  1. The reason people rip them apart and upgrade them is because there is a whole industry centered around the 10/22, here in south yorks we have rimfire magic that turn out some of the most trick 10/22s around, they can be improved lots for not a lot of money,I have never fired a Magtech but if the trigger is as p-ss poor as the Ruger, out of the box then an upgrade or some fettling is deffo required, they are dreadful standard.
  2. Should not affect things mate, you had no part to play in that very sad incident, don't worry crack on with your application, shotgun, .22rf and a .22-250
  3. Well I don't reckon I will try it anytime soon, got enough on with the redtail hawk at the moment, but hell yes I would love to see it done, hope you manage it some day buddy.
  4. Jimny mate cant go wrong with one I love mine, unstopabble off road.
  5. Now all this has got me thinking (which isn't very often) I would love to see what could be done with an otter, now that would be awesome sport, imagine buying a day ticket on opening day at your local trout reservoir, and instead of producing a no 7 weight forward, and a big lure, you let an otter out of the bag and proceeded to eat your breakfast while the otter did the business now that would be worth all the training and effort, just to see the looks on their faces
  6. Nikon mate all the way I got one on my .243 cant fault it brilliant scopes.
  7. The trigger on the Magtech may be crap, but so are 10/22s they are like a kids cap gun, but with a bit of tweeking can be made quite good, and yes have a look at the cz very good semi auto, this would be my choice.
  8. As said, lots of jealousy on there, there are some top guys on there as well, you just have to ignore them (if you can) half of them probably don't even fly a bird, and just enjoy the friction they cause, f-ck em.
  9. So he was out for his first hunt tonight, did not manage to catch, but soooo close, did a proper wingover into the gorse, heard a bang and a squeal when I get there he is staring down a hole, so it must have just got out of his grasp and down the hole, anyway walking back later I kick one out of some reeds for him, and off they go up the bankside, I lost sight of them and as I get to the top of the bank, up a tree he goes, the farmer who was stood by the gate filling some water butts, had a massive grin on his face, he said Bubba was on its arse right until the last second when it made some ro
  10. Just buy an approved cabinet, they all do the same job,but I would buy a five gun one mate as you will be thankful of the extra space even if you don't buy any more guns, no more difficult to get them both than one at a time mate, your bedroom will be fine just make sure its bolted to a strong wall and out of sight of callers, buy a cabinet that has a separate locking drawer, as you will be aware that an a firearm, as apposed to a shotgun must have its ammunition locked in a separate box, this will save you shelling out for another box to be bolted to the wall, and trust me on the .22-250 mat
  11. Well to be honest it don't sound like he really needs it, hes already chased a rabbit in the beam, but it certainly wont do any harm pal that's for sure.
  12. Not to worry pal, he chased and that's what matters, sounds like your just like me always forget something like switching your phone off,or a bit of equipment you really needed, get some reflective jesses made and take the bell off or tape it up, you don't need it at night, keep doing a few recalls to the lit glove, to keep him going and the odd lure chase in the beam, it will all come together mate.
  13. Hi mate, I take my hat off to you, that looks like fantastic sport, and some real dedication and hard work on your part,I must admit to thinking oh here we go another idiot, when I first read the thread, I could not have been more wrong, (happily) I am looking forward to learning more about your fantastic sport mate, I once had a hob ferret that would regularly drag rabbits out to the surface, and when you had despatched them he would go back down, but I never trained him to do it in any way, what you do with the mink is fantastic mate.
  14. Come on then Youcanthide, how did the lamping go?
  15. I quite simply put the fired cases that I am going to reload into a box and have a little sticker on it that tells me how many times that particular brass has been reloaded, simple and effective, for instance the loads I am using atm will be on the third reload next time they get filled so my little sticker says 2 at the side of the empty cases, then when they are all empty and reloaded or ready to be it will say 3 on it.
  16. That is exactly what I would do mate, apply for both at the same time, although I might change the .223 to .22-250 but again just opinion, both your licenses would then run out and need renewing at the same time, be honest and let the feo see that you have a good sound knowledge of safe shooting practice, IE safe backstops ect and you should be fine, good luck and let us know how you get on.
  17. Well I will do my best mate, but you know what birds are like nothing is a done deal, good luck tonight.
  18. He went free for a bit on Saturday mate but not for long, an yesterday with the carcass I still had him on the creance, don't think it will be a problem now mate, will make sure he is on weight, then show him some bunnies and hope he nails one, but if his performance is anything like yesterday on the dead rabbit, I think there will be one very unlucky bunny this week at some point
  19. Well that's good value. I can only go off price wise what the friend with the .22-250 said as I don't have an FAC. Obviously he was either wrong or looking at top end equipment. Certainly seemed to be plenty of euqipment needed when I watched this: Doesn't look too complicated but the thoughts of repeating that 50 or a hundred times, makes me want to buy! Yes it is like anything you can spend a fortune on kit if you want, but if like me all you want to do is load a low volume of high quality hunting ammo, a Lee hand press kit (superb bit of kit) around £40.00 some dies,
  20. Fantastic offer there from CH I hope you are taking him up on it, because I am confident you will not believe the difference after a fortnight, she needs manning and then back into hunting sharpish, then that aggression will disappear, or at least be channelled into the right place, the quarry, give it a go mate, you will be so glad you did
  21. Best of luck mate, they tend to miss one or two at first until they get the idea, I found with mine at first it helped if I had the beam ever so slightly in front of the rabbit as it ran, as if you were leading it with a shotgun, I might be wrong but I think it encourages them onto the head, as I noticed mine grabbed the first one or two a bit far back, and the other plus point with lamping is you can have them a little higher in weight, in fact when I put mine up it seemed to make her chase all the harder at night, just need to get Bubba his first kill then I will have him out lamping cant w
