Yeh it's a very complicated situation and not easy or even right for other people to comment on. Kids are very deeply affected by what goes on with their parents even when they are supposed to be grown up they can have a lot of emotional baggage. My missus's dad walked out on them when she was 3 years old and carried grudges until she was in her 30s. Finally they got back together and all is now well but it wasn't easy! All you can do is make sure you are there for him now especially after what he's been through poor lad ATB

Just get some wood under the cabinet if there is a gap below it, you can probably screw it to the floor boards from inside the safe. Now just make sure there isn't a massive gap where the edge of the safe meets the wall. After that don't worry about the rest, just get them to come and look at it. Most of the time they just hang off it to make sure it doesn't come away from the brick work. Sure you'll be fine mate.

You mean like this? Obviously there's going to be a gap where the door closes this isn't what they're bothered about as the door is secured by two bolts. You can see at the base of my safe there's wood. This wasn't for the skirting board I had to reposition mine so I was bolting in to brick not grout which was like cheese. I'd stay away from the electronic locks myself I don't trust electrical things...sods law it wont work the one day you get time off to go shooting

What do you mean a gap down one side? Ideally they like it to be flush against the wall which you can ensure by putting wood beneath it so you don't have to hack up your skirting board. The whole crowbar thing is a joke really, it wouldn't take much to smash up the plaster so you could get a crowbar in behind it.

Been the worse winter ever here, must have rained nearly every day for 2 months. It doesn't even feel like winter its not particularly cold and we've got trees in blossom out the back. I hope we do get a frost
