  1. I would but I usually leave that kind of thing to the (shall we say) intellectually challenged, do let us now how you got on.
  2. Damn you got me there I forgot Duncan said it.
  3. You cant shoot foxes with a .308 a Ruger 10/22 would be better, over 150 yards obviously.
  4. Well done no abuse, did you get someone to write that for you?
  5. Ahh the mark of a dullard, resorting to abuse,oh dear oh dear, I will not resort to such base tactics, as you obviously lack the intellect to debate a subject in a civil manner, are we still smarting because I made you look a bit silly on the moderator issue, ahhhh
  6. So in the area where I am mentioning, bordered on 3 sides by suburbia, with lots of nice middle class old ladies feeding foxes and badgers in their gardens, food will not be a problem at all then will it, so I hardly think that is the answer.
  7. Ha ha ha are you for real? I head shoot rabbits regularly up to 90 yards longest being 127yards with my 10/22. I can assure you I'm no Rambo nor do I have any want to be. I concede if I was punching paper targets it's not as accurate as my mates anchutz, but I'm not I'm shooting vermin and it makes a very good job of it. P.S last time I checked 5 million of these rifles have been sold maybe they have got something right And I am the mate with the Anchutz, and I can confirm that his 1022 is a very accurate rifle and have seen him head shoot bunnies lots @ 90 yards and more, ok
  8. Yes I totally agree with the op, it was the second bullet hitting the first
  9. Weatherby everytime mate, superb Jap engineering, mine will shoot ragged one hole groups @ 100 yards with my handloads, and with Federal factory will shoot a half inch group or less.
  10. But surely if the moderator was poorly aligned with the bore as you suggest "to bring it to the point of failure" then surely the op would have noticed a dreadful lack of accuracy from his rifle? (perhaps the op would care to comment) due to the bullets clipping the inside of the moderator, no rifle on earth will shoot like that, no I am afraid I am sticking with my theory, and yes Rimmer I understand what you are saying about the bullet exiting the barrel, but lets not forget the op said the case was split, and smoke was pouring out from the back of the bolt, my guess is the case has rupture
  11. A problem with what mate? Do you have one of these super new nail guns?
  12. I can assure you that I know the difference between a misfire and a hangfire, but thankyou anyway, however you state that the barrel would have PROBABLY blown, but in this case it did not,if we assume as I think is fair that moderator and barrel are correctly aligned (owing to the fact that the op has used his rifle with success in the past) then the only possible explanation for "the firework display" and "multiple ricochets"can only have been caused by an obstruction, the fact that various parts of the internals of the moderator joining the bullet fragments downrange, strongly suggests, I am
  13. Very doubtful Really, well do enlighten us and tell us where you think the bullet from the first hangfire went then?
  14. Might help if you mention how much you are looking for in cash or swap mate
  15. Once again, does anyone in South Yorks, or Chesterfield have any kits from working stock for sale if so please let me know, Charlie.
  16. Yes HE has got it still, and if you read his post so has one other lucky lad.
  17. Well before calling the lad an idiot, perhaps you should learn to read, he took the moderator off and looked up it, THEN removed the bolt and looked up the bore, now who sounds silly eh? the cause of this is quite simple, he has had a round lodged in the barrel, fired the next round and was treated to a firework display, yes agreed he should have checked before chambering another round, after the click and delay, as I would have, assuming a problem, as I said earlier just another horror story to add to the catalogue of hmr incidents, personally I would not have one given to me.
  18. Yes I am also getting slightly depressed by the lack of Rabbits in my locality, now I am sure that last years crap summer will have affected things and last year was a poor breeding year, with many warrens being flooded out, in lowland areas prolonged snow has little effect on rabbit numbers and indeed they wax fat on tree bark ect although I accept in upland areas it is a different story, myxy and in some areas vhd will take there toll, but we are talking about one of the most fecund lagamorphs on earth here, with an ability to reproduce at an alarming rate, now I am absolutely convinced that
  19. Very well put old boy, the area of land that I am speaking about in my original post is a farm of some 450-500 acres in some of the most lovely countryside you could imagine, it is however bordered by suberbia on three sides, and is a veritable mecca for foxes, they have a choice, not unique I am sure, when times get hard suberbia offers easy pickings, when times are easy then the countryside offers a haven to grow and breed, that is a simple and perhaps logical way of looking at things, however this whole siyuation is rather turned on its head when you consider that I have been shooting ect o
  20. It makes me laugh, anyone would think that foxing with a lamp and rifle did not exist before the hunting ban, I know guys that have been at it for years, now during the late 70s early eighties fox pelts were fetching in the region of £15.00 each, a working man wth a moderate job probably earned around £75-£100 a week at that time, now it does not take a rocket scientist to work out that if a man went out with, rifle, lurcher, shotgun, ect not to mention lots of snaring being done as well, he would not have to shoot too many foxes to make a significant improvement to his income, as a case in
  21. I have no personal experience of being in a target club, however I would imagine this to be normal, if the home office/police are concerned, they do not like to rush, I think you should just exercise a bit of patience mate, sure it will be fine.
  22. So has nobody bred any Ferrets then this year in south yorks?
  23. Very nice offer mate, but why oh why are they never nearer Sheffield, I would have jumped at that.
  24. I agree, and I think he is being deliberately contentious, and I for one would not shoot with anyone who's sole aim in going out shooting was to enjoy killing,I feel sorry for people who can't see beyond pulling the trigger.
