Another question on Variations
mangy1983 replied to mangy1983's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Yum! I got re-visited for my variation but I was adding 3 rifles (1 of which was a .243) and conditions for Deer and Fox and the FEO had concerns about space in my cabinet (as I had a 4/5 gun cabinet and 3 guns in there already). Although he backed down and approved the variation, I did end up replacing the cabinet with an 8 gun. Just upgraded to a brattonsound 4/5 gun cabinet myself for this variation. When l inherited my rimfire the cabinet l was given with it was a flaming shotgun cabinet that could hardly fit 2 scoped rifles! I kept on scratching my scopes taking them out o -
Another question on Variations
mangy1983 replied to mangy1983's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Sorry John missed this post. I am applying for a .270 calibre in addition to already having .223 and .22 on my license for deer stalking which is already stated on my license. The woman l spoke to on the phone said that since it was such a substantial increase in calibre my feo would have to revisit. Truthfully l don't know if anybody noticed the customised Mauser k98 in .270 that was for sale on gun trader but l just bought that today so now l have to get my variation to actually own it sorted cheers Callum -

Another question on Variations
mangy1983 replied to mangy1983's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Thanks for that Matt that's exactly what l was thinking. I've ordered 1000 primers from my local rfd and am expecting my order to arrive at the end of the week and that should keep me going for a good few months as the last box has lasted me since August. I understand that when reloading primers are the only part of a cartridge you have to show your license for and l have only fired 20 shots out of my rimfire since December as well out of a total of 200 that l have so hopefully l should be ok. cheers Callum -
Go on your profile and i think you can set up an "ignore this member"......... Cheers mate that's it done. I'm just wondering if the boar topics poster is the same... Suppose time will tell after a few more posts. cheers Callum

mangy1983 replied to mangy1983's topic in Rimfire, Centrefire & Shotguns
Thanks mate I just wasn't sure as l did think it daft to send it until you knew they weren't going to refuse you... cheers Callum No probs Callum ,but send it recorded delivery .My missus forgot this point and posted mine normal. After 2 weeks I phoned to see how it was progressing only to get told it must be lost in the post (major panic) but 2 days later it magically appeared and I was granted my 243 after a 5 minute phone call(although they knocked me down with the amount of ammo I wanted) All the best with your variation mate thanks mate cheers Callum -
Probably reds as unfortunately for me their are the only species were l live and the calibre of the rifle l bought is .270 thanks for replying Callum

I'm just inquiring at what point do you have to hand in your license when going for a variation. Is it after talking with your feo once he revisits you or is it on handing in your variation application form? cheers Callum

I've never posted a topic in this forum before till now and the reason l am asking my question is that l have just bought my first deer calibre rifle on which l hope to do lots of paper punching with to get used to the rifle until l can get my dsc 1 done in the summer. I have done a search from the main forum menu covering all forums and only two topics came up. What l'm hoping to find through this topic would be hopefully to be able to have a good understanding of what each bullets type does in terms of damage etc. many thanks Callum
