thanks everyone for advice. I found 3 dead ones when i got in today, the rest are very skinny and one has an eye infection. i've seperated them from mum and given them a minced up chicken wing mixed with water so its a bit like a yogurt. They look like they are starving but they had constant access to food, there was even food in there when i took the dead ones out. also, they haven't been fed mince for long, only a few days (before that it was chicken wings), thanks again.

Thanks for the advice mate but I'm pretty sure they would have been born with deformaties and feeding mince for a weed wouldn't cause their legs to kink in the wrong places, silvers have problems anyway. Its just the under weight ones I'm concerned about, I don't want to cull anymore than nessasery but they aren't looking good.
-
Would that account for the ones that aren't silver though? and I thought that it was only silver to silver that caused problems.
-
its only the last week or so they've had mince, before that it was chicken wings but I thought I should give them some diversity in their diets. I just thought it odd that there are so many that aren't right but a handful that seem to be fit and healthy.
-
It wasn't silver to silver if thats what your thinking, it was polecat hob to albino jill, the deformed kits are both silvers but the under weight ones are white and brown.
-
I've recenty bred one of my jills and she has had a litter of 8 kits. They are now about 6 weeks and I've noticed a few kits are deformed and a few others just don't look healthy. Out of the 8 there are I think 3 kits that have thier eyes open and look like they are doing well but 2 have deformed back legs and 3 just look very very skinny and still don't have opened eyes. I'm going to cull the deformed ones which I think is the best thing for them ( they are just dragging themselves around and one has one too many bends in his leg ). But should I should wait and see how the skinnier ones come

The last thing i'd do would be tell the owner, they could be right vindictive c**ts and you could come home to a dead dog in your yard, throw the manky f****r in the river.

leave feathers on and guts in. my lot just demolish the whole thing as it is, feet and all. only gut the rabbits.

that makes life alot easier, i was worried id have to shell out on some expensive blender! and i read on the net that i shouldnt mix it in with the dry food for the 'switch over' i should just starve the dog for a day and put him straight on the raw because of something to do with digestion rates, is that about right? thanks again.

thanks alot. so even with thing like chicken just put it in the bowl, do the bones not splinter and cause problems?

I know this topic has probably been done to death but after trawling through pages and pages of topics I've still not found the answers I'm looking for. I'm looking to swap my dog from his dry greyhound beta diet to a complete raw diet. But would anyone mind giving me a complete breakdown of what they give thier dogs throughout the week with amounts as a template for me to start from. Ie: monday morning - mince beef.........monday evening - chicken etc etc. Also, at my local pet shop they have frozen chicken wings and other frozen raw meats for dogs, would these have to be minced up into a f

i wouldnt take it to work and leave it in the van all day, thats just the same as being at home. thanks for all the help, some good ideas

The way im looking at it is - if i already lived on my own and was out the house 11 hours each day I wouldnt even consider getting a dog. but i already have the dog and it'd be going from being on its own for maybe 5 hours a day with the company of 2 other dogs to being totally alone for an extra 6 hours. im not trying to baby it im just trying to work out something sensible. Id quite happily build a nice big kennel and run but i dont think my budget will stretch to a garden big enough. when i got this dog i made a commitment to look after its best interests until it dies so im not going to g

I only do 9 hour shifts but more often than not the work isnt on my doorstep (bricklayer) so thats the average amount of time id be away i think. im not saying that i HAVE to move out right away and i HAVE to leave the dog on its own all day. im just looking into my options as i would like to move out in the near future. if circumstances dont allow me to move out and keep the dog then ill be staying at home for now so my mum is about for most of the afternoon until something that is better suited pops up. Also, in reply to some of the earlier posts my dog does things when i want, he has no se

i was thinking more along the lines of him throwing himself up the walls with boredom and needing the toilet rather than lack of exercise. as you said he'd still be getting the same amount of exercise as he does now.
-
he will definately get plenty of exercise but i think ill probably save up and try to get a place with a garden.or maybe see about a house share with someone that works sensible hours. cheers for advise.
-
cheers mate, im going to have to do some rethinking, ideally id like hime outside but my price range doesnt allow for any sort of garden to accomodate a kennel and run. im deffinately not going to get rid of him so maybe a few more years at home unfortunately.

I live at home with my parents at the moment but am looking to move out but im worried about how long my dog will be on his own. im usually gone from about 6.30am until 5.30pm. would getting another dog for company do any good or is that just asking for a tear up when nobodys around? thanks alot, Aaron.
