I think that it would not take long for a call trap to draw in a two legged fox, as for trap placement being "POT LUCK " that might be true for you but its not for the men or women who have to catch foxs as part of their livelihood , the tools for the job are out there ,you just have to know how to use them.

  4. I had the same ferreting mate for over forty years ,he liked the hobs I allways favoured the does. I never saw much difference between them until after xmas then the hobs came to the front. I liked the bit of film showing the hob bolting the 50 rabbits in two hours, the hob done well but the rabbits were there to be had and I think two or three jills would have done the job in half the time and then carrying on for a few more , I have had some big bags in the past but this was because the rabbits were there , we had plenty of ferrets to shift them and we were never slow in getting the

  7. some years ago we rented a farm cottage whilst we built our own house , the cottage was one of four that were built to the rear of the hall and were originally for farm labourers, the biggest of the cottages was rented by two retired schoolmistresses ,at the side of the house was a large pond and at the rear was part of a moat then stables and pigstys ,this place was alive with rats so one of the ladies asked the gamekeeper what to do ,the keeper told her that he would lay some poison down , she told him that she would prefer them to be trapped like her father used to do , Roy the keeper gave

  9. I had a covey of young partridges in the beam one night and the dog with me was a very sharp bitch she kept lopping up to the birds which were milling round picked one up and brought it back to me with no fuss,she done this six times before the covey broke and flew.

  12. yes mate , I usually cover my traps with garden peat but the soil at this place is very fine so I put a sheet of kitchen paper on the plate followed by a hand full of soil.
  13. all the rabbits are well in kittle in these parts , these were about three weeks gone , its been a bad season around here so perhaps its a good thing that its a short one.

  15. santa brought me a WELL MAN heath check a few years back, among other things like blood pressure and various tests I had one of those things stuffed down my throat , if that wasn't enough fun for one day they then pushed another one up my tackhole.

I went on a organised feral cat shoot in the 60s , it was in north Lincs on a shoot run by a copper we had lots of beaters ,dogs and even two blokes on hosses , there was a little terrier there that kept catching cats and killing them ,the copper was a big brutal b*****d who made people behave themselves in the pubs in Scunthorpe wanted to shoot the dog as it was spoiling the morning.

  20. Rabbits sometimes bite through the ROPE but not that often and if the tether is doubled up like this one shown on one of Woogas snares the rabbit will still be held , unfortunately in this instance a fox nibbled through the rabbit for its New years Eve dinner.
  21. bolted a few cats over the years and never had a problem with any of them ,a few years ago we bolted a litter of kittens at Great Ponton near Grantham ,they were flying about everywhere .

Had an hour out yesterday and done a couple of small sets the first one produced three rabbits all bolted in a minute , the next set on the side of the M1 produced a catm the cat bolted through the net and straight over the motorway 6 lanes of traffic and not a scratch ....... good luck to it .
