  1. I might be able to cross breed them with my angora, Californian, pink spotted snow rabbit.
  2. Is that for a breeding pair with a hutch?
  3. I have Nightmaster 800, very light and small compared to a traditional lamp and battery and will fit in your pocket, it will give a red beam out to about 400 yards and a white beam further. If you want to carry some spare batteries they are only the size of a AA pencil battery so can fit in your pocket, you don't have any trailing wires to get caught on fences, you can mount it on a gun with a pressure switch which means you can go lamping with a rifle by yourself. The beam can be opened up or narrowed down and you get NO overspill of light around the edge of the beam like you do with other l

  5. I was decoying pigeons over rape last Saturday and a single mallard drake came straight towards me from the other side of the field, I quickly put a steel cartridge in and dropped it from a good height, I was over the moon as it was the first duck I had shot this month.
  6. My 8 month lab has a infection on the side of her top lip, it looks like an abscess/lump about half the size of your thumb. I have had her to the vets and he has given her a two week course of antibiotics, one tablet twice a day. The problem I have got is because of where it is I can't hold her mouth open to put the tablet in the back of her mouth and rub her throat like you would normally do to get a dog to swallow a tablet, I can't really hold her top jaw at all because of the infected area and the pain she is in when I touch it. Has anyone any other tricks or tips to get the tablet in he
  7. Update Got the alternator repaired, the diodes were burnt out. It still wasn't charging properly, it turned out to be the voltage regulater as well and a couple of wires needed replacing. Cost me £150 in total for the garage to repair the alternator, replace the voltage regulater and a bit of wiring as well as fit it all with a 12 month guarantee. Tax and test due at the end of the month as well so no doubt more money will have to be spent to get it through its test.
  8. The battery is only reading about 12.2v with no revs, when I rev it to 3000 revs it slowly creeps up to 13v.
  9. I have a 'n' reg 2,8 diesel fourtrak. I had the battery replaced this year and over the last few weeks the battery has been going flat and it won't start. At 3000 revs it is pushing 13.2v. I presume it is the alternator that is knackered but after looking for one on the bay I noticed a new one for sale as the seller had bought it and not needed it due to it being the voltage regulator at fault and not the alternator, his was the petrol version so may be different but how do I know for definate it is the alternator that's knackered. Quick fit said it was the battery and then when I told the
  10. I have a mamba scope and have used other mtc scopes in the past, the only reason I have one is because its good with the night vision attatched to it, they are terrible for during the day, they white out on higher mag and are awfull in low light and when it is very sunny. The leapers/jsr scopes in my opinion are better. If its a cheaper variable mag scope your after also consider the scopes made by pao, a very simular breed of scope to the leapers and got very good reviews in the £100 ish bracket in the magazines when compared to the leapers, I have just got one for an air rifle and pleased
  11. Up at 3.15am yesterday morning myself and got a pair of mallard on a flightlline and up at 4.15 this morning for a mallard and a gadwall on the marsh, going back for an hour tonight, can't wait.
  12. After reading about snareing squirrels and seeing it on YouTube I have decided to give it a go on a rail going from one tree to another. Can anyone with any experience in snaring squirrels on a horizontal pole tell me roughly how big the loop should be and how high from the rail to the bottom of the loop I should be setting it. I am looking for answers from people that have used this method with success please, not armchair trappers that have read about it on the Internet. Thanks in advance for any advise.
  13. The rest of the car is sound that's why I have decided to keep it and do a bit work to it to get the car right. It 'past' a mot in January, with a 'few things needing doing' so to speak, getting it mot'd isn't a problem but like you say there is a differance between passing a mot and the car being right, that's why I want a bit of work doing to it. I really do like the car although it guzzles juice as do all 4x4's, and I can't really think of anything else to replace it with that would be as good for what I want and be any cheaper on fuel so I hope to keep it another couple of years. With th
  14. I have decided to keep my fourtrak instead of changing it for something else so am going to have to through a bit of money at it. First thing is the outer sill on the drivers side, the back quarter of the outer sill is rusting. Can this be cut out and a new piece of sill put in, is there a way of patching it up or will the full sill have to be replaced. What am I looking at paying for someone to sort it out? Would a rotten outer sill be a mot failure as I aren't sure if it is cosmetic or structural?
  15. Thanks again for the offer dave, but to be honest I don't want to rush into anything at the moment. As for the rest of the ferrets, I have had them all to the vets today for a checking over and had the other 3 Jill's jabbed. The vet said although not getting them jabbed can cause them to die it was more than likely something else that caused it, a Tumour or suchlike. The Jill that died had no more swelling than the others, she also said if I had gone all summer without the jabs and one died then the cause of death would have had more of a chance of being related to her not being jabbed. Alth
  16. Thanks for the replies and the offer of another ferret, I am going to wait a while before I get another one to make sure the others are ok first. I am going to get them to the vets this week to get them jabbed and take the hob as well just to get him checked over. Do you think it would be a good idea to sterilise the hutches or do you think it's probably just one of those things and there is no need?
  17. Where've you got this 'fact' from? Been feeding them on ferals shot from a farm I shoot at almost solely for the past couple of years. Last year I chucked a ferrel in for my ferrets, never again, my ferrets ended up with mites, I had mite bites all over me and it cost a fortune at the vets to get rid of them.
  18. Just been out to check on the ferrets, top up the food bowls and fill the water bottles. I keep them in a shed with a 8 foot outside run and 3 double decker hutches all linked with pipes. As I went in the shed I was only greated by 4 ferrets, I checked the outside run, then the nest boxes and finally found the missing one. She was lied down straight and not moving, she was dead. 3 of them have been in season a few weeks but I was waiting until all 4 Jill's came into season to get them jabbed so I can get them all done at the same time, this Jill had been in season a few weeks so now I feel
  19. I currently have a fourtrak and although I love the car, it does everything I need it to, the wife is moaning about the lack of comfort. I got rid of a 05 passat estate to get the fourtrak 18 months ago and after 18 months of in and out with mucky boots i can see where she is coming from in a way as far as it being a day to day family car as well. Ideally I would like to run 2 cars, the fourtrak and a economical run about as well as a family car, but with the price of 2 insurance's, mot's, ect it would work out too expensive as the wife doesn't drive. The only reason I need a 4x4 is to do a
  20. If it goes into fouwheel drive ok it may just be a dodgy wire on the light. Just make sure you reverse back far enough to disengauge it.
  21. They'll check the batch numbers mate theres no batch numbers on 22 rounds its on the box Then where does his son say he got bullets from, I would think it would be best to tell the truth with a plausable explanation, but I would definatly seek legal advice before I said anything to the police. After all it's a honest mistake that can be explained, if you start lying it could make things worse, your prints will be all over them anyway.
  22. He could of had a box of 50 in his trouser pocket and put half a dozen in his coat pocket to get easily. Just a suggestion, I was only trying to help, at the end of the day he is responsale for keeping the ammo safe in the eyes of the law and he didn't, I would think the least he should do is have an explanation of how the mistake happened. We have all probably left bullets in coats but unfortunately he has been found out.
  23. If you are a member of basc, get them phoned ASAP, if not get legal advice, the ammo should of been locked in safe. You could say you put the ammo in your coat to go out lamping yourself and as you were getting your rifle out he had come in and took your coat by mistake.
  24. fantastic idea, where do i get starving rats ? ................................... ffs Just put a live cage rat trap down baited with some peanut butter near one of the buildings around one of the farms you control the vermin on, I am sure there will rats around somewhere. Or maybe someone off here local to you already has some traps down and could sort you out with some. If you get some rats you will have to put a secret camera up to let us all watch them get bitten.
