  2. jane ive caught and fished for lobbys for years simliar to a crayfish you could make traps out of rabbit mesh the bigger the trap the more crayfish .have two eyes in them and a parlour thats another trap inside the trap easy to make .take alook at any harbour and design your traps on them, but smaller mesh etc or buy some , use bait bags so they cant strip the flesh of put a few bits of bait loose and fil a piece of netting up tie it like a sock, had several lobbys in traps like what i am trying to explain , i would like to trap crayfish sounds fun plus i know how to make good traps ,one more
  3. got a good freind who stayed in minnesota for years he caught plenty coyotes useing staghounds and scent hounds he called them, big wooodland coyotes, brush wolves up to 50 pounds in weight ,he hunted all over the states he says nebraska has some good coyote dogs and hunters along the sandills,texas is some place for coyotes some of the ranchers will kill an old steer or if there any fallen stalk put him in a ditch for a week then hunt the coyotes that are drawn in ,theyve had 14 over a weekend etc good hunting someof the kennels ive saw they had ten dogs or more as they get busted cut etc gr
  4. ive had a few nurses but not any vets jane ,youll need to jion the young farmers plenty up and comeing vets , get all your dog problems sorted to, out in new mexico ive met a few vets who hunt with there saluks and greyhounds just for fun no seruios hunting ,

  6. saw some nice coyote hounds or stags along the texas panhandle and near roswell ive got a few freinds out there they breed them for coyotes and selll some trained dogs ,some catch hares or jacks but most are are big boned and just for coyotes and the odd feral pig

  8. lampings only wastefull if you dont eat the meat you catch , i love being out at night not knowing whats going to get upin afeild and i like my game casseroles lampings not waste full
  9. very simliar to the bitch i bred out of k simpsons choco and my lana , was out to night to much a moon got a few chases at some larger qaurry but long slips and not far from the woods , grounds getting soft up here suiting the game so is the moon all the best time to give the lamping a rest for a while ill get out early morning etc

  13. when you train a pup it should be done long before 11 moons old maybe the guys feched the retreiving thing up , any way itll not be solved here youll maybe have to go to someone localy who can train dogs im away up in scotland but if i was local to you i would have alook at the dog and asses ,him or the dog training wise ,some people were never ment to train a dog when i use to train spaneils with my mate as he was into trails he would train adog for a customer then give him the dog back with in a month the dog would not be as bad , but was going down hill some times its the trainer not the d
  14. youll have to find the new land owner and ask him if you can still huntetc for rabbits tell him who you are and how long youve been going and you willing to pay alittle or bribe him some way , but yes you could get in alittle trouble but not much all the best forge a note telling him you had permiss only jokeing , tread carefully and find out who the real owner is and go on with your best kit and charm him if thats possible

    never read his books but sounds like another theatrical dreamer for the show goers, met d harcombe and many other good welsh ladsand dug with a few ,gave a pup to me a few years back a nice black bitch a good ole guy , new him for a while a genuine guy
  16. feeding them rabbs doesnt mean there going to be harder i fed lana luke etc rabbs never wanted to crunch them to hell etc same with some of the saluks ive kept, feeding a dog afox does it make it a fox killer , no disrespect but never heard rubbish like that before
  17. when we used to sleep on the nets, so as not to get riaded by other fisherman poachrs etcyou would here them ,plopping in the river plus if you had a torch you would see them ,lamped several over the last ten yrs some people still treat them as vermin ,was lamping round biggar one night saw a big dog otter nice beastie ,plenty seals localy thats another story there was a few families of them up near gifford and surrounding fisheries but they seemed to have moved on or shot ,
  18. could be handy haveing helpers biggest problem localy 90 per cent are shooters and are scared of shovels etc , but like to stand and watch me digging like fech while the qaurry is trying to dig on sometimes ,one time i was digging four feet easy digging , but there wasa few holed up i dug three four foot holes i was mighty pissd when my shooting buddy complained he had sore legs , more like suffering from drink any way i dont take many now to many let me down etc once i get settled ill find the lie of the land ,in my new house etc all the best

    ive never had one for looks ,work horses full stop , building work, towing , dogs, fishing , good ole motors but gutsy if your clocking the miles

  21. some dog youve got there cathing hares for fun on the lamp , some places i go they are harder at night as they get out the beam and no were they are going ,lamp wise etc were day time the dog can see them and keep on top of them etc

    ive had 4x4 for 18 yrs the best for me was a nissan terrano diesel a subaru a fourtrack ,an old L200 PICK UP several more but not a sang yong mate had one rubbbish the best i saw off road was ashort wheel base ,lada thing it could go were others darent etc, i think a4x4 in general for me is a work horse ,ha dseveral new cars but 4x4s are for hashing and not giving a damn about them dog motors fishing motors all the best
