  1. Scout out where the rats are and sit quietly in a corner and snipe away, i used to shoot loads like this on farms. Most people don't have the patience to sit and become part of the furniture of the yards. When stalking round yards think slow and then half the pace again.
  2. The secret is the right bait in the right place at the right time That and some nice sharp hooks!
  3. Caught in the days before the f****n trawlers from all over europe hoovered up the decent fish!!!
  4. looks like a coot was for dinner before you had it out. The big girls often hunt waterbirds Looks to be around 25lb to me Had a load of pike this year, 5 of us had 31 between us on a weeks trip to norfolk broads. 14 doubles with best being 19lb 7oz, 2 of us had 3 doubles in a day too!
  5. We were down berryhead, normally we get a few but there was nothing at all! The tide was pretty small which didn't help i reckon. Bass off the boat sounds ace, will have to give you a shout ta. seen a huge bass at berryhead a few years ago trying to grab the mackeral off the feathers fishing on the rocks.
  6. Theres plenty more than just that lot! The meeting they are having in the bells hotel in coleford on friday at 18.30 would be more interesting to visit.
  7. Went today and caught the sum total of f**k all mackeral!!!!!!!!!!!! My mates missus had 1 but that was all we caught bar tiny pollock. No-one had much at all only saw 4 macks caught all day. But hey ho thats fishing.
  8. Off down south at the weekend for a trip to get a few pike baits. Are there a few around there after the settled weather?
  9. And you are obviously aware of that for a fact are you?? There are numerous Munty's and Roe right up to the border yes, but I think you will find they are in areas where they struggle to pass i.e. extensive waterways and motorways. No doubt, "poaching" doesn't exist outside of Wales Not what was said at all, plenty poaching all over the country, the point is i know plenty welsh guys in the hunting community who are all of the same train of thought.....deer.....holy f**k quick shoot it or get the dog onto it! It's not just them who think like that either hence why theres no deer there
  10. Top looks like badger but they are normally in a small pit, 2nd looks like fox to me.

  12. very few deer in wales because every numpty with a rifle or running dog has them down and in the freezer before the back legs have even got over the border! If people wern't so f****n greedy and have it before their neighbour or someone else poaches it then the poor buggers may just get a chance to breed and spread becoming available to more people. Stupidity and greed seems to be why theres very few in wales.
  13. Pickled onions in the runs apparently work. may help move him on if he wont go in a trap, try the traplines.
  14. There was a film made like that, the murderers etc were dropped on an island. The island split naturally into a "good" camp and bad camp, they were given a food drop every so often and had to fight for it. Was a bloody good idea and i've often wondered why they just won't do it!! The other option should be a 6x6 cell solitary for life with v basic rations and made to do menial tasks like break rocks for the rest of their miserable lives. Shooting, the rope or lethal injection are way too quick! I've seen that too mate, very good film A vote winner i reckon!

  16. These are what he wants with peanut butter in the small cup. Never fails, have had 2 baby mice at once several times, smaller mice will struggle to spring them on their own. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOUSE-TRAPS-/200753566097?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Garden_Plants_Weed_Pest_Control_CV&hash=item2ebdd85191#ht_3453wt_952 Or these set nice and light with a small piece of toffee on the spike. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-X-GENUINE-LITTLE-NIPPER-WOODEN-MOUSE-TRAPS-PEST-STOP-/280886708926?pt=UK_Home_Garden_Garden_Plants_Weed_Pest_Control_CV&hash=item4166270abe#ht_658wt_952
  17. Not currently, the gravel pits i fish these days don't have any that i'm aware of. The rivers may do but havn't been on them since joining the club i'm in. Fished for them in Scotland a long time ago. A Fantastic fish to catch when a good few pounds in weight. Not so keen on the snotties tho!
  18. Sorts out the chancers/man with a can when the wasps go thin on the ground, no bad thing really!
  19. Until the gulfstream moves back from it's current position there will be low numbers for a long time to come. Elvers follow the gulfstream back from the sargasso sea, unfortunatley they are ending up in mainland europe instead of the UK. Restocking will simply provide more elvers for mainland europe.
  20. Needs to be no less than 90 days drying time, they will only premeasure it before that and you will potentially need to pay twice if it reaches a medal.

  22. The increase he "may" get by doing the course himself wouldn't be that much. Most big companies pay £14500-15500 with or without the qualifications which is feck all. I worked for a large national i started on £14500 and i had already done the RSPH course and after 5years and being qualified up to BPCA diplama part2 my basic was only £16500!!! I averaged 21K with overtime, commisions etc but that was selling anything and everything to anyone who would buy it!! So if he wants 25k i suggest he starts looking elsewhere for a job!
  23. The first big fight scene in Gangs of New York.
  24. They will employ him as he has no experience and can be moulded to their way of working, they will pay minimum wage and expect the earth of him for it. They are quite an aggressive company in the pest control field and expect techs to sell lots of add ons to their very cheap contract prices. They are losing work left right and centre i have heard. Seen some shocking work done by techs which i have had to sort out after we got their contracts, a lot of them are bait box checkers and not much more. I wouldn't work for them. May be a good start for him to milk training from them but only if
  25. Get someone experienced to show you how to deal with pike, if they swallow the bait deep then it can be tricky for a novice to do on their own. I use a large single hook which makes unhooking much easier on deeper hooked fish. I leave it no longer than 15-20 seconds before i strike, i use small smelt 5-6" tail hooked. Misses a few but reduces unhooking issues. side cutters are a must too.
