the lamp weighing next to nothing on your scope, it's as great at lighting up a field, as it is at shorter ranges. It'll do exactly what you want, but unless your static or in a vehicle, you'll need to get used to the battery weight.
  20. Good stuff mate, good luck with it!
  21. Awesome mate, just shows what applying and presenting yourself well can achieve.
