  1. Last weekend I went out twice with my BSA XL, it was on those two days that I decided to get a different rifle, mostly because it was too loud for me. Hopefully, I'll get better bags when I start with my new rifle!
  2. I got a BSA XL Lightening a little while back and while its a very accurate rifle I just couldnt get away with using it, so I traded it in for an Air Arms S200 which I just LOVE!! And I cant wait to start using it on my permission!
  3. LDR, can you remember that woman who came down the field we were ferreting screaming at us??!! On that ocassion we didnt have permission to be there but it was a genuine mistake on my behalf - I had just crossed the border of my permission by about 1 metre!, a couple of phone calls later though and I had written permission to be there, the land owner was furious that we had been told to get off the land and told us to go there anytime we wanted to do rabbit control, he even asked for a description of the woman so he could go and give her a piece of his mind! Since that incident I have been ver
  4. Every day I pass a shell garage and just about every day the price goes up!! Its really quite scary to be honest!
  5. Almost forgot!! LDR and me were lucky enough to get an invite on to whin's land for a day/ nights sport which ended in us being pulled by the Police, they took our details etc and had a bit of a chat with us while one of the lurchers sat in their patrol car!! This was the lurcher 10 minutes or so before!

  7. No, mate. You get right on with doing what ye legally there for. As, when and where ye see fit. Some toss pots in bobble hats turn up? Keep right on doing what ye doing. They're bound to lose it. Then You phone in and report Them for verbal abuse. Police either come out and deal with it, for you, or they don't come out for any c***. Can't have two sets of rules, can they? And don't forget; One of those 'walking stick' things they gave these days could appear quite threatening to ye, being held by some idiot who's going red in the face as he screams that you're a " murder ". Be sure to mention
  8. Wow!! Hats off to you for getting those two through the worst. Everyone has to learn somewhere. Well done! Keep us informed how they get on. Are they hobs/ jills? Are you keeping them?
  9. Yes, they are very good. Ive had a few things from them.
  10. Thats just what I was thinking Kay!! They are beautiful!!
  11. Thanks mole catcher!! Ive just spat tea all over my screen!!
  12. How awful for you. At least the kits seem to be doing ok though.
  13. Im talking up to 20 yards, its very accurate at close range and seems to be powerful enough to dispatch rabbits. I dont know if they are making them less powerful now? It really depends on your permission I suppose? Ive got great permission where I can sit in the motor and wait til they are within shooting range. Ive also got a BSA XL Lightening which I use up to 35 yards and its brilliant! Thats my favorite if the truth be known This was on sunday morning. But my little ratcatcher has its uses as seen this morning!
  14. I spent the morning on my permission and got a few more for the ferrets. I used my ratcatcher at close range and it proved to be quite a good little rifle, I wouldnt like to try and shoot rabbits at 35 yards mind [smiley=hmm.gif]as Im not sure if it would be as powerful? Here is my pic when I got home.
  15. I got my copy yesterday and Im absolutely thrilled! Its so easy to understand!
  16. your welcome, the woods are beech, ebony, walnut and mahogany. the needle is mahogany, how have you got on with the different design needle? At first it was quite a lot different to what Im used to but now that Im used to it - its great and much easier to load etc!
  17. Its just the same as making a purse net - well, thats how I make mine, but you just keep going. When Ive done 18 meshes I put a ring on the 16th mesh and attatch that to the hook and knit from there (I learned that the hard way mind as I kept going until I was nearly out of the room and the tension was all wrong)As for getting the bagging right - if you are intending to make a 25 yard net then make it 50 yards long with 25 yards of top and bottom lines. Mind you Im quite new at making nets, Im sure Mole catcher or someone else of that calibre will advise you better Good luck.
  18. Im inclined to agree with that!! Mine do it all the time and it drives me mad

Millet how do you tell a 13 year old that you got to KILL some of his baby ferrets he looks after them very well I can see where Millet is coming from ; There are times when ferrets are badly treated and a lot of this is possibly due to people breeding fe

  21. cat biscuits and bread and milk Stop the bread and milk straight away, go and buy some purpose made ferret food from a good pet shop ie James Wellbeloved or Chudleys (Just a couple of names I can think of but there are more) theose ferret foods have all of the nutrients that are required for your jill. You should never give her bread and milk - it will just give her diarrhoea.
