  1. It'll only make a difference if you've a dimmer switch fitted. You'll know if its the wrong way round cos it won't work!! Hope that helps ATB Phil
  2. Well done mate. The 17hmr is an excellent tool! I wouldn't be without mine now.
  3. You might just have the mod on your ticket when it comes, i forgot to put it down on mine but when my FAC turned up it had the mod on it!
  4. I know a mate of mine fishes at hawkstone park at night. I'm not an angler myself so can't be any more help!
  5. Thanks, i'll keep you informed! Have been looking at the ASE Utra Northstar as a mod for it, most reviews are good. It is smaller than the T8 but weighs similar, but it is strippable and as you say that is a bonus!
  6. Well I went for it, picked it up today and decided to splash out on a new Schmidt Bender 8x56 to go on top of it too!! Really pleased with it so far, although still need to get it set up properly. On nights this week so it'll be the weekend before I get it under the lamp. Just need to save some pennies for a mod. Any recommendations on which mod to go for?
  7. Thanks fellas, done some more research although can't find a great deal on the net, but think i'll go for it. :)
  8. Cheers Bob, that seems like quite a vote of confidence! Been offered the bare gun, in reasonable condition recently screwcut and proofed for £389. Its with a dealer and they have said they will hold it for me for a couple of days for me to make up my mind. Thanks for your advice, its make my mind up time now!! ATB Phil
  9. Hi all, Got a .223 slot on my FAC that needs filling and have seen a Tikka M590 for a reasonable price and just thought i'd ask for any reviews. Not had anything to do with the tikkas to be honest but have handled this gun and feels right for me. Is there anything I really should be looking out for with these rifles or do you think i'm better off with a newer T3? Anyway, thanks for your time, ATB Phil
  10. Hi mate, i had the same trouble but fitted the sunshade to my scope which gets rid of 95% of the glare. Also look at moving the lamp back along the scope. This worked well with my lightforce setup. ATB Phil
  11. Catfish keith, true chill out! This man has real talent with a guitar. :notworthy:
  12. TUNE!!!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sGmkuB5-mCc
  13. Hi mate, beautiful stock on this! All the best with the sale.
  14. You can't drive on the road until you get your license at 16, and then you can only pull non articulated trailers until your 17. Agricultural law is a bit vague and my tutors at agric college advised that you are still limited to less than 7.5t until your 21. I've tried getting clarification on this but no one could tell me if its true. The only time you can drive on the road without a license is with L plates and that is to drive to your test. You can't drive with 'L' plates any other time.
  15. White smoke usually indicates its the head gaskett.
  16. Hi SG, First cut silage should definately be cut by now, the farmers around here are on second cut at the moment. Don't take this as an insult, but are you sure its grass and not some other crop? If its definately grass its possible he's growing it for hay. In that case he'll be waiting for some good weather again to get it dropped and dried before getting it baled. Hope that helps a bit ATB Phil
  17. Tdesnos you have some good points there mate and i think your right. Would be nice to borrow one for a few days to have a play though! As for being a ball ache liftin the rifle to range things, i don't think it'll be that bad. If your ranging a target then you've already decided its a potential target so the rifle is shouldered ready to go if the range is acceptable. The trouble would be ranging 'non-targets' as you'd be pointing the rifle at something you don't wish to shoot, which as we all know is not good practice! Hope that makes sense. ATB Phil
  18. It appears that Burris do a scope called the Eliminator. It has built in laser range finding and also programmable for different ammunition, it calculates bullet drop and shows your aim point! Sounds like it could be worth a look for a centrefire rifle. Wouldn't mind having a go with one to see if its any good or just a gimmick.
  19. Nice choice of rifle mate! Welcome to the site.
  20. I've got sliding roof bars on my navara, so I fabricated a bracket that bolts onto the front roof bar and the lightforce handle drops down through the sunroof. Takes less than 30 seconds to have it up and running now! It works well as it doesn't restrict the window at all and the passenger can lamp for you too. The only negative is the sunroof has to be open a couple of inches.
  21. Hi Paulus, i've not tried the segmented rounds but have experienced very poor results with the CCI 40g subs. Lots of fliers and very inconsistent cases. The bolt would close on some but be extremely tight on others. Been out with your old 1517 hmr tonight for an hour or so, got half a dozen rabbits. Still need some range time with it though to get best results! Hope your well ATB Phil
  22. As said above I don't think you can get them. Also the spare mags are pretty expensive too. If you do happen to find one though let me know as i'd be in the market for a couple! ATB Phil
