  1. Nikon prostaff on mine 3-9x50, set on 61/2 power most of the time, and I love the bdc reticule
  2. No doubt the dole will have bought the c**t a car, and he has not bothered insuring it.
  3. Let me tell you pal, if your Harris is chasing like that, she IS a good one, some people never seem to be able to tune into that special Harris mentality (as Martin Hollinshead puts it) and their birds never seem to really try, keep it up mate, as said they get better and better
  4. Tell me about it bud but we can but try eh?
  5. Until the technology gets better and they get smaller keep away from them, and get traditional telemetry.
  6. Ok mate, Im sure you will keep us posted on future events
  7. Just reread that, with a varmint barrel, a decent mod and a good scope i would imagine you would maintain the sight picture quite easily With a sporter barrel, a PES t12 and a decent Nikon scope, you can see most of them go down with the .243
  8. Bloody hell that is a stark difference, that is a manufacturing fault in my opinion, yep get a bag of brass and start from there.
  9. I noticed you were selling it, have you given up and sold the rifle too, as you have been rather quiet on the subject recently?
  10. You could try mate, but as frustrating as it is (and sadly costly) I would be tempted to bin them and start with some decent brass, Privi cases are decent quality, but quite thick, so if you use them start your loads at minimum and work up, as the case capacity will be reduced, Winchester brass is ok for hornet reloading, never used Remington as I have never liked Remington ammo, I would be tempted to buy a 100 cases from Kranks etc and start with a good sound base.
  11. It should go back in fine mate, I never had that problem with Hornady cases, but I would agree that is probably what caused the jam, I would be tempted to get some different brass, that sounds like a damn annoying fault.
  12. Learn to squeak by hand as well, and get another type of caller, I liken it to trout fishing, fish with a black fly on friday, and catch with it, use the same fly on saturday, and the fish wont look at it, well its the same with foxes, what works one day, will not work the next, are you using a white light? If so try a filter red or amber, dont be afraid to change call when he is coming, if you have an electric caller, (or get one) try calling by hand at the same time, sometimes it overloads their senses, and even shy foxes will come in, and full moon is pretty damn useless, keep at it, you w
  13. Il take it if its free, pick it up this evening cheers?
  14. You will certainly learn from a red, they take longer to get going than a Harris, but worth it when they do, oh yes
  15. Cheers, I agree there is something very primeval about the reds, on a kill they look awesome, he is a big male with huge feet, I would imagine he will kill at around 2lb7 or there abouts, but as you know with reds its not all about the weight, find a weight they will respond at and work them at that before trying to tweak things, the mistake people make is to keep dropping the weight to get a good response, then they go into fasting mode, then drop them any more and you can get ready for some stitches they have got to be the most dangerous hawk, pound for pound when taken too low, I am kind o
  16. Bloody hell, must have been shot out then, I have a t12 on my .243 and it is just about the best moderator I have encountered, I had the PES/MAE small cf 8" on my .22 hornet and that was brilliant too
  17. I have no idea, as I did not hunt him last year, I took him on as a sort of rescue, most of his primaries and deck feathers broken, his history is a bit of a mystery to be honest, I got him at almost the end of the season, so put him down to moult, and he is a stunner now, so I will see what I can make of him after I find his killing weight, I suspect he will make a good bird, but time will tell
  18. Got the redtail out on fri, weighed him 2lb91/4 he has been freelofted all the time during the moult, but I have taken him out and fed him on the glove and bowed him out all the way through, apart from being a little bit skittish, he is taking very little manning at all, anyway, I decided to put him on the creance and test his reaction, first flight, 10 yards, whistle, instant onto the glove for a whole chick, then 3 more full creance length again full chick each time, again instant as soon as I whistle and show him the food, I am well pleased to say the least, I am going to hold him around h
  19. Wont go far wrong with that mate, put a Nikon scope on it, job done.
  20. Indeed, nice to see people helping each other out, well done bud.
  21. Good for you mate, I think it is appalling stuff, if I was given some I would not use it, but if your happy with it thats all that matters, give me tungsten or heavy shot, any day if I want to give my wallet a workout.
  22. Brilliant, plenty more to go at for these two lads, well done.
  23. What an arse he is then, it really does piss me off when know it alls in gunshops give out poor advice, that could have lost you your sgc, only in Scotland is that advice applicable, in England and Wales, ALL wildfowl and waders must be shot with none toxic shot, whatever the location, tell him he needs to know what he is talking about before dishing out advice, seriously he could have lost you your ticket if you had followed his advice.
