  1. That sounds like brilliant advice, but what on earth is cored braid a cored braid has a core a solid string etc on the inside of it covered by the braid so you cannot splice it unless you pull back the braid and cut a bit of the core out Thankyou Auld salmon!!

  5. A good friend of mine has taken a collie cross/ whippet from the dog trust, its been to five different homes and has gone back every time due to its aggression. She has taken it on and is determined to try her best to sort the problem out for the dog. She's contacted so many people asking for advice and no one seems able to help her. Im not sure of the exact details but if any dog trainers could PM me I will send her email address if you fancy giving her a bit of advice? Thanks in advance.
  6. STAGE 1 Imagine this is the bottom of your purse net and you have fed the running nylon through the meshes. At this point I used to tie a knot about 6 – 8 inches away from the ring then feed the two ends through the purse net hole and tie another knot, well, not any more; now I get to the point in the picture and do the following. STAGE 2 Put the bodkin needle through one of the lines. STAGE 3 Feed the other line end through the eye of the bodkin. STAGE 4 Now pull the line through like so. STAGE 5 Now feed the other line through the eye of the bodkin. STAGE

  10. He He, its cos I haven't been doing any hunting stuff for two weeks!!! If you could see them normally  Im not sure you would say that!!
  11. Ive just learned how to do this so I thought I'd share it. To join two nylon twines together without a knot you will need to splice them together for this you will need a ‘bodkin’ needle which is just a fairly big needle with a big eye. For the purposes of demonstration I have coloured one of the twines black so it’s easier to see. STAGE 1 Both ends will be cut and will be slightly frayed. STAGE 2 Put the yellow twine through the needle eye. STAGE 3 About 4 – 5 inches from the end of the black twine insert the bodkin in the middle of the twine making sure it glides

  15. I never read the tabloids, they are utter nonsense and make things up to ensure the papers get sold! It doesn't suprise me to read J Darcy's comments at the start of this thread!
  16. Wasps! I hate the damn things - No wonder I hate summer.
  17. Madness gone politically correct!!
  18. Firstly, I would never muzzle a ferret because it is cruel and unnecessary and secondly, if your ferret is staying down for that length of time then there is a very good chance that it has killed underground - I dont imagine that it would drag the rabbit out for you In my limited experience that has never happened while I've been ferreting. When your ferret has killed underground then you will have to dig to get it out and there are two methods for this; either a liner ferret which will entail digging lots of holes and isn't always reliable or safe; or you could save up and buy a locator and

  21. What a day! We set lots of long nets and purse nets; I got a lesson off Daz to set my new traditional net and later he fixed my quickset net which was in such a tangle! We put the ferrets in here and literally within 15 seconds we had a bolt! We worked all the way up on the part Daz and Ferretville had cleared earlier in the week then back down the hedge line. On two occasions Daz had to dig and got two rabbits out each time! Ferretville had his fair share of digging too but the ferret moved after he’d dug for ages, this was a lot deeper than it looks! I dug to my ferr
