  3. Tried to pm you and can't for some reason. I will take this Pm me your preferred payment method
  4. It's not as easy as that or else I would have done it already, the sets are in a mass of overgrown brambles and thick bushes between the road and the cematery, the only way to thin them out realistically would be to burn them off, technically I shouldn't really be ferreting these sets anyway. There is some sets at the other side that can be cut back and we plan to do it when the frosts have kicked in and the falling leaves have gone. I have already thought of contacting the council and kicking up a fuss but if they won't even let the on site pest controller use ferrets then I think I woul
  5. Possibly, but it's knowing where to put it, its such a large area and it would have to go within the cemetery grounds and then where back to the chance of getting caught again. I suppose if I keep getting a few a week with the ferrets and rimmy then it should knock the numbers down over the winter. It's just such hard work with the ferrets, there is that much cover you can't net the holes and even bolting to the shotgun is hard because you are shooting blind into bushes and cover. It's frustrating when you spend all day doing really difficult sets and only end up with 4 in the bag.
  6. I was talking to the lad that does the mole trapping there and they won't let him do the rabbits either, it seems somebody in the office likes rabbits. He also has ferrets and would do the ferreting unpaid but they still won't go for it. There is no fencing allowed around the graves because they can't cut the grass. I have a vase that stands 2 and a half foot high and the rabbits still get the flowers. We had 4 with the ferrets last weekend, missed two I was gutted. I shot 3 on Thursday night and am going to have look up with the night vision again one night this this week so am doing ever
  7. We have some permission around a cematry but not in it. To cut a long story short the cematry has lots of rabbits in it and my gran burried there, the rabbits are eating the flowers on her grave within 12 hours of them being put there. We can ferret the sets on the boarder and shoot all around the edge but not in it. I have thought about snares but I can't get there daily to check them and haven't really had much experience setting them. My latest idea is a rabbit drop trap near my grans grave, this could be checked daily by family which are all big shooters. Does anyone have any plans to
  8. Nothing wrong with a mixi rabbit, our butcher takes them off us no problem. Sometimes though when they are really bad to the point they are skinny then obviously they are no good to eat.
  9. I tend to cover the hole with the net with as much bag in the net as possible, the rabbits head goes through the net and then is purses, my mate tends to lay the ring in the hole first so the rabbit is sort of stood on the net as its head hits it and then purses. As already said, every hole is different and sometimes you have to just make the best job of it you can. Most people have there own ways of doing it that works for them.
  10. A little bit about yourself might help mate, age, any experience, permission, do you do any other hunting or are you a complete beginner?
  11. I always have dried food available for my ferrets and feed raw meat some nights as well. My ferrets aren't overweight and are fit and healthy. The vet once told me they digest the food and water within half an hour, that's why there is no need to starve them when going in for an operation. There are lots of different opinions on dried food, but it works for me, everyone to there own I suppose.
  12. I had this discussion with basc regarding a .22 hornet and fox is covered under vermin. Certain police forces have made this condition on your ticket up and tell you that it has to say fox, if they decided to take you to court for shooting a fox because your ticket only says vermin the first thing they would have to do is define the meaning of the word vermin, a fox is vermin, it would be thrown straight out of court. I aren't saying a 22 rimmy is suitable for fox, but it could be capable with the correct person pulling the trigger within a suitable range.
  13. Where you from, I have a hob you can have, I am near Sheffield next week if that's any good, I could meet you somewhere near or on the way!!
  14. You need to find someone with a mk 3 collar and box to check yours. I think some of the early mk3 collars do take 393, mine take 394. I bought another 2 collars a few weeks ago and have found out today one of them is faulty, it is going back this week. Try sending it back to deben, at the end of the day if it's only 2 years old it's not fit got purpose.
  15. Me and paul went out for a few hours today around near the cematery. We went to do a burrow at the side of the road that I would of bet money on rabbits being home. Anyway, netted up about half a dozen holes, entered 2 ferrets and nothing home, we could really do with a dog for marking. I was gutted because my grans buried in this cemetery and a last Saturday I took £15 of flowers down to her grave and by the following morning there was just stalks left. I really thought we would have had half a dozen out of this set by the road but nothing. Paul found another 3 holer a few yards down the ba
  16. Sorry to hear that mate, hopefully she will be just bruised a bit around the neck and will be back to normal in a couple of days. Accidents do happen, I nearly chopped my hobs head off last week with a spade, we live and learn. Hope she is ok.
  17. I think it is illegal to Catch rabbits and release them elsewhere, be carefully what you openly discuss on a forum!
  18. Stick to known brands of battery Renata Sony Rayavac Maxell Energiser Sieko You won't go far wrong with these brands.
  19. I have my ferrets in a shed, they have 3 double hutches 4 foot long joined with tubes and access to a 7'x3' run outside also joined with a tube. I have a cat litter tray full of water in the run for them to cool off in in the summer, I leave it there during the winter for them to drink out of if they want to and I also have 6 water bottles on the hutches inside the shed. When the cold weather kicks in I have an old oil filled radiator I put on a very low heat just to keep the frost away from inside the shed, this seems to work although last year a couple of the bottles still froze where the
  20. I have a 5 month old polecat hob, doesn't bite and lives with other ferrets. I got him a couple of months back with the intent of getting him snipped for next year to service my jills. He is not massive but has grown bigger than what I wanted. He has not yet been worked but was from good working parents. If anyone wants to give him a good home you are more than welcome, but he won't be going to any numpty's, I would rather just keep him. Or if you have a small sized hob to swap for some new blood in your breeding next year that would be great. Numpty's need not apply, good home needed on
  21. It wasn't, 8 were taken back to the car when we stopped for a sandwich and the 10 on the way back at the end of the day were carried over my shoulder, I wanted to try out my new game carrier I got given last week, it worked a treat. Paul, you forgot to mention me nearly chopping 'Jims' head off with the spade on that last dig. The finder was showing a foot, it was only about 5 inches. Retrieved the rabbit ok though, jim was still locked onto it's head. Really enjoyed strolling down the river with the purse nets, makes a change from trekking up the hills on the top side of the farm with
  22. I bought some cheap puppy collars with the snap shut type fastener. Took the clips off them and put them on the deben collars using the same rivets deben use. I can adjust the length using the original buckles on the collars and just clip the collars on and off using the new clips.
  23. Just bought a lightforce lamp with mounting kit to go through the roof. I plan to put it through the sunroof of my fourtrak. I plan to put it in the centre of the sunroof as far forward as possible. As I have never had a roof mounted lamp before, i was wondering if this would be the best place put it, has anyone else fitted one of these to a fourtrak and found a better place to put it or has anyone fit one where I plan to put mine and for one reason or another found any problems with it being there?
  24. Mill dot and can be illuminated if you want it to be. It's not been used so google it for pics, I don't know how to put pics up. Thanks
