  1. Which make the parent forums, and the main THL forum look quieter than it actually is. I'm bewildered by the amount of forums when I click on the main page, especially in Shooting where forums are practically hidden away.
  2. how the f**k can you see a rabbit at 600+yrds . what glass he got on the rifle? I was watching two hooded crows who, intelligently, wouldn't come any closer than 542 yards. Picture clear as a bell through the Nightforce. Now, if only I stood a remote chance of nailing them at that distance....
  3. Yeah, I was looking at the "typical fox" they pulled out of a three inch wide drain pipe to put along side of the monster
  4. I've read about a 36 pound fox. I can't remember whether that was in Robert Bucknells book, or if it was from a fox shooter in Wales or Cornwall, but I am not saying that's Gospel either, just what was written.
  5. You might find a few on YouTube? Always worth a look. There's a video section on THL as well, somewhere, though I don't know if there's any decoying on it or not.
  6. Cheers for the help Ian I dunno FD, same stock, lighter barrel, lighter scope, bedded in, screw cut, .243, I could be persuaded... Only if I could get it as a multiple purpose rifle mind, as I don't want to can't afford to increase the stable number at the moment. I've got Bambi on the brain lately, girlfriend even bought me a trail cam as a Christmas present .
  7. The truth is out there, .sshh
  8. I see you are back that little phone call must of helped, Bad news travels fast here
  9. You're looking for the wrong thing. Callmaster is what Decoying called it. Mini Colibri is it's proper name, also Tecnoest or technoest, think it's the first one of those. You can but it from an Italian or Irish company online. the good thing about Decoying was they had good calls for our part of the world. The Italian company will do you up a custom call card but they've pigeon English so may be best to phone them or find a(n Italian) friend
  10. I log out and trawl through the site sometimes just to freak you guys out
  11. Couple more from a few days ago, couldn't get onto the site to post until now I would have got more that day except fog and darkness stopped play!
  12. Set up in another ambush spot today, had no fox, couldn't be arsed pulling that dog fox out of the reeds. Instead I brought along a can of baked beans It didn't work as well as I'd expected, I was hoping to have a blood spatter effect on the snow but of course they just feckin sank into the powder. Never mind. Set up one decoy on the ground near it and another on the fence. Big hill backing onto these fields so all but the very perch would be 100% safe shot. First lad glided in right over the furze bush I was in, the wind being in my face. No messing around, no cawing he just landed and
  13. I have not! My mate shot some of them you know
  14. Out again earlier today, forgot the sunglasses and it was bloody bright with all the snow! Before I ever got to my spot I saw three hoodies wheeling around above where the cats get fed. The took off towards a tree when they saw me. Bit of a mistake on their part as it affords me a safe shot from the direction I was coming today Two of them took off by the time I got to a good position. The third just dropped off the tree and circled it as I had the crosshairs on him Then he perched on the very top of the tree with a nice safe backstop behind him Pssshht... SLAPPPPPPPPPPPPOP! Not
  15. Well done, getting it hard to find a fox here. Going to the edge of a big wood with a vixen call tonight though!
  16. Only 8 updated threads today, are ye all snowed in or what? Pull the fingers out ffs
  17. Yeah, I'm not bothering going out tonight. Last night done it for me, I was stood overlooking a local wood, sure there are foxes in there. None of them would show for a call, so sod that.
  18. Forgot to add, that when using bait, it's a good idea to let a few of them land first and get a taste for it. Then shoot the sentry bird, the others will be confused as they've been too busy stuffing their faces, you'll get 2,3 maybe 4 of them in a few minutes this way. They tend to fly off then for a fair while so consider switching locations or heading home.
  19. .223, I found that they get cute to what's going on fast enough and tend to move out to rocks, hillocks, or fences farther away. Bit of a pisser to be lying in snow and only be able to look at them Set up the same again today, it was snowing away and the wind was up. Still managed two, winged the second guy and he flapped about a little but didn't last long or go far. Another one got popped off a rock in the next field. A third got the hint that something was wrong and took off. Then two ravens arrived awking all over creation. That's usually when I pack up as they always scare off the c
  20. It works really well. A good trick is if the wind is blowing into your face when you're looking at the bait/decoys. When the hoodies land, they like to face into the wind so they're more or less looking away from you most of the time
  21. Well I've not laid eyes on a fox since we got snow Saturday, been out night & day and no joy. Off persecuting greycrows again tomorrow to stave off the shakes
  22. Because seeing 50 yards is different to seeing 250 yards.
  23. No, but if you've any you want rid of That would be a .223
  24. First scope I had on my .22lr was a Simmons Blaser 3-9x50. Bought it off Ebay, all in including delivery it cost me $50, but it done the job I needed it to.
  25. Yup, best advice. Never thought much of riggers.
