The Boars usually stay in the sett and the Sows are quite happy with this. When the young Boars get older and reach sexual maturity that's when the trouble starts, with the older stronger Boars driving the younger males out. This is also another problem with Badgers becoming so common, in many areas there simply isn't anywhere for them to go that hasn't already got a dominant Boar and dead and injured ones can be found anywhere as they seek shelter. we have more than our fair share around here, as do i if they were put on lisence for pest controllers, id be a very wealthy busy ma
  2. And you were going to be my hero i tell everyone i got a 9 incher couldnt you just lie aswell?

  8. you obviously have internet access, use your brain... there is such thing as a telephone directory too, ring some colleges up also, go to the job centre for advise or the citizens advice bureau. it wont just land in your lap mate. as previously said, at 20, get a job as a club rep abroad, drink, dance, shag(LOTS) for a couple of years then get a good job as im sure i speak from a few of us that didnt and are now settled down
  9. No good thinking about it, your only 20 so get out there and do it or in years to come it will be "what ifs" on your mind.
  10. get some decoys up in the branches and wait.

  12. too true its dangerous, ive taken pellets in the mouth a few years ago bolting to the gun on a crispy winters morning is the sport of kings and a personal favourite. given the choice between a driven day at game birds or bolting rabbits, id take the lata and duck flighting a very close second.
  13. The masters at hiding eh? I used to sneak about the wood if i was in need of a couple for the ferrets, you could hear them but could never see them. Then you have a go with the shotty and about 20 of the b*****ds would get of around your head....... always amazes me how this dissapears in green leaves ...true. The amount of times ive followed a call, got to the tree and the calling stops, stand and stand waiting for the slightest movement but nothing. Then the minute you drop the gun and move the b*****d is off. Oh and they never fly over the nice gap you have they go straight away from
  14. they will reply if in woodland but then its the finding of them up in the branches. used to do it as a child then try find them with the airgun but they always see me first.
  15. trust you fannybaws ha Technically if your dogs are not catching then your not hunting mate so thats you out....... But to answer the question i cant really say i do 'hunt'...ever!! I shoot a few pigeons in the winter for the freezer and making soup, i shoot the odd deer when in season,i shoot any fox i see 365 days a year on the rearing field and i shoot maybe twice a year at pheasants. The only thing i do do is work my dogs picking up maybe 40 days in the season and i can hardly call that hunting. Am i banned now.... Ginger Labradors dont count as a dog Just shouted this up to
  16. some of the places i do(commercial shoots) i have to do it, IF i can i will ry and always let the vixen and ODD dog run any time of the year. Cubbing, i hate it, suppose you get softer as you get older butt a task that at time MUST be done. given the choice id never kill a fox, simply let the terrier work it and then let it run but this in reality is not always the case. Rabbits, i kill all year round, they are a pest and alot of the ground i cover is arable or has race horses so with that in mind it says it all.. working dogs in the hot weather, no fecker in their right mind enjoys it..

  21. Days are gone when we could do this. remember walking from home, through the housing estates, past the school all in camo gear and my airgun over my shoulder most days and no-one would blink... Do it today and as said the sky would go bright blue with lights and sirens screaming!
  22. My advise is, when the alarm clock goes off, do look at the time before getting up rather than getting ready, having a cuppa/smoke and then seeing its 3:40am and not 5:30am.. im none to impressed!!!
