  1. Its nothing to do with focus, its the line between your eye, the cross hair & the target: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallax Many top end scopes are guaranteed parallax free up to 100yds.
  2. Theres dozens of these kind of posts on here. No one WANTS to spend a fortune on optics, but i'm afraid if you want quality & reliability theres no option but to spend some decent cash. Most posts on optics are looking for utopia: Quality optics & cheap. Have a look through other posts and usually after pages of posts, the OP usually opts for the cheaper option. It isnt 'snobbery', it isnt one upmanship, its paying whats required to get quality. Ive used most cheap and mid-range scopes, and trust me, its false economy. No way could I go back to a compromise. At the
  3. I had a loan of Zeiss Victory rangefinders last week, and I was very, very impressed just before dawn. Hence in another post I,m looking for a pair. £1800 is a sore one from new!
  4. As previoisly said, for low light performance its Swaro, Zeiss, Leica & Docter. Anything else is a compromise. My personal preference is Docter, aa their bit cheaper that the other three, but brilliant in low light.
  5. Sorry mate but unless its a bright day, then your scenario doesnt stack up. I've a pair of Hawkes which were ok during the day, but when the light goes its like looking in a black hole. Remember the OP is looking for low light binos.
  6. Best you read through this post mate, beware: www.thehuntinglife.com/forums/topic/266266-ns200-v-pulsar-550-v/page__st__15#entry2963282
  7. Catch 22, if youve crap binos, you'll miss stuff in low light, similarly, if you buy a cheap scope, you wont pick up the target. I reckon you'd increase your sucess rate by well over 70% by buying decent kit. Its really simple mate, buy cheap & you'll regret it. Hold off a bit & buy decent binos & a decent scope, you wont regret it. The difference in light gathering between cheap binos and the likes of Swaro, Zeiss, Docter etc is nothing short of staggering; literally night & day.
  8. I use Docter scopes on everything, not cheap, but holds zero on my 243, unburstable and simply brilliant glass.
  9. If its for twilight spotting, dont even consider cheapos...youll regret it!
  10. Think calibre, consequential shock & recoil. If its a .22 or slug gun it wont matter, however if its a .308 etc, cheap crap scopes wont hack it. Swaro, Zeiss, Docter, S&B - you cant go wrong. Anything else is compromising.
  11. Depends what you want them for. Its really simple: You get what you pay for! Cheapos will work ok in bright daylight, however when light is poor at dawn or dusk, cheap binos are useless. Swaro, Zeiss or Docter binos all come in at 700 - 1000 quid. The range finder variants are double that. Invest in the best you can afford. Same goes for scopes.
  12. Anyone use these? Id prefer Zeiss but finding it hard to justify almost £2000. At just under £600 the Bushnell's get great reviews online. Be nice to hear some opinions.
  13. Hi, I'm looking for a set of these and thought I'd post just in case someone out there may be considering selling a pair. Looking for 10x42's. I'd also consider Swaro's & Leica's. Thanks
  14. Simple question: Are you financially or commercially related to Night Hunter products or the owner(s)? Reason I ask is you seem to push this particular product & rubbish all the other products, pretty consistently in all posts related to this kind of NV equipment. Its not a crime if you are, but it detracts from the ability to make objective decisions by folk on here. For my part, I emailed the owner with an information request, and 2 weeks later,.... nothing. Pretty indicative of potential customer support I'd say. I'll pass. I guess nil reply is the answer.....

  18. No, but im intending going this route. Im getting a shot of one over the next week, so any additional info would be great.
  19. I have done, and emailed him with my requirements, but after a week no reply, so I think i'll pass on NH kit.
  20. Thanks mate, some of the videos look good. Ive looked on the sniper cam website but its all a bit vague with no prices. I called the number without any success. Looks like there 3 sniper cam models with different IR's the latest being the turbo? Any idea on cost and whats the best one?
  21. Thanks mate, i looked at digital stuff last night, but to be honest I was unimpressed. Then again it was all Pulsar stuff, which seems like a waste of money. What are you using?
  22. I attended a NV demo tonight and have to say I was pretty disapointed with some of the products on display. The new and well publicised Pulsar 750 digital based NV scope was very dissapointing. For kit costing well over a grand i'd have expected much more. Im also told that this kit wont handle.calibres over .223. Waste of money IMO.
  23. Cheers mate, it does get very good press. I'd hate to waste a few hundred quid on a compromise set up. Only thing putting me off is the extra few onto the scope end. How do you find shooting with that? Is it easy enough to go from spotting to sticking in on the scope? Its a big investment mind!
  24. Butler creek front covers are gash, Im on my third this year. The hinge is far too flimsy for such a large objective lens. Hawke, Quake Bushwacker and numerous Chinese stuff arent any better, ive tried numerous. If anyone knows of a decent alternative, please let me know.
  25. not wishing to bugger up my day scope, which is awesome, im leaning towards a Gen3 Starlight Archer, grade D tube. Im going to a NV demo on wednesday night, which I hope will help to make a decision.
