  1. wouldnt breed your ferrets if youve only worked them once and they didnt bolt. If you want more ferrets buy in some kits that have been bred from two good working ferrets. dont just breed for the sake of it bcos chances are youll end up with a load of non working ferrets you cant shift.

  5. my 8 month old lurcher was on a walk yesterday and done his back on some barbed wire, 3 inch gash, 6 stitches and 200 quid. they had put a fence up and left the old one to rot behind it so there was barbed wire all over the place mixed in with ivy and all sorts, the lazy b*****ds!
  6. dont cook any meat you give them, just gut the rabbits as has been said but leave fur on, if its a complete raw diet i think they need the fur as a source of fibre or something similar.
  7. I've got a 9 month old saluki/greyhound and we've been taking him out with the ferrets and bolting some rabbits for him just to get him started. He chases them no problem and will stick to them all the way round the fields but he just wont grab them up, he just keeps his mouth round them but doesnt close it to pick them up. He will pick up dead rabbits and his rabbit dummy without batting an eyelid but as soon as its a live rabbit running round a field he just wants to mouth it. Any ideas or is it a practise makes perfect thing? Ta, Aaron.

  12. I think everyone prefers bolters but if my ferret gets a bunny in a stop end i expect my ferret to kill that rabbit and not leave until everything is eaither bolted or dead.
  13. so just a pure meat diet? how often are you feeding them this? The best diet is a variety of raw meat, anything you shoot or ferret and if you cant get out just buy some cheap chicken or mince from tesco. The most convienient diet is dried food, but they dont like it as much, its not as good for them, makes them shit all day long and is to expensive. The ONLY time i will feed dry is if i get a problem with flies in the summer but i have fly traps and during the summer i only feed at night and remove left overs in the morning. They get as much meat as they will eat. Long story sh
