  1. The majority of people on here will tell you that the type of cross that they own is the best/fastest greatest bunnykilling all rounder. Try and go out with some people who have a variety of different dogs, watch them work and see which type catches your eye. Failing that go to a couple of shows and see what takes youre fancy. All dogs are different, each has its own traits and personality, its all about the time and patience you put into the dog once you've got one. Good luck mate.
  2. I am a user of the facebook too, very useful to keep in touch with friends of mine who live more than a walk or car journey away, cant be doing with all the applications crap on there though.Like I keep telling my mrs. if she really wants to spend so much time growing and tending to crops then digging our garden would be a damn good start!
  3. It would be even more of a worry if he needed the full set of caving gear...ropes, harness, waterproof suit and wellies!
  4. Nah, I just work in a manufacturing environment, but was just sick about everyone treading on eggshells around all the foreign folk that work here, anyway it all ended up ok for me, even ended up with a promotion soon after the incident. Well done. Sounds like you worked for the Government.....spineless baskets! All this bowing down to the blow-ins makes me bloody mad!!!
  5. Aye 'tis a very different country today compared to the one I grew up in...political correctness gone 'kin mad! A couple of years ago I got into a spot of trouble at work following a complaint from a fellow employee of a middle eastern persuasion, who apparently was offended by a piece of jewellery that I had worn for years. The item in question is a mjiollnir(or 'thors hammer') pendant, which as a pagan has significant meaning to me, its always been my good luck talisman... I was called into the senior managers office and told in no uncertain terms that if I did not immediately remove th
  6. Nice pics, there were some quality dogs on show there...even spotted a pic of the pup and myself on there , cheers.
  7. For what its worth, I added my vote a couple of days ago.
  8. The Petzl range of head torches work really well, especially the tikka or xp models, or for a good budget lamp theres an online company called ALPKIT who do a decent one quite cheaply.
  9. It might be worth taking a look at some of the Paramo or Buffalo jackets, good stuff. Alternatively Mountain equipment and Haglofs make some great lightweight waterproofs, just depends on what your budget is. Have used Mountain equipment jackets for years and have managed to stay dry on some pretty horrible days out in the beacons as well as being used for climbing, they're really well made and stand up to a lot of abuse....as long as you dont mind the bright colours!
  10. Cheers, very informative reply, much appreciated, will check out the 350d...any other decent cameras/lenses out there in this price range? What would you guys recommend?
  11. Thanks for the reply, Do I have to buy a seperate lens for it straight away, or is the one it comes with ok?
  12. Hello all, I am about to take the plunge and buy my first dslr camera, I have around £300-400 to play with and from what I can gather the 450d is the best available for that sort of cash. Now what I want to know is...how easy is the camera to use? bearing in mind that my camera up to now has been a kodak easyshare point n' shoot. I have very little knowledge of how everything works and dont really enjoy reading the manuals, I prefer to find things out by trial and error. How easy is it to upload photos from the camera to the pc and what is the software like? I will mainly be using it f

This one was great, could handle it without a glove, a real character too.
  15. Saw an adult mink and 2 young 'uns walk straight across the road in front of me a couple of weeks ago whilst walking the dogs, first ones I've ever seen around here. Love Aberaeron, nice chip shop and great honey ice cream!
  16. My bitsa Gwen, 10 years old now.

    Tawny owl pics

We took this owl on after it had been involved in an accident on the road, she didnt fly for around a year due to having some metalwork placed into her wings. We were told by 'experts' that it would never fly again. Within 18 months of care and attention, Blod went back into the wild fully fit. Occasionaly returns to our garden in winter, sitting in the Ash or holly tree.

  20. Noticed that the name at the top of the add in CW, 'Typp Ratcher' was also the name of the person who wrote the piece 'Rabbiting on the high fell' on page nine of this weeks issue...

  22. Definately worth carrying on with this show next year. I spoke to a few people who had travelled quite a distance to attend and they seemed happy, I prefer the smaller grass roots shows such as this to the larger ones to be honest.
