  1. Yeah and I guess strictly speaking the beam could travel for 5 miles when it's narrowed down to a fine point, however as it's being sold primarily as an alternative to NV, then the literature should differentiate between potential distance and useable distance when using a scope. ie 150yds for good illumination and possible usage of out to 250yds when used with a scope. Then again when are manufacturers ever honest when marketing a product ? I should also add that the performance is also governed by weather conditions & quality of the scope your using. If it's one of these horrible
  2. Sako; I guess you could use it as a light, but it's nowhere as good as a lightforce. Where it comes into it's own is when you use it with the scope. The only adjustment you need to make is the beam diameter to fill the scope. It's just a shame that the range isn't anywhere near what's claimed by the manufacturer.
  3. For the pedants; I guess I missed out tbe fact that I've shot 4 foxes using this & a lamp !
  4. Yes it's used with your normal scope and it illuminates the target like NV, up to 150yds anyway. As it says in the review, the beam is adjustable to suit distance & scope. For exact weight, go to the laser genetics website.
  5. Here's the link to what looks a better mount, however there is no lateral adjustment: http://www.gunmart.net/accessories_review/inovaTec_thrunite_catapult_v2_torch/ And this company seemingly sells them, although they are £45 and out of stock ! http://www.inovatech.co.uk/shop/home.php and this lot are selling the ND2X50 for under £300 !!: http://www.gunmart.net/guns_for_sale/2496/ND3x50-Laser-Genetics.html
  6. Thanks for the replies, where di I get a hold of Ian B ? Think I'll go for the 14ah - thanks Sako
  7. No worries, if anyone can supply advice on how to take pictures through the scope I'll have a go - mind all I have is an iPhone and an old Olympus 3.2 Mp camera !
  8. Many thanks, I've more or less decided to buy one, it's the decision between 14 or 22 ah now ! Anyone got advice from buying from Hunting Life ? What about returns etc ?
  9. Laser Genetics ND3X50 Review I’ve been considering different ways to use a gun mounted light on my .243 for some time, so I could lamp on my own. My friend used a Lightforce gun mount for a bit, but it proved to be a nightmare as you have to continually adjust it for distance – ie, angle between the light & scope. I’ll come back to this issue later. I also flirted with some of the Cree LED lights, but they don’t seem to have decent illumination at range, plus the battery life isn’t really great – remember its foxes this is for, so distance is important. I also considered an NV s
  10. lol - I'm on the case, will be up tonight... What about Lithium Ions then?
  11. I will be interested to hear what you think of 3X50 is it the sub zero one ? No its the standard one - the standard ND3X50. The only difference between the ND3x50 & the sub zero is a neoprene cover for the battery section. Scott Country have had the standard one in a freezer for an hour and it was still ok, however I've only used it to temperatures down to around +3c. I'll get round to doing a write up soon - what I will say is for such small batteries, I cant believe the battery life. I reckon I've been out 6 or 7 times with it now, and despite intermittent use over say 4 hours
  12. Hi folks, My belt pack is just about goosed, and am thinking about a Lithium Ion 14AH battery, looks like a good deal from on here - anyone bought one from here? good or bad reviews, generally? I'm looking for one that will run a Lightforce for 3-4 hours. Incidentally, for those interested, I've been using the laser genetics NV 350 for a few weeks now, and will write up a report as soon as I have time.
  13. What's the battery life like on these Tiablo lights ?
  14. Wrong model my friend ! The ND3 & NDX50 are entirely different !
  15. Hmm not entirely helpful or very informative. Fair bit of rhetoric and general bad grammar which doesn't fill me with any confidence of an objective opinion. The other link above, (all 18 pages) are based on the ND3, which is the older and much less powerful model. However, with the exception of comments against the temperature issue, it's mostly positive comments. Have a look at the other post on Led Lights that has an article from Gun Mart I found.
  16. Just thought about a downside using this or any scope mounted light - pop up scope covers ! Suppose they could be angled ....
  17. This is the nearest I can find to an independent report: (sorry about the scan quality) It'd be nice to see technical comparison between this and a Gen 1 NV mind !
  18. The ND3x50 subzero isn't available in the UK yet - the standard ND3x50 is. I started another post on this equipment last week, as I'd also like a scope mounted light. Opinions seem to vary lots, however I've spoken to someone that's pretty experienced with NV equipment, and who has also used the ND3x50. He reckons it's much better that Gen1 NV kit, but has the added benefit of being able to be used as a 'light' when looking for foxes. What's clear is it is very powerful and the concept is sound, however insufficient reviews have been done to make an objective decision. Predict
  19. Thanks folks, its interesting stuff. Like Kenny14, I want to be able to lamp alone, without bursting the bank on expensive NV stuff, however I do take what PC has said onboard. I'll continue to research this more, but it would be great to speak to someone thats used it. I did speak to the folk in Scott Country sports, and he told me he's sold 15 units in February, all pre-ordered, so some shooters must like them... Whats clear is, it certainly has a powerful range, and if it illuminates as well as advertised then its certainly worth investigation. Its a helluva lot lighter and less bul
  20. Thanks PC, trying to be objective, here are a couple of posts from other forums that indicate the opposite: (Just trying to evaluate its merit, or otherwise) It's been LONG time since I've posted on here, but figured I would give my input on a new product many have asked about. I purchased and ND3x50 a few weeks ago from midwayusa.com. Total price with shipping was $338 after a coupon for $30 off. The laser was in a very nice hard case with several adaptors to fit different set-ups. The laser itself looks pretty sturdy and well built. There is an o-ring which protects the batteries from mo
  21. Thanks for that PC, but it doesn't say why? The February edition of Gunmart has given it a really good write up for foxes. I should perhaps say, I shoot around 50-70 foxes a year, but I'm always looking for ways to improve the success rate! I've flirted with NV, but it looks like unless you spend bucket loads for Gen3, then it isn't effective. I'm looking for something that I can use between 100-200yds. Could you to elaborate on why you think its a waste of cash? Have you used one? Does the n1000ap do the same job? The N1000ap is an infrared laser which is used in conjunction

  23. I'd hazard a guess you wont get any replies. Get someone thats legal and knows what their doing to cull the deer for you.
  24. Edit, just seen the sticky above for night vision, but as this isn't NV, I'd still like to question this units usefulness?
  25. I'm thinking of investing in one of these for foxing. Has anyone got any experience of it? I've tried a gun-mounted lamp, but it didn't work very well, and it looks like for the first time these things get you close to Gen iii night vision without splashing out thousands. The big benefit over night vision, is you can use it with good quality scope. The latest model is claiming target illumination up to 500yds. Its about £330 in the UK. http://www.lasergenetics.com/nd3x50-laser-designator.aspx http://espanol.video.yahoo.com/watch/7626440/20246789 As I've
